Late check in at 11pm was convenient and communication was good at first. Parking was close & right in front of the room. Entered the room, smelled like an ashtray. All we wanted was a decent place to sleep & Immediately saw a cockroach on the wardrobe and on the wall. I was too grossed out & could not bring myself to sleep in the room, so i literally slept in my car. I was able to contact booking.com customer service since that's who i booked the room through, i was able to speak to someone promptly and they said they would contact the hotel themselves to request a refund of some sort. I also tried to contact management first thing in the morning but apparently reception does not open until 2pm, that's helpful! Weird hours for a front desk. Never got a refund or even a partial refund and never even received a response from management and booking.com never received a response from them either. Booking.com was good they did the right thing & sent me a partial refund on their own dime since the hotel did not take responsibility. The water pressure in the shower was actually really great, i figured i should try to at least get my money's worth if i couldn't even sleep in the room due to it being infested with cockroaches. but guess what? there were NO towels in the room, not one. I was glad i conveniently had towels in the vehicle i had because i was on a road trip! I recommend this hotel if you like paying money to sleep with cockroaches. Yuck.

Gladstone is a great commercial and industrial hub and there are plenty of attractions to visit. Doing your own exploring is the way to go here as if you have a rental car or motorhome there are short excursions you can make easily within 1 day. Nice eateries, clubs, pubs, or malls to shop for your own tastes. If you are looking for luxury prpbably wouldn't suit but for having a laid back no hassle holiday Gladstone is great.

Gladstone is an industrial town, but they have lots of facilities along East Shores particularly for families. There is a range of things to do with places like Tannum Sands a short drive. There are a range of food options to suit all tastes within the city centre.

On the first night we arrived after a 6.5hr drive and advised we could eat at the Oakes, so why not! The Oakes and Vine Restaurant dinner was 4.9/5 compliments to the chef and crew. Hadn't eaten all day but that Red emperor was cooked to perfection and my husbands T-bone was perfect med-rare and soft. It was great to see that Gladstone was really such a family friendly place, given the parks, marina area with bbq's and generally people just out and about. The cleanliness of the town itself was immaculate as were the parks so council are doing a great job. Went to get a gift as it was kind of last minute trip and found what I wanted as the shopping centre had everything we could have asked for. Thanks Happyrock for a great weekend!

    Gladstone is an interesting town.

Gladstone is an interesting town. It is quite big and well laid out. We went to the lookout and found it very interesting. The foreshore around the marina and the park at the marina are beautiful.

There is basically nothing to do in Gladstone.

There is basically nothing to do in Gladstone. We stopped here overnight while coaching up the coast and wished we didn’t stop. Struggled to find activities to do while killing time. Also didn’t feel very safe as travellers here.

In short, I guess you get what you pay for. This place is really cheap - so we didn't have high expectations... But I think it could have been cleaner. The couches were ripped and smelly, the cat was eating from a bowl on the shelf of the eating area and we got bed bugs :( . The backpackers is on a residential street in a seemingly low socio- economic area. We listened to quite a bit of domestic shouting/swearing/screaming the one night we were there. We left feeling dirty.

very old hotel but has been done up nicely was in a great position for all amenities and the staff are very lovely the only thing is that the water pressure in the shower was weak at night but strong in the morning and the bed was a bit hard but liveable, would stay again if I came back to Gladstone. Everything else's great, was a great place to relax and had the best seafood on the wharf

I loved the Mantra so much I try to stay here as much as I can in Gladstone. It's definitely the most refined and most well managed of the local hotels. The beds are ultra comfy. I love the layout of the room and the restaurants are good. The staff is a mixed bag. Sometimes you can get an ultra nice person. Sometimes not. But all in all I wouldnt stay anywhere else in the area.

The photos on line were a lot nicer then the room I had. There was no microwave in the room and it was very noisy due to being close to the hotel. The room was very old with ripped curtains and the air conditioner had a bad smell. If you're looking for cheap accommodation, try elsewhere first. Pet friendly was the only benefit.🐕

On line does not tell you this is a mix apartment/ hotel. Nothing said that the staff leaves early Saturday and Sunday, arrived at 4:45 pm on Saturday. Never email me the box code. Kitchen was closed Saturday morning until they arrive. This should be mentioned on web site. poor representation. I could not recommend this place.

Clean, comfortable room with excellent amenities (including a washing machine and dryer). Great views from our 9th floor room. Pleasant, friendly staff. Excellent value.

The outside chairs and carpet look dated BUT the rooms are surpringly nice, well conceived, clean and comfortable with a large, modern, sparking bathroom. The manager is easy to contact and the location convenient and easy to find. One of the rare 'better' motels.

Clean and spacious and good location for our needs (close to harbour). The manager went out if his way to help us when we had a problem with non arrival of our baggage on our flight to Gladstone. The shuttle service to the Heron Island ferry was appreciated.

It’s a modern 4 bedded small home with one living space. We had 3 generations staying and had a room for everyone. There was a full size kitchen and a bath. It was central to Gladstone and the family celebrations we were attending at New Auckland.
