Staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, attencious and sincere. The hotel itself is a gem, its an older hotel but delivers a lot for its two stars. A lot of croatian families were there, atmosphere was very nice and cool. It is not a five star hotel or pretends to be it, but serves good food and lodgind for a fair price in a very nice location. So I have to reccomend it!

Great concept with the villas/bunkies. We liked the proximity to town for a walk and everything was close at the resort

Stari grad is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.Lots of very nice bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of little streets to explore.,Public transport is cheap so its easy to check out other places not too far away.We found Taxis to be expensive so try and negotiate a price before you get in.A very relaxing, laid back place, just right for a chilled out holiday.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried.
We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried. The food was delicious, the people were incredibly friendly, and the architecture was beautiful.
If I can recommend anything, it is to visit Blue Doors. The food was amazing and all the Owners family recipes, the wine we selected (which I believe was the house white) was made next door to the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and we chose this location for our final meal of our holiday.

A peaceful and beautiful port, quieter then Hvar, but still with excellent restaurants, nice landmarks and a lovely feel to it.
Melting Spot for coffee.
You can't get any day boats to the smaller islands from Start Grad- you (unless you pay to do a private excursion) so you have to travel back to Hvar to do this.

I really love this place!
I really love this place! I've been there three times (first time 12 years ago). But I have to admit that prices in restaurants have gone mad this year. I understand inflation and everything, but I've been to Rome before visiting Stari Grad and food in Roman restaurants was 20-40 percent cheaper! Stari Grad (and Hvar island as a whole) is gorgeous! But it's not Rome! And I'm pretty sure it's not only my opinion because I was there a year ago at the same time (mid June), and this year restaurants were half-empty and I saw a lot of people walking away after looking at the prices on the menu.

It's very quiet and small.
It's very quiet and small. A good breakaway from the many tourists! However transport is a challenge. Only taxis available and a bus. Taxis charge €50 to get to Hvar town where all the boat tours etc depart from. So you either need your own car or you need to catch the bus. In June the bus only ran at certain times which limited transport options from Hvar back to Stari Grad to exorbitant taxi prices! Information is not shared easily. One has to hunt everywhere for information. I do not believe I will be returning to Hvar. The boat tours are also over-priced for what you get.
We’ve stayed at the Place Hotel only for one night but it was a good choice !
The whole area has been renovated 1 year ago so looks spotless. Nicely done rooms with really comfy beds and beautiful view overlooking pool area. Restaurant is providing nice food options - I had octopus with grilled potatoes and pasta alla puttanesca - both really delicious 🤤 The whole team was very helpful and tried to make our stay special - once again huge thanks to all of you guys and especially to Boris 😀
See you next time !
Marija is an excellent host and really went out of her way to ensure we had a great stay in Stari Grad. She organised a taxi to collect us off the ferry, brought us to the local supermarket on arrival to ensure we had supplies, brought us to Jelsa for our PCR tests and back and also drove us to Hvar to catch our ferry to Dubrovnik!! If that isn't going above and beyond what is expected then I don't what is! Thanks Marija for everything, I really do appreciate all you did for us.
Hvar in spring is really beautiful. We wanted something low cost and this was definitely the best option. The host was very nice and helpful, always ready to answer our questions. Location is very close to the center, and in spring there are less tourists so you can enjoy this beautiful medieval town little bit more in its natural cloak. The house is really nice and the huge plus was the fact we were alone there :-))
Stari Grad is place for people who prefer quiet places. Historical town of Stari grad is very beautiful and beaches romantic - not packed with travelers. People, who like partying long night should choose city of Hvar or Split.
The apartment was extraordinary clean and tidy!
The land lady and landlord live in next apartment, they are really nice and helpful people. I recomed this stay to other similar visitors.
Location was OK, you are close to the center of Stari grad, you can be in just few minutes.
Room was very clean.
We came by car and was instructed how to buy weekly parking ticket. With it you can park anywhere around a hotel in regular public parking. We were using car everyday, but we never had a problem to find a parking spot regardless of the time of the day we were returning back.
The staff were amazing. Friendly and very hospitable. They always asked if we needed anything and organised a shuttle transfer with lively Ferris to Hvar town and back.
The pool and views were spectacular.
Could not fault the location. 5 min walk from the ferry and maybe 15mins into Stari Grad old town with options of little bays to swim along the way.
the location was great, very convenient for exploring Stari grad. the room was absolutely amazing and beautiful. the bed was so comfortable. she had grapes and water in the fridge waiting for us which was very nice. she was so helpful in arranging dinner plans for us and answering our messages at all hours of the day. we enjoyed our stay very much
Excellent breakfast, overall good selection of food which was freshly prepared.
The relaxed atmosphere in the hotel and its green and quiet setting on a walking distance from the charming Stari Grad.
Stylish decoration, great pool and sufficient beds by the pool.
Kind and helpful staff especially in the restaurant and by the pool bars.
That was for the first time we´ve had All inclusive in Croatia. It was really light all inclusive but for the price more than pretty good :) Our room with a beautiful sea view was perfect and a bed was super comfortable. Hotel Arkada is in a very great location in Stari Grad - ca 1 km near centrum but with several beautiful approaches to the sea.
absolutely lovely experience. host was amazing, she spent time when we arrived to tell us best restaurants and beaches to go to. could not have asked for more. Apartment was very comfortable and having the pool was perfect to float in to cool off and to watch the starts at night. highly highly recommend.
Such a lovely spot! Super comfortable, just a few minute walk to the heart of Stari Grad. Staff was super responsive and helpful. It was so convenient to have a supermarket below, we didn’t hear any noise from it and we loved the accessibility to grab anything we needed. We would love to come back!
Lovely location and great sea views, room and terrace were great. Breakfast once ordered to the room was much improved.
Complimentary transfers into Stari Grad and port are very useful. Reasonably priced transfers into Hvar Town - front of house service very good
Lovely place, super clean and great location in Stari Grad. It was unfortunate that I had to leave earlier, but cannot wait to visit again in this place. The host was so friendly that on the day I left she offered me a ride to the ferry port. Hvala ljepa i bok.
Beautiful spacious modern room with nice view from balcony. Free parking. Friendly host. Five minute gradual downhill walk to town harbor. Plenty of restaurants in town. It’s a 30 minute drive to the town of Hvar on the southern side of the island.
Wonderful apartment in a fantastic location. Beautiful old building, nicely updated. Walking distance from restaurants and beaches. Excellent, helpful, communicative hosts. We had a great time and didn’t want to leave!
Nice accommodation that is clean and comfortable. Close to Stari Grad centre which can be accessed from the Stari Grad port or by a bus from Hvar port on the other side of the island. Hosts were friendly and helpful
Town house Rosario was one of our favourite places to stay in Croatia. Rose was great from start to finish and so welcoming. The room was beautiful and easy access to stari grad. Would definitely stay here again!
Very comfortable apartment with balcony overlooking Stari Grad. Loved having coffee on the balcony and hearing the church bell ringing. Very peaceful and relaxing. Hosts were fantastic.
