The location, room, garden has awesome atmosphere- I loved the meditation session and the fire ritual! We stayed for two nights and took evening cemetery tour which was informative and mysterious at the same time! Dinners are superb! I booked family room for two of us and it was great and spacious. I would recommend this place for anyone interested in Buddhism or with appreciation of esoteric teachings. Staff is caring and attentive!

The whole experience was excellent (meditation, morning ceremony and homa ceremony). The monks were very helpful. Everything was very clean. My stay was during winter and my room was heated, which made it comfortable. The food (dinner and breakfast) was great.

I have stayed in quite a few places in Japan but this is my favorite for so many reasons: - You are staying in a temple monastery and you can see and feel that everywhere. You are staying in a piece of history. - the graveyard is one minute walking away (I went there three times in different times of the day) - you get a free tour of temple, can attend the morning prayer and a fire ceremony - the staff was super kind and some spoke very good English - I could check in early - the food is something very different than usual - there is an Onsen instead of a traditional shower room (bathing hours are limited see below) - the wifi is good

Set in Shirahama, within 200 metres of Shirahama Beach and 1.2 km of Ezura Beach, Shirahama no Yado Daigo offers free WiFi throughout the property. 10/10 perfect 2 days here in shirahama :) the staff is so friendly and will help you with everything! they cant speak english but will still try to do the best they can. Google Translater will help a lot :-)

Host is very frindly and nice place very clean place good taste dinner and braekfast. If you plan to travel around koyasan area this place is good for you because this location is perfect.

신성한 고야산(Koyasan) 지역에 위치한 Saizenin은 산과 각종 사원으로 둘러싸여 있으며, 소박한 객실을 보유하고 있습니다. 원래는 사원의 순례자들을 위한 롯지로 개발되었으며, 숙박 시설은 매일 아침 불자들을 위한 서비스를 제공해 드리고 있습니다. Koyasan is a beautiful area and well worth staying a night. Saizenin is stunningly appointed and the morning prayer was a very spiritual experience. It's right opposite an amazing temple complex which is so busy during the day but you have it to yourself in the evening when the day trippers have left. The monk cadet school is just up the road and being woken at five in the morning with their beautiful mass chanting was also a totally unique experience. The textures of the traditional vegan Shojin Ryori food are difficult for Western tastes, even for those accustomed to Japanese cuisine. But I admire that they have strictly upheld their traditions and have refused to adapt to the potential demands of their foreign visitors. It's an experience.
