The neighborhood is safe and nice, but mind that you would probably need a car if you plan to visit the city and not only stay around the studios. The host, Julia, is just an amazing and kind person. New Tudor Cottage one block from Chico State and downtown with private garage is located in Chico and offers free bikes. I loved this location right next to campus and the convenience of parking my car in the garage so that I could easily travel on foot. The fact that everything had a code made it really easy to enter the garage, yard and apartment. The little kitchen was perfect - it had everything I needed. Really appreciate there was a stove top in addition to the microwave.
