We didn't know what to expect and this was a real treat.

We didn't know what to expect and this was a real treat. If you are a John Denver fan you will really enjoy this site. They even have many of his songs carved into huge boulders. The setting is beautiful and really worth a visit.

It's located in downtown Aspen in a Park on Rio Grande Drive down Mill Street. No one seems to know it's there that lives there and it's not advertised. It's a beautiful get-a-way and perfect nature trail - short 20 min walk - JD Gravestone is mid-way next to the Fork River and across from RM High boulder. Many of the songs he wrote/sang have words engraved on these hugh bolders (some cut in half) and they are random thru the JD Song Garden. Peaceful, solitude and one can see where JD got his inspiration in theses Rocky Mts areas. Highly recommend. No charge and clean restrooms. easy trail to walk.

We were given a glass of wine upon check-in and sat in the beautiful gardens to unwind from a long day of travel. We parked our car and walked everywhere. We took the free city bus to the shuttle for a hike at the Maroon Bells, enjoyed the events for the John Denver tribute week, and hiked the Rio Grande Trail (catch it behind the Aspen Institute and hike to the John Denver Sanctuary...an easy and beautiful hike. Lots of great restaurants to choose from-all within blocks of the hotel.
