We have been at hotel many times over past 50 years. Renovations to dining area very good. Food was excellent. Choice and Quality were superb (biggest surprise) Staff very helpful and friendly. This family-run hotel close to Garmisch-Partenkirchen invites you to enjoy a hiking or skiing vacation in the alps. We stayed in the family run Hotel Garni Zugspitz for a week and I can sincerely say that is one of the few occasions where the hotel was better than expected (or advertised on booking.com). The hosts have great personalities, very warm and welcoming attitude towards their guests, the rooms are crystal clean (better even then some 5 star hotels I've stayed in before), and the location is great. We had to leave the hotel one night earlier than booked, and even though we knew the non-refund conditions of the booking, the hosts offered voluntarily not to charge for the other services we used during our stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for everyone looking to explore the Zugspitze and even Tirolean area. If you enjoy hiking or climbing make sure to ask the hosts for tips. They won't disappoint.

The host was very kind, helpful, and friendly. Big bedroom, it was nicely appointed, well lit, with a refrigerator and modern bathroom and TV. Nice breakfast. Good coffee is available from when they open the cafeteria until they close it, 7:30 am- 9:00 pm. It is a quiet neighborhood close to town restaurants and Seilbahn Zugspitze, the cable car station to the summit, which was good because the other cable car on the Austrian side was closed all days of our stay due to the strong winds.
