The accommodation itself was very good. The amenities at Dinner Plain were terrible as the vast majority of businesses were closed. The cost for what was on offer was way too high.

The apartment was very modern. The stairs were a bit trippy, however our group members were fit and able to manage them.

The photos don’t do the property justice! It is large, cozy, warm, clean and homely and presents so much better than the photos online. It had everything we needed.

I've already given my thoughts about the place.
Being off-season, no eateries were open, but fortunately, we were prepared and brought all our own food.
You should know that when I googled "Great Alpine Road accommodation", there was no mention of Dinner Plain, Mt Hotham or any of the resorts. Only Harrietville and Bright. Bit of a missed opportunity there.

Dinner plain looks like a set from a spaghetti western, tired run down with very poor environmental garbage collection. The management committee need to have a serious look at the future direction this village needs to take as it is very clear it is not going well.

We enjoyed the sled dog racing that was being held that weekend.Prefer to stay on mountain at Hotham but definitely better than staying completely off mountain and the commute to Hotham was fairly straightforward. We ate at the High Plains hotel - the food and service was good.

Dinner Plain is a small and quiet village in the mountains.
Dinner Plain is a small and quiet village in the mountains. The location offers great options for hiking and cycling (road and mountain). If you visit during Summer you will find many businesses are closed - so be prepared, bring sufficient food and supplies. Closest options for supplies are a limited supermarket at Hotham Heights (The General) or the Foodworks at Omeo. The pub (Hotel High Plains) and the Club Wyndham are open during Summer. The Dinner Plain Hotel is currently closed (Jan 2022).

Dinner Plain is a beautiful area.
Dinner Plain is a beautiful area. It was cold, refreshing, and sunny, everything one would expect in a highland country. The walks around the village are great and a short drive to Hotham finishes off magnificent walks up in the sky with the best views possible. The two pubs, resort-style places open in late November for food and drinks were good. The houses around Dinner Plain are unique and not seen anywhere else. It is indeed a different place.
The property had a lot of charming quirky features with every inch of the house being well thought of in design. It was very cozy and comfortable with everything provided including fire wood, board games, DVD's etc. The bedrooms were all large and the beds were very comfortable. The linen pack made it feel like we were in a luxurious hotel. I didn't miss my bed at all which is very unusual when staying away from home. We loved sitting around the fire place on the window seats enjoying the view.
Stayed three nights in school holidays for a snow stay. Plenty of space for family of four - had beds for 6 and could fit that many without it being too cramped. Kids loved the loft room. Great location right in the centre of Dinner Plain, close to shops, pub etc. Key code entry very easy. Appreciated the washing machine and dryer. Nice big open fireplace with firewood provided. Beds clean and comfortable.
Thanks Betty for looking after us from afar, answering questions and generally making us feel very welcome. It's a delightful setting at Dinner Plain, close to bus stop for easy access to mountain. It was so nice to come back to a warm house at the end of the day, cook some dinner and relax. I can understand why people like Hotham and Dinner Plain.
Everything was good except for no breakfast being available - not even a continental breakfast - which was very disappointing for an establishment such as this - although it did appear to be a problem in the whole of Dinner Plain we could of at least been advised of this prior to our stay.
Supplied our own food etc, everything else was above expectations with ideal location to central hub of hotels etc, would definitely stay again ( more in off season because quiet & relaxed atmosphere) happy with the value for money. Also was very cosie & firewood supplied a bonus!
I loved being at Dinner Plain. The whole weekend was great. Peaceful, friendly and energising.. Beautiful location. We went in the offseason so very quiet, but still had the best duck confit i have had in ages (at Elements Restaurant). Everyone was friendly, from guests to staff.
The accommodation itself was very good. The amenities at Dinner Plain were terrible as the vast majority of businesses were closed. The cost for what was on offer was way too high.
This house has extraordinary architecture and provides a very noteworthy experience. It is well-located: an easy walk to the facilities at Dinner Plain (pub, shops etc)
Perfect size for us and in a great central location. Great spot to enjoy lots of walks around Dinner Plain, and Mt Hotham. Kids want to come back when there's snow.
