If you want night life and activities and great wifi and phone reception, then this is not the town for you! Go elsewhere! Port is a sleepy and clean village but full of charm and beautiful old buildings. If you want to rest and recharge and enjoy the ambience of a riverside village, you’ve found it here. A car is necessary so you can easily access neighbouring villages - the footpaths are otherwise non existent and roads rather narrow. Only a few restaurants including pizzeria and the best patisserie but other services are not here, so come prepared or shop beforehand in Saintes, the closest largest town with train connecting to Bordeaux (1.5 hours approx).
