The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Kitchen was fantastic to cook in, lounge very warm and comfortable. Bedrooms spacious and the number of bathrooms a bonus! The additional touches of a drying rack for clothes was appreciated and information on the property upon our arrival was comprehensive. Would recommend this accommodation!

A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. Handy to the mountains and snow, consequently the temperature is colder than average.

Only stopped here as a base to start Highway 43 The Forgotton Highway the following morning. Good well stocked new supermarket New World, friendly helpful staff.
The Forgotton Highway over to Stratford is worth doing, not as fearsome a drive as some online accounts would have you believe. Choose a fine day though, it poured down at times on our trip, usually coinciding with where the best alround vistas were.

With limited Dining facilities in Taumaruni, the in-house restaurant provided good meals that were ample in size, with plenty vegetables accompanying a tasty smoked salmon meal. No other restaurants in the town to speak of.
Grounds of the Motel appeared to need some maintenance as looked unkempt

The very cheerful and helpful lasses in the Information Bureau. The delicious dinner at the Thai restaurant. Walking in the rain under the verandahs with an umbrella to fill the gaps and read the history about Taumaranui.

Taumaranui was a great place to stay for a night, we were surprised by the variety and availability of eating places for dinner, especially having access to the RSA when we are not members. Breakfast options were limited but this was not a major problem for us. The community was friendly and we felt safe and welcome
Attention to detail was exquisite in every way. Melana has created a fabulous space, indoors and out, and you feel like you’ve arrived in paradise. Very comfy and cozy, with delightful gardens lovingly created over 28 years, a joy to wander and explore. The breakfast was spectacular with choices of French toast, eggs, bacon, etc., and presented with flair. The spa, the pool, the views and a delightful host who has thought of everything - couldn’t have asked for more!
The Inn at The Convent literally exceeded our expectations on every level! The Convent, peaceful and beautiful, hospitality was warm and genuine. The art work - phenomenal! Rufus and the cats, absolutely gorgeous! Birdsong in the morning stloe our hearts! Breakfasts were a wonderful surprise - bacon and eggs cooked to perfection, but the real star for us was Jeff's INCREDIBLE homemade muesli! AMAZING!!
Would absolutely recommend.
Room was nice and clean and warmed up very quickly with the heat pump.
Kitchenette had everything we required in it (including a nice QUIET fridge)
Good views out of main window
Wide screen TV.
Excellent high pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower
Basic menu of food available in the evening if required - we chose to drive the 8km into Taumarunui for a pizza.
This is a BandB with exceptional character.
The location is in a lovely established part of Taumarunui close to the town centre.
We enjoyed a fabulous continental breakfast including June's homemade muesli.
Our bed was supremely comfortable and we were warm and cosy in our room. There was a lovely fire downstairs in the lounge which was very inviting.
Staff were awesome thank you Steven and team for all your hospitality. The rooms were great fit for my Son and I. The tables outside designated for smokers nice touch though we don't smoke it gave my Son and I outdoor personal space. And the views of the sky over Hospital hill amazing as in photo from the balcony of our room
Even though it is a older style motel really enjoyed the stay. The room was spacious with kitchen dining area and second room, it was very comfortable, clean and warm. The awning out front was a bonus for undercover car parking. Even enjoyed the sounds of diesel trains and trucks.
Handy to Taumarunui and peaceful. A good place in fine weather.
Comfortable sleeping arrangements and the cabin was very roomy.
The fridge and lighting ran off 12V batteries charged by a solar panel and there was plenty of 12V power.
Shower was good.
Simple but clean. the breakfast of cereal, yogurt & toast was delivered as we arrived so we could leave at our leisure the next day. Plus plenty of milk in little bottles not those horrible little plastic things with only a drop of milk.
I didn’t have the breakfast. The space was listed as off the grid and it was. Solar power , gas cooker to make cup of tea. I thourghly enjoyed my stay at Grand dads. Friendly warm hosts. Liked that it was pet friendly
Everything was wonderful and Helen was a very friendly and welcoming host. Breakfast was served in the dining room which made a lovely change from eating in the room. My granddaughter loved the spa bath!
Lovely breakfast, home cooked to perfection. Relaxed and peaceful tranquility. Stunning acres of developed gardens. Could just amble through the gardens for hours. Pleasant and friendly cats!!
The motel is in a great location, the room rate is very good, and our room was exceptionally clean. We will stay there again the next time we are visiting family in Taumarunui.
Unit was behind the Hotel (i.e., at the centre of town!). Tidy and clean. Nice outlook to the north. We were provided with a storage area for our bikes.
