The hotel was located very centrally and the staff was nice but did not speak English very well. They did try or relied on Google translate --which worked fine. The only "issue" we had was that the a/c did not work at night--although I have had that in other parts of Bulgaria where they say if the evening temperature is too cold the A/C does not turn on. It was very pleasant outside but the problem with leaving the window or terrace door open was the noise from the neighborhood dogs that roam all of the outskirt villages of Bulgaria (at least the ones we visited) --as do cats. It seems they are well fed but appears that they do not believe in spay and neuter :(

Skakavica hut has a marevelous location.
Skakavica hut has a marevelous location. The path marking on the way needs imorovenent. The hut has started renovating the building, but has still a long way to go. The rooms and corridors are very old style. The service and guardians are nice though.

We used the hotel as a stopping off point between the Rila Monastery and Sofia Airport so we weren't there for very long. Beware as the hotel comes up as being close to the monastery which it is as the crow flies but there is a mountain range in between! It is 70 miles away by road and is up a mountain road covered in snow and ice so not for the nervous driver in winter. However we enjoyed our stay very much as the hotel was quirky and we will remember it and possibly stay again if we do some trekking in the Rila Mountains.

I was looking for single day, round trails, rather than pass trough hiking trails. Found only few of them nearby: Seven Rila Lakes, Ribni Ezera and near Kostenets. The Seven Rila Lakes are nice, The Ribni Ezrea could be nice (our trip was canceled due to bad weather).
I Panichishte there are several nice restaurant and spas (even though we are not enthusiast by them).
We met groups of hiking guys that used Panichishte as starting point for they hike. You may do so as well.

The place is at a really nice location, and serves its goals. The staff was really friendl and helpful, some things could be upgaded (like the ater facility). All in all, I recomend it for hikers, and nature enthusiasts :)
Terrific hosts, Eva and her husband made our stay extraordinary. The rooms were comfy , clean and warm, believe me - that is not usual in Bulgarian mountains. We ate good dinner in spatious room at the bottom floor, typical dishes to share, but our group of 15 hungry hikers didn't manage to eat it all. After a dinner we could spent the time loudly joking and having some drinks. All that for the prize much lower than in bad hotel in Borovets, Bulgaria. I can highly recommend this hotel!
Located in the middle of the forest. If you come in ski season, it's almost ski to door. Cable carts are walking distance.
Very close to hiking trails and also walking trails outside hotel.
Silent around. Clean air. clean room.
Amazing host who speaks English and wants to help with everything. He has great hear and hiking recommendations. Spa was great (Sauna, Steam room and relaxation room).
Great breakfast - everything is fresh and is given from the heart.
Great stay!
Vasko, Boris, and Ivan were incredible hosts and did everything to make sure I had a memorable stay. The food prepared is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable about hikes in the area. The chalet is rustic but perfectly suits the surroundings. The location is great, tucked in the forest next door to a beautiful river and only 2.2km from the chairlift. A perfect base camp for exploring the 7 Rila Lakes and around!
Our host Boris was an exceptional host. He accommodated us from the moment we arrived, providing a comfortable room and cooking us a delicious dinner and breakfast. The evening we stayed in Lovna he stayed up with us, feeding the fire and speaking with us in Bulgarian, taking the time to teach me new words and telling us interesting stories. I would recommend Boris as a host!
The hut is in a beautiful location, we had a 4*4 so we coumd approach it by car. On the first night (Thursday) we were the only guests so we had some nice talk with Boris with the help of Google Translate. Next evening many Bulgarian travelers arrived and we had great chats, local wine and campfire so it was really a great experience overall :)
We were a party of 3 couples (plus 2 kids). The location of the hotel is great - very close to the 7 Rila Lakes lift, basically into the woods. The balcony of the room was very green. The staff was nice. There is breakfast included - french toast with local honey, cheese and tea. Great value for money.
I would like to start with the location, the clean room, and the amazing restaurant, incredible food and awesome staff! Felt amazing there, definetely i would visit again! Try the bulgarian bread with garlic and cheese, it's homemade and its so delicious!
The hotel has a great location near the seven lakes chairlift and we had a great view on the mountains. I was scared the restaurant was gonna be really expensive since it is a bit remote, but is was really affordable and good (for diner)!
Excellent location, quiet place, excellent food. The owners helped us with everything that we neeeded.
The Sauna area is also very nice.
They can get the hotel to the next level if they would also add a jacuzzi.
