It's an ugly city.
It's an ugly city. So many buildings are old and dirty, reminding me of the old communist Yugoslavia. There are many tags everywhere. I saw some new constructions and visited houseboat restaurants on Sava, which were nice. Young people and night ambience are wonderful.

Not the prettiest or most exciting city I've ever been to. The locals are friendly and I really enjoyed the traditional food. You can pretty much walk everywhere which is very handy. Beware that nearly everyone smokes, including in cafes and restaurants. There are almost zero non-smoking locations. The inside part of the cafe at Moskva Hotel was the only place I found to sit smoke-free. Thankfully they also do great cakes there.

At a short distance you find supermarkets, nice restaurants, bars, the university, tourist attractions, the main shopping street and a stop for many bus lines. The apartment itself is very cozy and has everything you need for your stay. And Jovanna and her parents were very helpful and nice. I stay there for 2 weeks while visiting a Serbian course in Belgrade and visiting the city and was always nice to come to apartment which felt like home during my stay. :)RonaldAustria
