It was a while ago now but I think the breakfast offered a good range of choices, the food was very flavoursome and the location of our table with a view of the gardens was excellent.

The hotel is a superb renovation of an historic building and is peaceful and comfortable. We were welcomed warmly and given helpful information about the local area, including a recommendation for an excellent nearby restaurant. On-street free parking was available close by and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town centre.

Fabulous location, central but quiet. Very stylishly decorated, clean and comfortable. Superb breakfast with stunning fresh fruit display, gorgeous fresh croissants and pain au chocolate, local cheeses freshly baked bread yoghurts and cereals. Friendly hosts - exceptional value.

The restaurant was very enjoyable with an imaginative set menu and an accompanying wine flight. The restaurant staff were both knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Our Club room was OK but not great value for money. A week previously we had spent four nights in Dublin where, for the same price, we had a far superior room. However our biggest gripe was being charged 10 Euro for two tea bags, not two cups of tea, but just two tea bags. Despite questioning the charge the receptionist was adamant. It is a shame that such a meanness of spirit should mar what would otherwise been a very pleasant stay.

We love Montreuil-sur-Mer, and have been visiting it for some 30 years now. It's a lovely historic town, surrounded by ramparts with gorgeous views and walks all around, within a very compact distance.
It is full of history and Victor Hugo based Les Mis on it with a big Son et Lumiere in the Citadel in the summer, with most of the town taking part
It has many excellent restaurants and bars, and atmospheric walks. Great market on Saturdays with all kinds of events throughout the year.
Its location means you can be in delightful countryside instantly and it's a short drive to coastal towns like Le Touquet and Hardelot Plage, with beautiful sandy beaches and delightful seafood restaurants, as well as pine woods and golf courses.
Recommend the Valley of the Course just running up to the north, which is beautiful with the not-to-be missed chocolate factory in Beussant, and Desvres with its excellent ceramics beyond.
We always bring bikes, as great cycling, but watch out for the cobbles in the town centre. (Paves). Very helpful tourist office and lots of quality shops.
To be honest, we rarely go further south.
Love the town and the area. We just had a gorgeous summer break in October for heaven's sake!

This is a wonderful spot.
This is a wonderful spot. It is close to Calais as a convenient stop over and the town is very pretty. It is where Haig stationed the British HQ in WW1 and is full of history going back even further with impressive ramparts. We had a light supper at Crêperie le Clan des Elfes which is in a historic building with down to earth food; the galettes were freshly made and generous in portion size. Highly recommend the town and especially the accommodation we stayed in, Aux remparts de Montreuil.

Small place but equally beautiful.
Small place but equally beautiful. Plenty of restaurants and a few shops, enough to fill a weekend. We ate and drank in a couple of places throughout our stay and all very pleasant. We visited the citidel to find out a little more history and it was worth a visit, low cost to get in and very good, simple audio guide is included in this

You are greeted with a friendly smile as soon as you arrive.
You are greeted with a friendly smile as soon as you arrive. We arrived early and our room was ready so we were shown to our room. Great rooms with a large shower room. They have a Quaint old fashion games room. A room with a large fire and a lovely restaurant (you’ll need to book) we were lucky they called us to say they had a cancellation.it’s not too far to drive to a lovely Sandy beach with a nice little town to get something to eat from a good patissory or an evening meal. And lastly! You don’t have to vacate your room until 11am.

I've stayed in Montreuil many times when travelling to/from Tunnel s/l Manche, my usual hotel was unavailable this time. I found the room excellent (the air cooling most welcome in the 30C heat), quiet location (at the back of the hotel), good shower & plenty of hot water, hotel well located for Montreuil restaurants & centre ville. An added attraction was the availability of secure parking for my motorcycle (9 euro per night). Would I book here again - yes; would I eat here again - no.
What a great find - this hotel seems like it has recently had a complete renovation - its perfect, modern but still manages to feel traditional and in keeping with the beautiful town it sits within - LOVED THIS PLACE!
Room was BIG with a private outside terrace - completly silent on a Friday night in the middle of peak period!
Breakfast was GREAT and a really reasonable add on!
Overall - outstanding value for money - SO LOVELY will be back
Location was excellent in a quiet corner of Montreuil near the citadel. We booked a Luxe room which was located on the 2nd floor. It was spacious, bright, very clean and the bed was really comfy.
Good breakfast.
Lovely garden for relaxing and having a drink, however nowhere inside if the weather is bad.
The staff were really friendly.
We easily found free parking opposite the hotel but this may not be the case in high season.
Super convenient spot with free parking outside, a short walk from the centre of Montreuil.
The hosts are really helpful and kind, and their property is beautiful.
They go to a big effort with breakfast and the bread and pastries from a local boulangerie are wonderful.
Montreuil has wonderful restaurants and food shops. We came back completely laden with goodies.
A great place to stay, would thoroughly recommend it.
Stayed at the Coq several times over the last 20 years and it meets all our needs as a family with a dog. There is a Vet in town who will give the tapeworm tablet for entry into the UK. The Coq is more expensive than some other Hotels but cheap does not always pay off. The breakfast has changed its format due to COVID but is still excellent. We will be back. The Coq is like a fine wine.
This is an exceptional small hotel. It is old and has been done up beautifully. The family that run it were very friendly and helpful. The suite was roomy and tasteful. Breakfast was excellent. There is parking outside the hotel and the location is in the centre of the old city. Montreuil is well worth a visit and is famous as the location of the Les Mis story.
Le Tannerie was amazing. It was a really beautiful building in a wonderful garden and the room itself was amazing. Lydie and Frederic were gracious hosts and nothing was too much trouble (even my gluten intolerance which proved no problem for Lydie who made me baked goods every day). The location was fantastic for Montreuil-sur-mer,. We can't wait to go back.

Good size room with comfy beds. All a bit jaded though with very stained carpets and decor a bit like a conference centre. Great little bar area and a fabulous barman who remembered our order and room number and was a real highlight. Plus we loved the hotel cat! (Who stays outside, for those not fond of cats)
Lovely welcome from the host- showed us around the appartment and helpful hints re: restaurants to try.
Fresh, clean, modern appartment in a lovely old building.
Great facilities and in an ideal location- short walk into the centre of Montreuil-sur-mer.
Hope to return.
WOW. Best hotel room/suite we have ever stayed in, Huge, tasteful and very stylishly furnished. Big comfortable bed, Great bathroom and facilities. Great powershower. Lovely grounds. Nice breakfast and helpful, friendly hosts
We didn't have the breakfast. Ambiance was really good and the Hotel presented itself superbly, would definitely recommend and we will return should we need to stay in the area again. Staff very attentive.
