It was clean well organised and the staff were lovely the tent was stunning so luxurious and comfortable
A pleasant country town with a lot of history. Nice tree lined streets and old historic buildings. The road traffic through the town centre is a bit chaotic and too fast making it a bit tricky to cross at times. Some Nice coffee shops in town and the visitor information centre is worth a visit.

Castlemaine is a picturesque town, some good attractions from what I saw in the almost two days I was there. Would go back to the Five Flags Hotel again where I had dinner. The old prison is amazing, never seen anything like it.

Castlemaine is an interesting city with lots of accommodation and dining options. It is designed around tourism and there are lots of interesting shops and attractions. The surrounding areas are interesting too. We could have spend more time there. The town centre is easily walked.

with our accommation at Goldenray, there was no sitting room, no lounges or padded chairs, no wardrobes that were open, there was no proper kitchen, we could only walk from bedroom to bedroom and up the hallway when inside, we were aware that the owner was sharing the other part of the house, not quite what we expected.

A guided tour is offered at the Information center.
A guided tour is offered at the Information center. I would recommend this tour because we received a lot of information that gave us some great insight to Castlemaine and its history. Our guide also had some amusing tales to tell. The bush walks are also a definite plus for people who enjoy walking, with old gold mining sights as well. Also a lot of local arts and crafts on show as well. And a not to miss a visit to the Kaffee Haus. Wonderful coffee, food and what I would call really good services when the restaurant was buzzing with locals and visitors.
The tent was spacious and well appointed; had pretty well everything you could ask for and expect from a luxury family-sized experience... better than most hotels that we've stayed at. The amazing thing was how clean the tent was - including all the cups/utensils and bedding. Just brilliant. The AC was quiet and worked well to warm the tent. The claw-foot bath on the decking was beautiful. The beds and bathroom was brilliant, and our 12/16yo actually had fun in the children's nook.
Our host was lovey and greeted us when we arrived. The accommodation was very nice and modern with lovely views from the verandah. Took advantage of the relaxing big bath. The bed was very comfortable. We had lovely pastries on arrival. And it was about a 10 min walk to town, if you didn't want to drive. Castlemaine was a really cute town with some lovely old buildings.
Tastefully renovated rooms at the back of an old soon-to-be-renovated pub at the front of the main road in to Castlemaine.
Compact (quite small!) queen room but adequate for a short stay. Lovely touch was the sourdough bread and condiments in the room for breakfast. Very helpful staff, not necessarily on site but easily contactable.
Attention to detail - everything included in the room to make your say more comfortable - walked in to find heater had been turned on in my room to avoid it being an icebox, and the electric blanket was on too - perfect for a cold Castlemaine night. Super easy with keycode check in makes it perfect if you are running late too!
This property was perfect for a couple. It was centrally located, easy walk to the main street of Castlemaine. The bedroom, bathroom and living area was spacious and clean. With the fireplace in the living area it was a perfect couples retreat for a few days.
rooms great showers, awesome location right next to a park and plenty of great places to walk to, near the bridge hotel pub with great food and a awesome country vibe, great for groups and family’s to stay at the big 4 castlemaine gardens
We had a wonderful stay at the hotel, thank you to the hotel staff who offered to pick us up from the train station, when our train got delayed.
We will definitely stay at the hotel again on our next visit to Castlemaine.
This is a lovely heritage conversion that is very well appointed and extremely comfortable in the Castlemaine winter. Warm and comfortable. The included breakfast was a lovely surprise and our host was lovely.
The Castle Motel was close to the centre of town, the room was very warm (we were here on a cold night in May), the bed was comfortable & the staff were friendly. Everything you could want for a short stay.
Walking distance to hotel with great food, easy to access. Very friendly staff. Very clean and tidy, Great facilities to prepare meals if needed. Loved the herb garden.
The owner was wonderful. We appreciate all the love and care. Our visit to Castlemaine was made better by your hospitality.
Thank you so much for a memorable visit.
Excellent place to stay when visiting Castlemaine. A quiet street, with a quaint garden outlook, 4 minutes by car away from town centre, fresh, clean an cosy.
It’s an historic hotel with great staff and an exceptional live music venue. And it’s walking distance to the Mill, the Botanic Gardens and the Bridge Hotel.
