Lovely area, right on the end of Loch Ness with terrific views. The Canal Locks are great to watch in operation, with all types of boats going through. Good restaurants and nice pub along the canal. Good central place to visit other areas, Inverness, Mallaig and Fort William.

Situated at the end of Loch Ness with a steep set of locks which form the start of the Caledonian Canal, Fort Augustus is a must visit destination if you are in the area. There is a good sized car park and an excellent choice of places to eat. We had an excellent meal at the Chinese restaurant. Lots of opportunities for boat trips along the loch and some nice shops for souvenirs.

We stayed here only one night whilst doing the Great Glen Way although it seemed like a beautiful place and there seemed to be many other things to do in the area. Lots of options for dinner (compared with other towns along the way).

Fort Augustus is a great spot to attractions in the area and easy drive for location upto 2hours away, like Glencoe, Fort William, Glenfinnin Viaduct, Aviemore ski fields, Urquart Castle, Inverness, Skye. Cruising or walk along Loch Ness are brilliant.
The town is gorgeous with many good eateries within walking distance or a short drive away.
Locals are friendly, inviting and engaging. I would live there if I could!

Didn't see much of Fort Augustus really.
Didn't see much of Fort Augustus really. Walked around a bit in the evening when we arrived. Only there for 2 days and used as a base for trips around Loch Ness - Urquart Castle, Culloden Battlefield. Which were all great.
Arrived on a Friday night after 8pm in early November. Only places still serving food were a very expensive Chinese restaurant in a hotel and a place called The Moorings which appeared to be a kebab shop that dabbled in everything else. Unfortunately, they should stick to one thing and really try to nail that. We ordered the worst eat out Pizzas we've ever eaten - worse than home brand supermarket frozen and they were very expensive - £15+ each. Even the local chip shop was closed, at 8.30pm on a Friday! OK, we didn't come for the late night fast food. Bring your own or eat a good lunch.

Much quieter than Inverness and a delightful pretty village...
Much quieter than Inverness and a delightful pretty village with good pubs and recommend The Bothy. Take a short walk to the very bottom of Loch Ness. Also take a drive down the much quieter and superbly more scenic route down the east side of Loch Ness on B862/B852. Fascinating to see the canal locks in the village.
After staying in self-catering accommodation it was great to be in a hostel with a lot of like-minded people - a woman up from London running a marthon, a group of German climbers, everyone in love with the outdoors - lots of great books for free. We had a good, cheap and hot dinner - my veggie haggis was great - and breakfast set us up for the day. Great location close to Fort Augustus - perfect for seeing Loch Lomond and as a stopover on the way from Skye to Loch Lomond. Friendly laid back atmosphere much appreciated.
Very flexible check in (self check-in fo Covid), Great lounge / breakfast area, just enough parking (one space left) lovely feel to the place. Breakfast Ok for Covid times. Self serve, cereal, (with milk in Fridge) Porridge - just add boiling water - several flavour choices, tea coffee toast (make fresh yourself) - pretty good for self serve.
fort Augustus is lovlely, especially the lochs, much nicer than Fort William and Neptunes Staircase!
We had an enjoyable stay and Anne was very welcoming. Beautiful view from lounge area. Room was comfortable with good amenities. Breakfast was good. Location was ideal, on edge of Fort Augustus literally a 1 minute drive if that into town. The town is pretty and given size has a selection of places to eat. We had a great meal at The Boathouse which has a beautiful location on Loch Ness. Cannot fault anything.
Staff is great, the place is spacious (both rooms and common areas), quiet and comfortable. Many facilities - indoor sitting areas, back yard with sitting areas, pub, self-catered kitchen, books, games, piano, many electrical outlets, lockers, spaceius showers, great breakfast. Very clean.
The village is beautiful, with a grocery store, food and pubs, the Locks are lovely! And the are several hiking trails.
This is a perfect location for exploring loch ness and the surrounding areas - its a 5 minute walk from Fort Augustus, has ample parking on well maintained grounds and fantastic views (especially from the hot tub). The park is set in large grounds and there's loads of space - its a world away from the typical caravan park.
I was a little put off by the lack of presence on trip advisor, but don't be!
Fort Augustus is a great place to visit and can be used as a base to see surrounding areas. The village has plenty of food options and the lock is facinating. The accommodation was quite new, clean, extremely comfortable and well located with onsite parking. The host Heather was very helpful and presented the accomodation to an extremely high standard. We highly recommend Erriad Lodge.
Great location-a short walk, on a sidewalk, from Fort Augustus.
Comfortable and large room with huge jacuzzi tub.
Good instructions to access room. Breakfast left outside door in morning.
Driving from the north, it’s easy to miss the turn to the B&B.
Lots of restaurants nearby and fun to watch boats go through the locks.
The location was ideal right in the heart of Fort Augustus, easy walking distance to everything. The room was very nice and extremely clean and well presented. There is a cafe attached to the hotel for breakfast if you wish to eat there (coffee was very nice!) and the hotel was quiet despite being in a busy location.
- A cute and cozy B&B in Fort Augustus on Loch Ness. We had a great one night stay at this cozy and subdued B&B just a short walk from the canal and locks. We had two rooms both with twin beds, on on-suite and one with a shared bath. Solid breakfast, great host and good parking. We would definitely stay again.
This is a lovely property. The room is extremely comfortable with an incredible attention to detail. Anne is so hospitable. And Fort Augustus is a perfect location from which to explore Fort William, Loch Ness, Inverness, and the Isle of Skye.
Simple but very clean, stylish & well equipped. Fantastic shower & bath. Very comfortable bed. Self check in easy. Dog friendly but Not Dog smelly :-)
Well positioned next to the locks. Only stayed one night on route for NC500
A short, easy walk from the centre of Fort Augustus. A beautiful house, lovely room with a greatbathroom with a jacuzzi bath which was a treat after a long days hike. Breakfast was lovely. The host was a good communicator.
Great location close to Fort Augustus. The pod was very cosy and had everything you would need for a self-catered trip. Perfect for couples and small families. Staff were lovely! Just what you need for a mini-break.
Perfect spot. Fort Augustus is right on Canal by Loch Ness. Load of cafes & restaurants. Location excellent & could watch canal operations from Balcony. Great room size for 4 & spacious bathroom - will defo be back
I was happy with our bedroom as it had been recently refurbished , unlike the communal areas of the hotel.
It is in a lovely setting with a nice wee walk to the town of Fort Augustus the Fab views all around.
Lovely place in pretty Fort Augustus, lots of places to eat.
Room was great, spacious clean and comfortable - the shower was very impressive!
Great breakfast to start the day as well.
Holly is a fantastic host. The pod had everything you need. Beautiful views. Close to the gorgeous Fort Augustus & the famous Loch Ness.
Keep up the amazing work.
The property is really cool. Rustic and in a good location...close to Loch Ness and other areas. The staff was very friendly and the food was spectacular.
