Lakeside location, peace and tranquility. The cabin is spacious and had everything you need for family. While the cabin is dated, there was evidence of effort to keep it clean.
The breakfast is not included but was great value for the price and set in a nice lodge.
The staff was accommodating to our late arrival.
Will stay again.

It was smaller than I expected, but very friendly and quaint, and easy to navigate. I had a great time looking through the thrift shop and met wonderful people at the roadside restaurant called Krazy Fries. Food was great too!
I was able to pick up all the supplies I needed for my trip, and had dinner at the sub shop on my last night.

Beach and snowmobile trail enjoyable.
Beach and snowmobile trail enjoyable. Main road set up well with sidewalks; wide area of interlocking stone in downtown area with many benches to suit people of all abilities. North of 17 restaurant had very good food at a reasonable price. The Chinese restaurant was not as good as I expected and they only had take out.

The beach was lovely.
The beach was lovely. The Goose was the main attraction, and that took about 15 minutes. The facilities at this location should be closed. It was really really nasty and stink. The Tim Hortons was closed cause they did not have enough staff on the night we arrived. Subway was awesome. Customers in the Tim Hortons walked around without masks, walked up to the counter and checked out all the breakfast meals that were partially there as they were being setup. NO ONE HAD ANY OBJECTIONS TO ANY OF THIS!

This was the last leg of a road trip in an EV Chevy Bolt from Southern Ontario to Northwest British Columbia.
The booking was made late when I decided Wawa would be the stop for the night.
With a late booking, you do not expect a lot.
The room was very nice.
Had a great sleep and an early start.
Plus a Petro-Canada Fast Charger was close.

I was surprisingly happy with our experience at the big bird...
I was surprisingly happy with our experience at the big bird inn. Previous reviews were less then flattering. The property is undergoing renovations. We stayed in one of the “new rooms.” It was clean and fresh looking. Bathroom is big and modern in style. Laminate floors felt clean to walk on. I wish there were more convenient plug ins, to charge my phone and electronics.
The parking lots was pretty full, so I was worried about the hotel being nosey. We were able to sleep just fine, without hearing nose from other rooms.
There was a mini fridge in the room, but no coffee maker. However there was a coffee station in the lobby area by the front desk.
The town of Wawa is small and industrial. Expecting a 5 star hotel is not going to happen. The Big Bird Inn was a great little hotel for a family stop over, as we drive across Canada. The staff were pleasant, room was clean, beds were ok to sleep on (though very high for kids). What more can a person ask for?! I would recommend the big Bird inn to others.
Btw the Tim Norton’s (down the street) opens at 4am of you want coffee before you hit the road.

Nature spectacular.
Nature spectacular. Wawa lake was very peaceful and not at all crowded. Unlike Lake Superior, it was very warm and swimmable. They do a brilliant job of displaying the history of the town and the boom and bust cycles (presently more towards the latter). Really humanises the place. Hiking is not as plentiful as other areas unless you include Lake Superior Prov Park. And running into bears on walks out of town is a constant possibility.
This motel was SPOTLESS. As soon as I opened the door I could smell how clean everything was. It was super quiet, even though there were guests on each side of me. I was travelling alone and felt totally safe. Bed was pretty comfortable, room was large and had tv, wifi, a bathtub, coffee pot, fridge and microwave. The family that owns the motel are so nice and so accomodating - made me feel right at home. Will definitely be the place I stay on my way through Wawa!
A quirky little motel in the lovely little town of Wawa.
The man that runs the motel was very friendly and helpful. They have freshly baked muffins and coffee in the office every morning, delicious 😋.
There was a fridge and microwave in our room and the bed was very comfortable.
Only a 5 to 10 minute walk from the town, with The Viking restaurant across the road, serving great meals and drinks.
Nice quiet location south of Wawa. The new owners are doing a great job of doing little things that enhance your stay…well maintained parking lot, along with clean, updated and homey rooms with nice decor. Love the soap and shampoo dispenser in the bathtub. Real glasses and mugs for cold and hot drinks. Microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker and hair dryer in room.
the cleanest hotel/motel I had in my 10 days travel across country! fresh paint and carpet. the lady was just super sweet, loves her place and it shows.
no dust or crumbs anywhere even corners that are usually skipped or missed where A1.
anytime I have to go though ON I would call there again!
Our first stay was in the motel section - room 007 and we loved our stay. This time around, we were given Cabin 4 and are now convinced that this is our new stop when traveling through Wawa. Exceptionally clean, very warm and comfortable and the owners are super friendly! 100% recommend!!
Love this motel. This was our 2nd stay at this motel just off highway 17. Older motel that has been updated inside and out. All finishing are good quality. Comfy beds and has nice area with table and chairs, bathroom immaculate. This motel exceeds many hotels that I have stayed in.
It's a convenient location right off the highway before hitting Wawa. Rooms are what you would expect from a motel, and they were clean. My son left his pillow in the room, so we called the staff, who were able to set it aside for us to pick up on our return through the area.
After a long day driving this was a reasonable place to stay. The room was clean, the beds comfortable and the hotel pretty quiet. We were pulling a small cargo trailer and there was parking available for that and several SUV’s towing fishing boats. Good value for the price.
The room was very spacious and well equipped. I found it extremely charming and the beds were comfortable with awesome bedding! The kitchenette was a dream and the bathroom was fantastic. Anytime I will be in WaWa this is where we will stay for sure.
Decor very nice. Microwave not in room but accessible in a separate room makes for cleaner hotel room I think.
Loved the access to good coffee. Also like that smoking in rooms strictly prohibited and monitored.
Friendly owners, very clean rooms and office, nice bbq and bbq supplies. Coffee and cookies in the morning, what’s not to love about this place? Will definitely be coming back if we’re ever in Wawa again.
Very clean and comfortable hotel, friendly staff. A big plus is that pets are allowed . The hotel is very peaceful and quiet. There is everything you need to make yourself coffee or tea.
Thank you :)
This is a gem of a place to stay. So decorative, clean and quiet. I felt safe and in a warm cuddle in this beautiful room. The town of Wawa is hard to accept but this place made my stay A1
Poor parking unit is next door to hotel. Stairs to second floor will e very dangerous in winter. Outside with no cover. Would not recommend anyone to stay on second floor.
