We loved our stay at The Best Lodge. The views were incredible, our room was huge and very comfortable, and the family running it were incredibly welcoming. They really looked after us and even organised a surprise when they found out it was our honeymoon. The food was simple but delicious and well priced. A peaceful oasis. We both came away feeling incredibly relaxed.

I highly recommend this beautiful stay in such a special spot, it is not everyday that you wake up on a floating island surrounded by a beautiful lake. Joel & his wife Luz were extremely helpful & welcoming from day 1. I arrived on Sunday evening from Cuzco (Peru Rail) and Joel arranged a taxi to pick me up from the station to the small port (15soles) where he picked me up on his boat. The room is massive and beautifully decorated with glass windows. They prepared a nice dinner and gave me a hot water bottle as it’s very chilly at night although you have plenty of duvets and blankets and a heater to keep you warm. The next morning I woke up to a beautiful scenery and Joel and Luz lent me the traditional custom and took me around the totora boat to show me some of the other islands, the local school and they medical center (the doctors come only twice a week so for emergencies they have to head to Puno). We also stopped to collect some fish from his fishing net which was their lunch that day. I was initially planning on staying one night only however as Joel explained to me the story of the islanders, how they live and the very welcoming expedience I extended my trip by an extra night. If you want to experience the real Uros lifestyle, with a very welcoming family this is the one for you!

Only 50 metres from Puno’s Main Square, Tierra Viva Puno Plaza offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and plasma TVs. The Cathedral and Jiron Lima Main Street are 50 metres away. The location is amazing, just a few steps from the Plaza de Armas and Avenida Lima, where you can find good restaurants and anything you need. The staff was amazing, our bed was huge and comfortable and breakfast was good. We were able to leave our luggage in the reception while touring Uros. Overall very satisfied.

Our room was modest and although we only had one night here on our transit to Cusco, it’ll be high on my list when we go back. The staff is also very welcoming and pleasant.

The foremost thing we liked were the family (Juan, Elsa and their amazing children). They were super kind and what they have build on their island is amazing. The typical boat tour was super interesting and de textile workshop was interesting, but a little expensive for what it contains. The food Elsa cooked was amazing and delicious. The room was better than expected. The view is great and the beds are comfortable.

This was one of the best trips that we did while we were in Peru, the rooms are quite big, they're very nice and clean. When we were there, it wasn't extremely cold, so we were fine with all the blankets we had in the rooms. Eder is a very good host. He runs the hotel with his family. He took us to show how they lived and what they ate. He also took us to see the community of the Uros islands, told us about their history, what they have been through, and they're going through as Uros people. He was so nice and kind like the rest of his family. The food... we ate one of the best fish (trucha) that we have ever eaten in our lives. My sister doesn't like fish, and even she didn't even leave a single piece on her plate. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner and all of them were very, very good. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Enda anledningen till att åka till Puno är att ge sig ut på Titicacasjön. En 3-timmarstripp till Uros kan rekommenderas.

It was very touristic and kind of a boring place. However, the people were very nice and service minded which was great. The people was the best thing with Puno. I would go to the Bolivian side instead to visit Lake Titicaca - it was nicer and warmer.

Litet och hemtrevligt!
Litet och hemtrevligt! Skönt och lugnt tempo i staden som man lätt vande sig vid. Billigt med taxi men även små avstånd så det går bra att gå dit du ska. Mycket pizzerior. Det var häftigt att åka ut till de flyande öarna. Lätt att ta sig till och från Puno med buss.

Don´t miss the floating islands and Amantani island.
Don´t miss the floating islands and Amantani island. We stayed at a host family in a simple room with shared bathroom but it was very cosy and nice. The Amantani island is bout 2,5 hours from Puno and people in the island are very kind and welcomes you at their homes and at the evening they provide a 1-2h party for tourists where you get the chance to try the local clothing and listen to beautiful I've Peruvian songs and dance. At night it´s very cold but once you see the stars your body fills with a hot harmony and you can just stare at stars for hours cause it´s mind blowing. At the dock station in Puno you can also visit the markets for good shopping and restaurants.

Det finns egentligen inte något speciellt att se förutom Urosfolket på vassöarna. Bra läge när man ska ta sig vidare. Det var lätt att hitta i Puno. Svårt att hitta inhemska restauranger, men jag drack en jättegod pisko.

We mainly stayed in Puno for the sake of Lake Titicaca. Quiet and cozy little city, we felt safe walking the streets in the evening and there were some good restaurants in the city center.
