The breakfast on all three mornings was very good. The view from the breakfast room, through ornate windows towards peaceful rural pastures, was superb. Our hostess was friendly and welcoming. The antique furnishing were in great taste, and sitting for a quiet read in the huge drawing room was a wonderful experience.

The bed was super comfortable. So important. I loved the little touches like the small marble table next to the couch for drinks and food. The utensils and kitchen setup was excellent and the towels really soft.

Wagtail is definitely a must stay. It has a unique appeal with the cosy cottage vibe and a paddock straight out your door to admire the horses. The huge bath at the front is a very nice touch and having breakfast included is handy as well. You do feel you have your own privacy while knowing if you have any queries you will get the communication you need. All in all a great short stay.
Sale is a lovely Country Town, plenty to see and do.

We found the people of Sale a little strange? Not many say hello and im big on that. The Irish pub had good dinners but all male waiters which we found unusual. The sporting Legends was really good and is much more up market. The Rose fish n chip shop was excellent. Beer was good and cold everywhere.

We enjoyed our visit here- were lucky enough to see the swinging bridge in action, wandered around the Botanic gardens and the Port of Sale. The art gallery had some interesting displays and the information office was helpful. Enjoyed a nice meal at the historic Criterion Hotel. If we had longer we could have done a day trip to Yarram to see the murals.

Sale has a small river port at southern end of town centre where there is also, what appears to be, a new theatre. Plenty of varieties of eateries and some good pubs. A bustling country town which is alive. Has a botanical gardens and most things are within walking distance.

Love the city of Sale, not a lot to do but still a lovely place to visit and relax. Some cute bakeries and local cafes/businesses. Great for a weekend trip or a mid week trip, probably more so without kids.
We had dinner at Sporting Legends, surprisingly not super busy for a Saturday night. The the Central Bakery was absolutely delicious for our lunches on both Saturday and Sunday.
Most businesses are open both days of the weekend as well, so you have some variety on food and shopping, plus there is also Aldi, Woolworths and Coles for shopping as well.
Really such a relaxing and inviting place.
The setting was just beautiful, lovely to sit on the outdoor stools and enjoy the peace and quiet. Loved watching the birds and the spring blossoms. Breakfast was great, loved the coffee pods. As a solo traveller was a great way to have a country retreat, and yet have the back up of a lovely host who totally respected my privacy. Location is great, only 10 minutes into Sale for a yummy takeaway dinner and then a lovely morning at Port of Sale art centre, cafe and visitor centre. So glad I stayed at Wagtail Retreat!
Breakfast was not an option at the hotel but we found a lovely coffee shop in Sale. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and very efficient. The woman (owner) we spoke to when we checked in at reception was very friendly and helpful and told us about restaurants that were open for dinner in Sale. She also contacted us after we left about a couple of items that our friend had forgotten in her room...very nice to have that kind of attentive follow up and service.
Immaculately clean inside and out. The gardens were superbly tidy and inside the property was equally as clean, even the remotes had been sanitised and were in a bag. It is not an ultra modern motel by any means but the staff were lovely and friendly and welcoming and the amenities were clean and comfortable. It was out of town a little but only a 5 minute drive to the shops. Would definitely stay there again.
Very comfortable room, laid out well. Breakfast was excellent; very much undersold -- other motels use the same wording to describe a box of cereal and bread and jam in the room. You need to make it clear that you are providing a genuine "continental breakfast" in a comfortable dining room. It was a pleasant surprise to us that should be made more of!
Spacious bathroom with double sink and a bath, great firmness of the bed, and Netflix on TV are just the right combination to stay and chill inside the hotel. If it were not for the beautiful location near Lake Guthridge and at the centre of the city where restaurants are within reach, I'd be happy just to stay in the room with take-aways :)
The accommodation in 'The Stables' was located on a 2 acre historic property where you could wander and enjoy the heritage gardens and ambiance of the 1860's. Our accommodation was very comfortable, the furnishings a mixture of modern comforts and quality antique furniture. A delightful place to visit.
Basic motel design but recently renovated, clean friendly and fresh. Most units face on to a large central lawn with pool. Very convenient to Sale and just off the Highway. Excellent value -esp compared with inside Sale.

Room was clean and very well presented. Service was good (as always). Location is excellent and the meals down stairs (in the pub) are great. I've stayed here numerous times and there is a reason I always return.
Mansi is highly reliable. I have stayed often. Always clean and welcoming. The design is better than most short stay motels and aesthetically pleasing. the romm is comfortable and bathroom highly functional.
Excellent quiet location; easy to check in with details provided via SMS prior to our arrival; really nicely apointed and decorated unit - comfortable, and with all the extras we could want. Well done!
Lovely clean rooms with plenty of space, large choice in included breakfast. Right beside Port of Sale, The Wedge theater, Gippsland arts centre and easy walk to restaurants and pubs
Good location. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Like the old fashioned breakfast door should be on all motels. Good for Covid situation. Breakfast was good hot food was hot.
Very comfortable stay at a hotel that does not have all the bells and whistles, great value for money in a good location near everything.
Very clean and met all expectations.
The location was excellent and service was superb. The upgrade to the Coachhouse was unexpected and appreciated. The property was full of character and furnished beautifully
