The centre of Paignton is terrible, unless you want a lot noise, crowds, and a pier where gambling and plastic entertainment is wanted. A huge number of cafes, but shuttered at night, and few places to eat in the evening
The beach furthest from the town centre is good. The location of Paignton is good for travelling on the steam train (£22.50 per adult return including ferry to Dartmouth) to Kingswear/Dartmouth. The Coastal Path is definitely worth walking.

Multi screen cinema on the front is only £4-99 if you book via your phone on the Vue website, at this price there is always plenty of seats available. The cinema overlooks Torbay road which has amusement arcades a few bars , cafes etc. There is a short stroll into town from here with a number of shops including Poundland. Plenty of buses available if you fancy a 15 minute trip into Torquay.

Paignton sea front was too busy for me but the actual town and the outskirts of the town have everything you need. Travelling to all the other towns and villages was very easy and paignton is a great base. The beaches around the coves are amazing.broadstones beach is stunning. All i will say is be prepared to pay everywhere to park even the beaches make sure you carry cash for the toilets too.

We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre.
We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre. Did go into Paignton. Quite busy on the seafront. The pier is mainly a big arcade. We couldn't access to the end of the pier when we went . Didn't go into the shopping centre.
We did get a Chinese take away from Rickshaw Boy and ate it in the car overlooking the sea ( made a change to fish and chips) We spent the day at the Zoo which was well worth it. Saw baby orangutan amongst other animals.
We went to Totnes which is a quirky place full of boutique shops, cafes and had a lovely feel about it.
Breakfast was excellent so much choice to choose from English fry to cereals, fruit and cooked freshly was superb, having a fridge and cool fan in the bedroom for this time of the year in July was excellent!!!
Friendly family run hotel, Molly was nice and cute dogs.
Location is like my second home, where my Grandparents lived in Paignton so I've been visiting Paignton since I was a child of eight years old.
I love the hotel right near the beach, Vue Cinema and town. It has everything here! I'd definitely recommend staying here.
Wonderful weekend spent at this Hotel. James was a superb host and made for a very welcome stay for my Husband and I. Our dog was able to be accommodated, which for us made this hotel a favourite in the area. Paignton seafront green ideal for morning walks. Rooms were spotlessly clean and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Adam new staff member this season is also very pleasant and welcoming. Definitely will return when visiting family. Thank you all for a fantastic weekend 🤗

To be perfectly honest, the first breakfast we went to the dinning room, both our words were WOW, it’s like the Jewel in the crown, very modern, absolutely spotless, food was gorgeous and very well presented
Hayley & Paul are two of the nicest people you could wish to meat and rest of the staff ever so nice, we have stayed in many guest houses, hotels etc in Paignton over the past 40 years this is defiantly now our number one
Room, not the biggest but good view of beach and Paignton pier. Staff, as always, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and cooked to order. Old building with lots of character has been granted planning to upgrade. Hopefully this will be done sympathetically in keeping with the interior character. Bed was comfy and hotel clean. Have stayed before and will certainly stay again.
The hotel has an excellent location on the Paignton sea front. Our bedroom was comfortable with an efficient shower and a view over a park. The breakfast menu offered a good range of dishes. Entertainment was provided in the evening. The hotel car park was free for guests. Overall, the hotel provided good value.
The room was a perfect size, the Breakfast was exceptional, staff were attentive and helpful.
The hotel's position was perfect for what we needed and made our stay all the more enjoyable.
Facilities within the hotel were top class and the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly.
A quirky and interesting building which is over 100 years old. The staff were friendly and helpful. Requests were promptly dealt with. Room was a good size and bed was comfortable. Views from the restaurant and bar are magnificent. Easy walk to Paignton Pier and the town centre.
We booked a one-night getaway and it was nice and calm in the place we stayed. Having never been to Paignton before, the hotel was in a good location overlooking the pier and waterfront. Staff were lovely and the room was nice and clean with a good view.
Great hotel, we needed somewhere for a one night stay on a budget, far exceeded what we paid, clean, tidy, friendly.
Rooms were warm, water hot, signs of recent refurbishments well done, definately will be back when working in the area later this year.
The proximity to the harbour and seafront. Staff very helpful and keen to make sure I had a change of room when there was a small problem with the door on the first.Informative and pleasant in the reception and at breakfast.
The hotel is lovely and clean and The owners are very helpful and friendly. The location is very handy for everything Paignton has to offer.I would definitely stay again.Great value for money.
