We enjoyed our overnight stay at this funky boutique hotel as a stop on the Camino del Norte. The beds were comfortable. The room was quiet. WiFi was good. There is a bar downstairs. Sheila communicated with us early and often.

We were pleasantly surprised to discover that Santona is an anchovy capital of Spain and the town where the owner of Columbus' Santa Maria ship lived. We also went up the hill to check out fortresses and the statue of Virgen del Puerto. Our main goal was surfing so happy to say that Santona was well-located to the spots we wanted to surf. Even if you are not a surfer check out Trengandin beach on a low tide. It's very pretty.

Santona is a lovely fishing town with a busy port area that processes the anchovies & tuna which is caught locally. The main town square is delightful in the late afternoon into the evening with a lot of bars / restaurants. At least 3 banks with ATM's so very handy if you need to get cash.

Santoña has fantastic beaches (including dog friendly ones), and the harbour area and seafront promenade is wonderful.
The town itself is a bit of a mixture of lovely old buildings but some horrible new ones - strolling around there are hundreds of bars and tapas places. And it is small enough to just walk everywhere (finding a parking space is challenging around lunchtime or the evening but once you find a space leave your car there -no parking charges anywhere - and just walk.
Good dinning options were limited, but a fantastic fish restaurant called the Napoleon is a must! Don’t be put off by the basic, canteen style set up of the tables, the fish is the very best!!
The quayside bull ring is also worth a visit and you will be allowed to walk around and savour the atmosphere of the unique location.
A walk to one of the beaches passes through a unique marsh area with all sorts of birds diving for fish.
The locals are all super friendly and welcoming and it was lovely how helpful everyone was.
Really, really enjoyed our time in Santoña and wished it had been for more time.

Great beach with smooth white sand and good waves for surfing
The water is warm for such place.
You can try great seafood and fish - it will be fresh and tasty.
It is a great place for surfing and for learning to surf.
This hostel exceeded my expectations in many levels and certainly deserves a higher rating than it appears to have. If you go here expecting a hotel you'll be disappointed, but it's a hostel and rated as such it compares very well with others. Excellent location right on the main square. Good facilities including washing and drying machines. Clean showers and toilets and comfortable beds. Light and airy large common area. On site and available staff.
The people were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Very clean and comfortable.
We have stayed at a number of places, including hotels on our trip in Spain. This stay has been the best in my opinion. The best sleep and rest we have had on our trip.
I would recommend it highly.

The room was very clean and comfy in general and had everything we needed. The breakfast and drinking water was provided, which was nice. Also the small balcony was a cute place place to relax in. It is right in the middle of the Santoña so everything is super close.

The breakfast was wonderful and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We have stayed here many times and cannot over state what a delightful find this hotel is.
A beautiful appartment in a beautiful building right in the center of Santona. Alvaro was a great host and always available during our stay. We highly recommend
