The location was perfect as you could see the animals right on your doorstep. The house was well equipped, and we even got a nice thank you gift from the host because she was not around to check us in personally because we came later than the check in time. We were also allowed to check out much later than our check out time.

Set on the banks of the Spekboom River, Rivendell Trout Estate offers accommodation 18 km from Lydenburg. Exceptional location. House in a canyon near a small river. We really had the feeling we were all alone in the middle of nowhere (which actually was the case). Accomodation is fully equiped with everything you need, including fire pit and barbecue. When staying for longer period, would recommend to do groceries for multiple days. The closest shop is more than half an hour away. The drive to the property is stunning though. Would recommend to book this place when driving a high wheeled vehicle sice the road has some steep bumps and deep potholes.

Our children loved the animals that visited the house in search for a hand of food. Tame Kudu, Zebra, wardhog, Wildebeest and Impala came for a visit while we were there for 2 days. Perfect place to make family memories! WILL RETURN Don't hesitate... Just book!

Boasting a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with an outdoor fireplace.... Everything was perfect. We had everyday our day visitors( Kudus,Bushbok) and at night bushbabys. A big " Thanks" to Paul you made our stay really easy and enjoyable. We are definitely coming back.
