The lodge knew it was our 50th wedding anniversary and upgraded us to a cabin with fire and spa bath. Later they delivered a bottle of sparkling wine.
When we had dinner in the restaurant, which was exceptional, I was delivered a plate decorated with chocolate and maccarons, meringues, etc. We were made to feel really special.

Location, surrounded by bush and close to Cradle Mountain was excellent. The cabin was super clean, cosy and comfortable. The hosts provided a mass of food and we were amazed by their generosity. Very well equipped, including lots of heaters and a wood fire. We were invited to feed the pademelons every evening at 5.30 and this was a wonderful experience. The cabin is the perfect wind down after a day of walking in the national park.
We loved our visit to Cradle Mountain. Our first stop was the Devils @ Cradle sanctuary where we had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the Tasmanian Devil and the Quolls at the sanctuary. We were able to see 5 Devils being fed. Though they looked cute, they had very sharp teeth and managed to tear through the meat and bones quickly. We then went on a bus trip to Dove Lake and were able to take some great photos. Would love to visit here again.

Love the walks at Cradle Mountain.
Love the walks at Cradle Mountain. We went to devils@cradel which was so interesting. Really recommend it but keep your hands out of the devil enclosures! Bring warm clothes - lots of layers is best. We were there end of Feb and it was cold at night and early morning. We had a wild wombat just amble by, eating as it went.

Shuttle buses run frequently to the shores of Dove Lake, making it a must-see mountain resort in Tasmania for easy day-hiking. It's also great to be able to see wombats up close around Ronny Creek. If you have a national park pass, you can buy a shuttle bus ticket valid for 72 hours for $15, so we recommend staying near the visitors centre for 3 to 4 nights.

A lot of walks have well maintained paths so most people can use them.
The scenery is fantastic but beware, be prepared, the weather can be very good one minute and cold and wet the next.
Pay for the shuttle bus, it makes life easier.

Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart.
Cradle Mountain is a long way from Hobart. Don't go the Queenstown route - it takes forever. Go via Launceston. The National Park is gorgeous. Use the boardwalk to hike up to the Creek. It's quiet and right there in the middle of the bush. We saw wallabies, birds and snakes. We hiked up to the Boat House and then used the shuttle bus back to the bus stop by our hotel. The shuttles are every 5-10 minutes. The rangers are great.

Cradle Mountain Hotel was an exceptional hotel with amazing rooms, we were upgraded from a standard queen room to a king size room which was an amazing gesture. The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom was superb - highly recommend. Apparently, it is a 'sister' hotel to The Village in Strahan where we had stayed the previous couple of nights, so they must have rung through and advised we were coming and provided the upgrade.
Our family of three absolutely loved our stay at the Cradle Mountain Highlanders. It was our favourite accommodation whilst in Tassie. It was very clean and well appointed. Excellent cooking facilities. The beds were super comfortable. The cabins are spaced well appart with trees all around with wildlife literally at your doorstep. It was such a peaceful, private place to stay, so quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Cradle Mountain Highlanders is a exceptional property. If you are going to spend any time at Cradle Mountain stay here if you can get a room. The property is Clean and the Staff is great. I had to adjust my dates and the staff did it with out going trough booking. You can walk to the visitors center and catch the bus to all the stops on the mountain. Great Great Place!
The location is great directly across the visitor centre, the setting is beautiful and secluded in the bush with good distance between cabins, the staff was friendly, there was good communication and check in and check out were easy. The cabin has everything you need. The gas heater works great. You might also be lucky enough to see the resident wombat and her baby.
The bar area was stunning, loved the extra little lounge rooms with fires. Breakfast was good value. Charlie on reception is an absolute asset to the resort- so friendly and full of excellent tips for our stay in Cradle Mountain and beyond. Nice hot showers and free wifi. The little boardwalk at the back of the hotel was also lovely.
Perfect location for exploring Cradle Mountain. Abundant wildlife just outside the door and beautiful walking paths on the property. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Dining room had great food for dinner and an excellent buffet for breakfast. Saw Wallabys, Paddymelons, Wombats all over the grounds. Overall, an amazing stay.
The room was very well decorated and there was a great view of the forest looking out from the Jacuzzi. The cabins had lots of privacy and we were not disturbed by any of the neighboring cabins. Location was very near to the cradle mountain visitor center for shuttle access to the national park.
Full kitchen with gas oven and cook top. Wood burning fireplace and heater makes for a very warm cabin. Electric blankets. Extensive DVD collection for rainy days. Cabins are private and comfortable. Located straight across the road from the information centre/ shuttle bus for cradle mountain.
This place located within easy reach of Cradle Mountain. The room itself was sizable, with a gas 'log' fireplace within the room. The balcony looking out to the grass and pond was lovely. We caught sight of wallabies and possums from our balcony.
it was much fancier than I expected and extremely close to the entrance of cradle mountain national park.
I was so happy to have free self- serve laundry (they even had detergent) after a week of hiking! I also loved the fireplaces.
We were in one of the new cabins and it was great. Had everything we needed, bed was comfy and it even has a fireplace in the living room. Would definitely come back to stay here again if we ever head up to Cradle Mountain again.
Location of the Discovery Park, is its greatest advantage. Its quiet, peaceful and walking distance to cradle mountain visitor centre. Getting in and out of the lodge is vey easy. Cabins are big enough to host a family.
Really? It's Cradle Mountain. The most expensive stay of our trip but so worth it. We did a couple of amazing hikes. The cabin was great and it was only expensive because it was just the 2 of us for 2 bedrooms...
You can find different kinds of wild animals like wombat and wallabies around. There are walking trails of varying difficulty levels. Shuttle bus stop to cradle mountain is next to the hotel entrance.
Spa bath at the end of walking; peacefullness of the cabins; very close to Cradle Mountain and right on top of some of the shorter walks. The Highland Terrace restaurant is excellent.
Unbeatable location but pricey for the amenities provided, no means of heating food in the "Kitchenette". Staff are friendly but the cabins are spartan at best.
