DOMS Boutique Living, hotel in Mellieħa

Situated 1.5 km from Mellieha Bay Beach, DOMS Boutique Living offers 4-star accommodation in Mellieħa and has an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar.

We stayed at this wonderful boutique hotel in February this year (2024) . It is such a find that we rebooked before leaving to return next year and bring our daughter. We checked in after midnight due to a late flight, but the hotel had given us a code for the front door and our room. There are no room keys but key code pads, very handy! The biscuits, water, and tea and coffee facilities, as well as the complementary prickly pear liquor, were most welcome. The room was spotless, and the bed was most comfortable. The hotel has a lively rooftop pool. It is off a very picturesque and peaceful square, with lots of restaurant choices. Breakfast was included, and we just had to pop across the square to the beautiful sister restaurant. Breakfast is generous and excellent quality, as well as the service. The reception staff in the hotel were so lovely and helpful.

Love the area, great restaurants (Wagu was our favourite). Theres so much to see and do without the hustle of tourists. Took a 10 min taxi to Golden Bay beach for a hike, you are pretty central to everything. Lovely shops and definitely take a stroll to Sea View Cafe, stunning views with good food and a happy hour.

It’s a quiet town with a reasonable amount of pubs and restaurants. It’s a good base to stay but we went to different places each day. There isn’t enough to keep you busy for a full week if you like to do things on holidays.

We went in the off season (mid April) so the area was quiet and it was easy to get a restaurant, although on the other hand many restaurants were very dead with only 1 or 2 groups inside. The weather was good although very windy, good enough to sit on the beach but not sunbathe or swim. The town was very pretty, it's nice to take a walk up the hill and see the views and older buildings. We would recommend Blu Club, Amami, and the mellieha heights area at the top of the hill.

Mellieha is a beautiful calm and small town which makes it perfect if you want to avoid crowded cities with a lot of traffic and mass tourism. Climb up the hill and you'll have a fantastic sight onto the bay nearby. the upper town has also beautiful narrow streets and typical houses to see. Not that easy to travel in Malta in general, due to some public transport issues. If I went again, I would avoid long displacements across the island, I would just visit the places nearby. If you are in the northern part and want to have a dayout to the southern Malta, it make take you 4-5 hours go/back with public transport. To avoid the stress and the frustration, stay and visit the places nearby. It's a good excuse to go again and visit the places you missed before!!

Labrsnda Hotel is outside of Mellieha Bay, very vl9se to the ferry port to Gozo; and there are no restaurants or bars nearby. So full board is recommended unless you get a bus, vtaxi or walk to Mellieha Bay which is bustling and it has a lovely sandy beach. Please note that now on HB, no drinks are included. They were in 2023: local beer, wine and water. We stayed in March 2023 on HB and booked again for March 24; but were not informed of these changes until the first night at dinner when we received a drinks bill. The green room compensation scheme has also changed: no 'free' ocktails per day per room. Seems to have been a change over "free" alcohol options (although you could've opted for a mocktail previously.) Drinks are now only available on fully inclusive. However, at the time if booking for us via booking. Com , no all incl was available; neither were we offered an upgrade at reception upon checking in; nor a change in their HB services. So, a cautionary note when booking.

Mellieha is a small town with not a lot to do or see except the supurb WW2 tunnels used as air raid shelters. Also a couple of churches. The Christmas market was on in the square when we were there, which was interesting. The bus network is fabulous and it is easy to get to anywhere on the island or to the ferry port for Gozo. I recomment the Talinja card for discounted travel.

My wife and I have stayed in other stars branch hotels in Malta for a few days before we extend the trip a bit longer.. I think staying in a private holiday apartment is a much better choice than hotel resorts. It is much cheaper and you have a lot more privacy and get to know locals better. This is not something you can do if you stay in fancy resorts. Amazing seafront view, spacious areas, well-equipped with everything you need, quiet location. Surely recommend it to friends and family next time they go to Malta.

This hotel is really unusual in the way it is built into the side of a seven story urban hillside. It is warren of stairways lifts and corridors. It keeps you on your toes and offers lots of new hidden discoveries like the infinity pool, the cave bar and the spa. The staff especially the housekeeping staff were all super friendly and polite which makes a real difference when you are travelling alone. Thank you. My room rate represented great value also.

Apartment had been really huge, well equiped, modern and hot tube on the balcony really clean and preperaded to be used with 35degres of celsius hot water, amazing for relax. At arrivel we have found nice welcome surprise like fresh strawberries in fridge, bottle of wine, water & biscuits. Dedicated parking space in garage. Accomodation is bigger as expected. The Hotel is situated in a secluded but beautiful area of Malta. It has a beautiful Seafront terrace where one can relax whilst enjoying a drink. We liked the fact that the cocktails are value for money actually very cheap when compared to the norm. The room was very clean as well. The breakfast was superb. We loved the ginger shot before going for breakfast. And the apple juice whilst waiting at the front desk for checking in.

Staff service is amazing, always on hand to help. Bed and pillows are great and when they knew it was my birthday they upgraded my stay and gave me a beautiful view which I highly appreciated! They even put a slice of cake wishing me a happy birthday in my room. I can't ecommend staying here enough. The hotel is beautiful. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in Malta. Thai food at their restaurant was fantastic also.

We had a wonderful stay! Nice location near a bus stop plenty of choices for food within the area. Our hosts were delightful! Edwin was very helpful with any questions we had and his wife Tessa kept the property very clean and orderly. Tal-Kampjin is a lovely atmosphere! We enjoyed our time in Mellieha! A relaxed place to have as a base to explore both Malta Island and nearby a short ferry ride to Gozo!

The location close to Mellieha Bay is amazing. We really enjoyed being able to go on quick walks to the beach. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The amenities like the pool and the restaurant/bar are also very convenient. The mini market is also convenient as there is no big grocery store nearby. Hotel is located near a ferryboat port and bus stations is in the front of the hotel. Yet, if you come to Malta to explore, it is situated far away from all other cities and you will travel a lot. Room is spacious, bed is very comfortable, towels are new and soft. The receptionist was very friendly and provided us with all needed information about the hotel and Malta, as well.

Location is great! One of the best beaches in Malta is just in front of the hotel. We booked the hotel especially due to this beach and did not regret on our choice. One minus of the location is a camping close to the hotel, and, if your room does not have a seaview, then you will have quite noisy neighbours from the camp. The breakfasts were good with a vast variety of food.

Location to the Gozo ferry was nice; hotel was 200m from the 41/42 bus line to Valletta, though the 1h15m ride generally takes close to 2h w traffic. The hitel restaurant and lobby were generally loud and busy w many tourists though this was shoulder season (early May). Outside pool was nice and staff generally helpful.
