I specifically asked for a quiet room as my hearing is extremely sensitive having CV F even with ear plugs. Our room was possibly in the noisiest position on the corner overlooking all the road junctions. I awoke at 3am with the traffic and wad awake all night. For a hotel of that size and standard the only lounge area was in the entrance opposite the reception, ie the lobby! Not comfortable. When Icould not get WiFi before 2.00 to cancel the second night they took pay for 2 nights and said only booking. Com could refund or give voucher ac I had booked it with them. Now booking com say they contacted the hotel and they said they would not refund anything. I am NOT happy with this as have alway used booking.com but maybe never sgsin. It was not mu fault I could not get WiFi and when I spoke to you the woman said they would check with hotel I had not stayed and refund the second night you now say you will not I will take this further.

I Liked the location of the hotel, set on an island in the river. The location was quiet, although there is a lot of building development close bye, but the double glazing in the hotel was excellent and you could not hear any outside noise when the windows were closed. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the shops, bars/cafes, metro, etc. There is an excellent bar/café right next door to the hotel providing hot and cold drinks, tapas and snacks. The hotel itself does not provide meals, but there is a free hot drinks machine for use in the mornings and late afternoon/evening. There is also a vending machine that takes cash for snacks, etc. The hotel has a large lift to all floors. The room was of a good size and I did have a chance to upgrade for a price, but I choose not to. The double bed was very comfy, there was a desk and chair, bedside tables, a comfortable arm chair, wall mounted TV and a phone for internal calls only. The bathroom and shower was of a good size and towels were provided. Everything was clean and modern despite the building being established. The hotel is family run with the owners living at the premises. On check-in you are given a does and don'ts sheet which was very useful and check-out was easy, just depositing the key in the box provided just outside the check-in desk. The hotel is fully secure with CCTV and a swipe card to gain access to the hotel and your room. I will return to Bilbao and will definitely use this hotel again.

A very interesting old town. Camino de Santiago markers can be spotted on some paving slabs between churches. River trip is worth while and the architecture of the Guggenheim is stunning. The park near the Fine Arts Museum is very relaxing.
Try Pintxos for lunch and try the salted cod if you dare!

Bilbao is a small city so 3/4 days is plenty to see all the main attractions. There is a great range of restaurants to choose from, many do not serve food until after 7.30pm and many close during the afternoon. The Guggenheim and Fine Art Gallery are worth a visit, also take the Funacular to get a great view of the city, this is just beside the Old Town. We took a trip by metro out to Getxo for a day by the sea and this was well worth the trip.

I liked everything.
I liked everything. The transport system was excellent, metro, busses and trams. The people were friendly and Bilbao is a laid back city, no one in a rush. The bars/cafes, restaurants, etc were great and very reasonably priced. There is plenty to see and do, Guggenheim museum and San Malmes stadium tour were two of the highlights. The parks are fab to just sit and relax and the coast is just a 20 minute metro ride. The funicular ride is worth it and the view of the city from the top is fantastic. The old town is a maze of narrow streets with shops, bars/cafes and restaurants. Again a short ride away on the metro. The Baskian restaurant/brewery in the main shopping centre serves authentic Basque food and is very reasonable. The Wicklow bar in the centre of the city is the place to go for a great draught pint of Guinness in a proper glass, small, but always popular and a friendly welcome by the owner, Mick. The only down side that I found was that there are not many public toilets, but you can always dip into a bar/café and maybe another tipple and some tapas! I will definately return.

Excellent place for a long weekend visit.
Excellent place for a long weekend visit. The city has been given a good upgrade on public areas and there are very nice walks and spaces to chill along the Nervion river, the old part of the town or the new city.
Good transport system and good connection to the airport and train station.
Great place for pintxos and chiquiteo (tapas and bar hoping) as well as modern art (guggenheim museum really stands out), or just simply chill in a nice urban setting. Plenty of shopping spots too.

The Guggenheim of course, but the city is elegant, bright and bustling. The bridges alone are worth going there for. We ate at small cafes and pincho bars of which there are countless numbers. There is an underground metro and tram routes, but we walked. There is a pleasant walk along the river.

Bilbao is a beautiful city set on the river , lots to see and do when there and you definately need 3 days to cover it all , we went out to the bay of biscay on one of the days and it was worth it ,we travelled on the orange line to Niguri got off there walked the coast line and got back on metro at Areeta back to abando where out hotel is. My main tip is try to get a main meal in the middle of the day as we found it hard to eat at night apart from Tapas bars which really didnt suit a gluten intolerant person in the party .
Perfect location across the street from Guggenheum museum, a short walk to the old town along the river. Compact but nice gym/wellness area. The rooms are nicely appointed but not the most inspiring view when looking into the courtyard at the shaft of the giant phallic sculpture. The lavender spray at turndown is a lovely touch. The staff are super and always willing to help. Good parking facilities and quite accessible, not as tight or difficult to navigate as many city centre hotels in Spain.
We were there for one day, it was great for the purpose, just a quick trip day + remote work.
I wanted to make this review specially for the unforgettable staff. The people who assist us were always 5 stars - with the garage car parking situation, with last minute help with specific concerns, suggestions ands tips for Bilbao, and even a late tea (which I was feeling super sick and there was nothing open). I have to say: TOP location and TOP staff, the hotel itself is ok.
It was only 2 minutes walk from the metro station, and in the middle of the lively neighbourhood of Old Town of Bilbao. Very convenient for our brief city holiday. The room was very clean and comfortable, and we slept very well as the window blocked the street noise & the curtain blocked the morning light. Staffs were very organised and helpful - they contacted me through WhatsApp, helped me locating where the hotel was. Very happy experience overall!
Hotel Tayko Bilbao is a beautiful hotel located in the Old City. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and filling. You can walk everywhere with restaurants and shopping nearby. The Guggenheim Museum is a short walk away. Be sure to visit the Cathedral near the hotel - it is beautiful with an audio guide. We highly recommend staying at Hotel Tayko.
Friendliness of your staff - size and design of the room - great location so close to everything that is important in Bilbao such as the Guggenheim Museum, the city, the river, the old town, etc.
There is a lot of open space around the hotel, nice to walk around, even at night. Never had any concerns about safety. Easy to reach by car. The perfect hotel for a few days to discover this great city.
The hotel is located in the old town of Bilbao, and you just walk out onto the street for wonderful places to eat and explore, with an easy walk to the Guggenheim along the river. The room itself was a good size, immaculately clean with a comfortable bed. Considering it was a third-floor room above a reasonably busy street the room was really quite soundproof and dark with the shutters closed.
Nice location, as only 20 minutes walk to a tapas and a lookout that has a view over the city, with a the funicular railway nearby that takes you straight down the hill to the edge of Bilbao, a brief walk from the Guggenheim Bilbao museum.
Room fittings were very modern and was clean. Lots of convenient parking space.
Affordable parking near Guggenheim museum was useful to know about.
What a perfect location!!! Close to a tram stop and one of the train stations, close to Plaza Nueva (great pintxos bars) and the San Nicolas church where many tours start. We loved Bilbao and thus hotel was clean, comfortable, safe, spacious, well-appointed, and perfectly located. I'd stay here again!
José's apartment was a wonderful place to stay. Right in the beautiful old town, but in a quiet location right near the market. The apartment was clean and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and furniture. Would recommend for anyone staying in Bilbao, especially if you want to explore the old town.
Great friendly staff, excellent location (walkable to Guggenheim, waterfront, and Old Town), spacious and clean room, comfy king-size bed, eco-friendly TP, daily in-room fresh water bottle (glass, not wasteful plastic) and tea. This cute, boutique hotel should be rated higher than 2 stars.
Great location in the center of Bilbao with easy access to the old town and the Guggenheim Museum. Also easy from the airport by car (or by taxi). Some great restaurants in the locality with traditional and modern cuisine s required. A public car park is in the basement of the hotel.
This hotel is in a great location for exploring the old town in Bilbao and all of the major tourist attractions including the Guggenheim. We have stayed there before and we're very happy to return. It's a good value tourist hotel with nice breakfast and very friendly staff.
Comfy hotel with friendly staff. Although it had been decorated well, some of the details were a little tired - scratched walls, etc - but generally it was nice. The area was ok and it was walkable to old town, but it wasn't my favourite area of Bilbao that I've stayed in.
The hotel is in a very good location close to Gugenheim museum and old town - everything in walking distance. The staff was very firendly, attentive and supportive. The room was very clean though pretty small. Nevertheless, it was okey to stay for few days.
Location excellent in the heart of Bilbao's old town. As this was a 'boutique' pension no breakfast was provided but there were excellent cafes nearby. Bedroom was very comfortable. Staff were polite and helpful.
The hotel is pretty well situated since you're in the city center and you're able to get to Bilbao Abando Station by walking in about 10-15 mins. The Hotel was always clean and the staff friendly.
It’s a very clean, modern and chic hotel in the center of Bilbao‘s old town. The staff is very friendly and we received some good tips. We would definitely recommend it and come back.
I like this hotel in the center of Bilbao very much. Is has great location on the top of Bilbao Intermodal. Rooms are very nice with beautiful view. Staff is very friendly.
