Richmond is a beautiful little town with old world charm. Pity about Hatcher's Manor though, being run down and in need of a desperate spruce up

Richmond is a beautiful part of Tasmania.
Richmond is a beautiful part of Tasmania. A gorgeous sandstone convict built bridge, colonial buildings, the old Richmond Historic Gaol, the Rivers Arm Hotel. The walk along the river is lovely and lots of happy ducks. Crafty shops. Well worth a visit. Wish I had stayed longer.

The Richmond area had a lovely village atmosphere and worth staying a night or two. Australia's oldest bridge, quality cafes - Czegs, Richmond Arms for pub food and great little shops - a lovely town.

For those of us from the big mainland cities, like Sydney and Melbourne, all of Tasmania, is a breath of fresh air. We flew into Hobart early in the morning and went straight to Richmond. Automatic relaxation. All you need to do is walk up and down the main street. There are a coffee, shops, restaurants, bars, antique shops. The opening and closing hours are a little unpredictable and no matter what time of year you will need summer and winter clothes because once the wind comes, it’s cold.

So many beautiful historical buildings, picture perfect...
So many beautiful historical buildings, picture perfect postcards everywhere you look! Old Richmond Gaol was an interesting tour too. Easy to walk around town and we had a delicious meal at the Richmond Arms.
Working farm with sheep, horses, chicken and maltese dogs. The kids loved it, we had lots of space in our room which still had the 70s / 80s style decor. Worn, but clean. Old childrens books at dinner room. Food came quickly, and wine glasses were poured to the brim. Scrambled eggs, tea and toast for brekkie with OJ from Woolworths. Nothing fancy, very unpolished but with heaps of charm.
The place is beautifully furnished and well setup with everything and more. The spa is a great addition and a treat in the evening over a cider from the supplied selection in the fridge. The place is close to vineyards and cherry orchards while also walking distance to the Richmond bridge. This was a great place to stay for our last couple of nights in Tasmania.
The location was wonderful, just a short walk to the center of Richmond.
The accommodation was beautifully appointed with all your needs provided for. The gardens were lovely.
The breakfast was amazing with wonderful homemade pancakes, fresh berries and fruit, yoghurt, toast, butter and jam.
Cottage was excellent. Breakfast excellent with fresh eggs that had the yellowest yolks I’ve seen in a very long time! The animal feeding in the morning was extra but well worth it to see them close-up and to pat them - even the chickens!
Lovely night away
Met by the lovely hosts. The accommodation was neat and clean and welcoming. Loved the little court yard with the flowers. So close to everything in Richmond, the cafes and historic buildings. Great for early departure for airport too. Thank you.
Very comfortable and very spacious house near Richmond. The hosts were fabulous as well and welcomed us personally what we really appreciated. We highly recommend this place and will come back the next time we are in Tasmania.
A lovely cottage which has been beautifully maintained. Port and chocolates supplied were a lovely surprise. Perfectly situated to walk to restaurants and attractions. The cottage is very quiet and the bed comfy.
Perfect location in beautiful Richmond. Such a picturesque historic town with plenty of cafes and shops.
The property is beautifully decorated and furnished with every home comfort you could ever need.
This little cottage was full of charm, very clean and an awesome host who couldn’t do enough.I would definitely return, the location a stones throw from Richmond’s main attractions.
