Stamford Plaza Brisbane, hotel in Brisbane

Offering absolute riverfront accommodation and featuring river views from every room, Stamford Plaza Brisbane is perfectly positioned on the banks of the Brisbane River and is just a few steps from...

Upon arrival, the main foyer looked very upmarket and impressive, rooms themselves however looked very dated, though this may have the look they were aiming for decor wise. Unfortunately for a hotel that I believed was stylish and upmarket it was a disappointment, with poorly maintained and unclean rooms, well the one we stayed in wasn't clean, and hadn't been cleaned for quiet some time by the layer of dust on the skirting and behind the bedside tables. The shower wasn't cleaned to a satisfactory standard, with noticeable mould on the grouting. Couldn't say that I liked much about this hotel, even the buffet breakfast was average at best. The only good thing was the bed, which was super comfortable...

Novotel Brisbane Airport, hotel in Brisbane

Ideally positioned within the Brisbane Airport precinct, this Novotel hotel offers modern rooms and suites, restaurant, bar and 24-hour reception.

It took me over an hour to get from the Domestic airport, after I had returned my hire car, to the hotel. I had no instructions as to how I should proceed to the Novatel. After asking several people I was told it was close to the International airport and to get the free transport bus - WRONG - I needed to get the bus to the DFO which was close to the hotel. It was only after a helpful security guard at the bus stop at the International Airport found out this information for me that I waited for another 25 minutes for the correct bus to come and take me to the correct stop - 5 minutes away - frustrating after a long drive.

FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-Drenched and Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laidback Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s arty South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just opposite is the towering skyline of Brisbane's CBD, where many hotels in Brisbane city centre are located.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. More shopping centres are found all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south you can hug one of the loveable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks – Wickham Park – contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the north-east, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

As well as central accommodation, Booking.com also offers hotels near Brisbane Airport in a north-eastern coastal suburb.

Hired a vehicle from Crazy Clarkes highly recommend them cheapest car hire. They are 10 Mins from airport and will come and collect you at the airport and drop you back of when you drop vehicle back to them. I hired a swift for 10 days and cost $238.00. Will use them again. Dont forget to visit the DFO close to airport for some great bargins and TJ Max across the road from DFO.

Beautiful city. Has everything needed or wanted. Walking distance, scooters, Uber. So much to do. So much to eat. Very friendly city. Stayed at Skytower in a sky high apartment. Great view of Southbank. Went to the markets. Tried so many restaurants. Threw some axes at Maniax. Burgers from Betty’s burger are to die for. Shopping shopping shopping.

Brisbane weather was great, public transport especially river trips were lovely, food was excellent, different areas of city almost like individual villages were lovely, art galleries, museum, theatre etc in South Bank such a great day trip in one area. Great for walking, feels safe, shopping was excellent and Brisbane airport is so easy by private car or train. And then you can also go to the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast for beaches or even further. A lovely spot only exception is driving in the city on one way streets with no where to pull over if you get lost driving in rush hour. Just avoid this and Brisbane is great.

Had a funky smell in the lifts, and the room when first entered, the bed wheels had no locks so it rolled away from the bed head, but was very comfortable to sleep in though. Loved the location as it was a short walk to Queen St mall, my kids loved it, also my two boys (18 and 20) went to the Hillsong church across the road and loved that there was the gym around the corner. Would've been nice if there was a room for families to all stay together instead of different units (my husband and our 5kids) we still enjoyed our stay though.

I have lived in Brisbane for thirty or so years and have worked there, and lived there with my family. It was still good, but more people everywhere. It is still nice and tidy in the City Centre and has good public transport. What to avoid? I don't know, we had dinner in a nice restaurant with friends at the Southbank, and our hotel was nearby in walking distance. One cannot ask for more.

Set on a quiet corner in the heart of Fortitude Valley, the hotel's location is perfect - just a few hundred metres from the entertainment precinct and China Town while also an easy walk or scoot to the CBD, riverside cafes and shopping area of Queen Street Mall. The location was perfect, surrounded by different restaurants, not far from the airport and the city or Fortitude Valley. Perfect place to chill. The bed was so comfortable, the pillows were so comfortable, as many hotels that's one thing that I find is not so comfortable. A very friendly neighborhood.
