Great choice for the sleep over (on the way to/back eg Gardaland), much better than Trieste - there is a free of charge parking, spacious rooms, very clean and nice breakfast and was so quite. City of Monfalcone is not much picturesque, but is charm at the end, with impose ship cranes :) There is a museum dedicated to ship building, looks interesting, but we did not have time for a visit :/

Monfalcone is not the most touristic place to be. we were there for a regatta so we visited, the sailclub/marina! we visited Slovenia (the caves) visited Trieste, Udine, Grado,... Monfalcone was fine, and a good place to start these visits. I like the authenticity and it not being touristic,

I wish I hadn't planned for 2 days here - everything was so expensive, much more so than other places in Italy. The locals did not seem to be very welcoming of my presence although I did try to be as polite as possible and avoid the "annoying tourist" stereotype. I felt quite trapped in the small town and didn't know where to go - most cafes advertised as being open on google maps were actually closed...

The hotel is in a very quiet, park-like location, just a short walk from the city center along historic villas of the Fincantieri managers. There's free parking around the area, and from one of the side streets you could enter also the hotel parking. Beds were comfortable and reception area was very welcoming.
