Location is right in the main square of Mengibar. Very close to the Jaen, Ubeda and Baeza. It’s literally a former palace. The food in the restaurant is also delicious. For its price, I dont think I have stayed in such a nice hotel.

The only negative is that we didn’t stay long enough! Everything about this place was perfection, from the hotel, views, room, staff, even the food we ate for dinner and breakfast was perfect. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect and relax, this is it. Note: you’ll need a car to travel anywhere from the hotel but the stay is worth it.

Nestled in Andalusia’s mountainous countryside and surrounded by forest and with a great outdoor pool and private lake, this rustic retreat is the perfect country getaway. If you want to get away close to nature then this is a good spot. It has a Hunting lodge style with a good restaurant and bar beside a large veranda where you can watch the scenery, have a glass of wine and listen to nature. Rooms are rustic and comfortable. We had a small balcony to let us sit and watch over the valley. Staff are all very nice and cheerful. We had a half board package at a very reasonable price. The menu selection was good as was the food. Portions were very generous. There's a pack of tame geese to provide some entertainment and amusement when they go on parade around the artificial lake. You can travel to local nature spots but we just went on the local walk along the bank of the Guadalquivir. We saw some deer, jays, nutthatch, crossbills and terrapins. We could hear green woodpeckers calling but didn't get a glimpse. We only stayed two nights but there seems to be plenty to see for a longer trip. The views on the drive from Cordoba were pretty spectacular. It's a typical mountain drive with a good surface but a winding road with a long climb. The parking there is fine. We didn't use the pool but it looked good. The drive North along the river towards Murcia is pleasant also. So a very enjoyable stopover.

On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén. Very friendly and polite staff and comfortable atmosphere, despite the luxury. The decor throughout is beautiful and very in line with theme. Room was absolutely spotless. Amazing views. Plenty of walks around the area. Food was amazing and reasonably priced.
