I was blown away by the wonderful staff, friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Chrysoula, who took care of us throughout our stay and provided help and advice, e.g. what to see during our relatively short stay. The welcome with lemonade on a warm day was also very nice, as well as the transfer to and from the hotel. Tasty and varied breakfasts, with elements of regional cuisine. Pleasant and clean rooms. Bath cosmetics, even sponges and toothbrushes for those who forget, and an extra towel for the beach.
Margado is built on a hill over the bay of Kamares, the picturesque port of Sifnos, 300 meters from the beach, offering a panoramic view of the bay.

One of the wonderful aspects of Chrisopigi is that it is -...
One of the wonderful aspects of Chrisopigi is that it is - for most - a bit of a day tripping enclave on the island. Out of season, May/June or early September, it is relatively free of swarms of tourists/screaming kids or holidaying families. Staying here in or out of high season comes at a serious premium, so it's terrific for honeymooners, retirees or couples with kids that have long fled the nest. If you are thinking of bringing kids, don't bother. Platis Gialos is the better bet down the road and much safer for kids with more food options.
Its also a great base as cars are cheap to rent and are really only needed for a few days to get to places like Vathi or Fikiada, Apollonia or Kastro (there is very little on the very north of the island and Kamares is tumbleweed). But if you are between 25 and 70 with some money in your bank account - this is a fantastic place to stay.
There are wonderful rocks to dive off, great views and gorgeous walking trails up to Apollonia and Faros. The local food is simple, fresh and energising. And the people are golden hearted, friendly and life is good as long as you keep your voice down.
