One of the hidden gems of Swiss and hope it remains Hidden, so it doesn't become very commercial like other car free towns/villages of Swiss have. It doesnt even take ages to reach at such elevation with breathtaking views (can even see Matterhorn) is the deal breaker. It has lot of offer even for non skiers like sledge rides, variety of trail walks, the viewpoints for the largest glacier & enough hotels & apartment options for stay. Overall it makes a great base to explore the Great Valais, highly recommend !

Lovely small village without cars.
Lovely small village without cars. If you like hiking, you could spend weeks here; there's so much choice between Riederalp & Bettmeralp. And the very impressive Aletsch Glacier is absolutely worth a visit.

Absolutely stunning - best kept secret in the Swiss alps.
Absolutely stunning - best kept secret in the Swiss alps. We weren’t sure as we’d heard mixed reviews about how much snow we could expect but in the first week on January, there was heaps and we skied in and out without any trouble. Easy to get between towns on skis and several options for food. Expect Swiss prices - Berghaus Toni was best value all round and nicest in my opinion. Ideal family ski holiday destination. Would go back to Riederalp in a heartbeat.

If you’re skiing a Swiss Alps venue to hike, experience great food and a wonderful village, this place should be on the top of your list.
Berghaus Toni was the perfect place to stay and eat/drink. James and Brit were awesome at suggesting great hikes and helping to enhance the overall experience. We swam in a Mountain Lake, saw one of Europe’s largest Glaciers, went Zip-lining had some several wonderful hikes and really enjoyed our trip.

With another cable car ride one can get an incredible view of the Aletch glacier, well worth the cost to see at least once in one's life. Nice walks in the area, all with beautiful views although one is mostly limited to the ski area. The walk down to the glacier was worth it in order to get away from the "human" structures and get a view of the natural setting. Plus we could walk on the immense Aletch glacier.
This is a fantastic, spacious apartment. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning (you can even see the Matterhorn if you know where to look!). It has a very well-stocked kitchen, a brilliant shower and lovely big towels. The ladies who checked us in in the sports shop were really friendly and although lots of Reideralp is closed in the Summer we still found lovely restaurants and great food, including one just over the road. Would definitely recommend this place.
The staff were amazing, so friendly and accommodating. As it was not high season we had a great view from our room and nice balcony. The dinner offered was great and the waiter knew his local wines. The hotel isn’t far from the cable car coming up from Morel. The sauna downstairs was perfect after a long randonnée!
The haus is located very close to the Riederalp mitte station. The home was very neat and clean, especially the bathroom was clean and very well ventilated (though it had no window). The little kitchen was clean and very well equipped, very nice, modern cooking range. The hostess was friendly and attentive.
The family who rented the apartment was more than friendly and helpful. All was like a new in the apartment and the view was stunning.
Riederalp small town without cars is surrounded by Alps. Many hiking routes around, all easily accessible from the apartment.
Strong recommendation for this apartment.
- nicely decorated restaurant and excellent food!
- the staff was lovely and super flexible to cater to all our needs
- rooms were all cozy and super confortable
- location is just fantastic if your in for beautiful hikes and easy access to the Aletsch Glacier
We had a fantastic stay
Good location in west Riederalp this older building provides a good value stay. Owners are friendly and speak multiple languages.
Best of all is the dining and various sitting areas complimented by a wonderful breakfast and superb dinner . Highly recommend their fish and chips.
The hotel is very conveniently located. The restaurant in the hotel was good even the staff seemed to me new and not yet well aquainted to Swiss hotel guests who wanted to play a Swiss Jass. But I learned later that Covid rules did not allow the hotel guests to play a Jass.
Calm and cozy hotel with all comforts. The bar/restaurant in the hotel is really good. The village is amazing with an incredible view. Our 2-year-old kid was very happy with the kindergarten close to the hotel and our dog was really happy to walk around the mountains.
The furniture in the apartment is quite simple but well maintained. The balcony has amazing view. The apartment is just next to the cable car and coop. The apartment has a lot of space. The kitchen is well equipped including a coffee machine, fondue and Raclette sets.
Nice location, quiet, plenty of space, good views from the balcony and very well equipped. Host were very friendly.
It would be a good ski in ski our location in winter
location is great, very close to the riederalp cable car. the staff were very friendly and upgraded our room when they saw how tall the 'children' were.
