Beutiful views and a few skiing/ hiking possibilities around. There is only one slope for kids/begginers in the village of Alpbach but there is a skibus free for guests that leaves to the closest mountain (7min away) every 10-30 min. The town is cosy and not crowded (we were there in the first week of February). There are several restaurants but they have short/strange opening hours. Luckily, there is also a supermarket.
We came by train to Brixlegg and manage to get around with kids and without a car but I would recommend having one.

Smallish village, with outsize skiing.
Smallish village, with outsize skiing. Fairly large ski area - we skied for 4 days, could easily do a whole week. Not a huge amount in the village, but some pleasant restaurants. Relatively easy to get to without a car - train from Innsbruck, then mountain bus. Beautiful unspoiled Alpine village.

Very beautiful village and surroundings with lots of walks...
Very beautiful village and surroundings with lots of walks for all abilities and two lakes for swimming, Reither see just down the road and a bit further away in Kramsach the much bigger Reintaler see. It's a perfect location also for visiting the gorges and Achensee which is only a half hours drive away. The only problem is that there is really hardly anything in the village, two restaurants and a shop and in the evening it is deserted.

Alpbach is a very peaceful pretty village.
Alpbach is a very peaceful pretty village. It is quite residential so not many shops or bars (no partying) but the restaurants are good and there is a variety of food around - we enjoyed Post Alm (pre book online! Liveliest place, live music on Sundays) and also Messner’s. The Ski Juwel area (main ski resort) is a short bus and there are 2 bus stops in the village, they run fairly often to and from. Conny’s Sport is great for ski hire. There is 1 small ski slope located in the village “Boglerlift” with a button lift - great for beginners or to watch the Ski Show that is on certain dates. The mountain views are beautiful all over the village. Ski schools seemed great (didn’t use). There is a hotel Boglerhof with a spa that you can book massages etc even if you’re not staying there. We stayed at Der Berghof Hotel and it was great (highly recommend if staying in this area - however no pool.)
Amazing, Nice , friendly and helpful staff (family)
The room was so comfy, with a great bad, new tv, huge balcony, and modern furniture.
And the breakfast, wow, the breakfast was one of a kind, you get a table set up just for you with so many dishes and different pasteries,salads,juices and alot more, each is carfully placed with almost an artistic placement, each plate is decorated and thought of. The hotel also is decorated that way, and has a small popup shop with unique things you could buy. Dont miss on this place.
As always, Gitti and her family and hotel staff were amazing to us from the reception till the day we had to leave. Everything is amazing here, the breakfast is wonderful every morning, and the positive attitude from the staff is making you feel at home every time you come back. Rooms are warm and cozy, with amazing view of the mountains, and area is calm. Plus they are always welcoming us back with our dog, which is a very big plus or us. Definitely will come back again after being here for 3 years in a row.
- it's very close to the gondola;
- very close to the bus station;
- the alpbach card that you receive offers a lot (free traveling with the buses in the region, free rides with gondola, discounts, etc). -> we came during summer. during winter I saw that there other benefits;
- the apartment was very spacious. We could easily have acomodated 4 persons (we were only 2);
- the host was very friendly and helpfull;
- the facility has a small shop and a gas station;
A lovely surprise! We didn't know what to expect, from the hotel or the town, but we were warmly welcomed by the owner manager Kitty, and given an intro to the hotel, the hiking, local activities and the Alpbach card which enabled us to use chairlifts, busses and visit an outdoor museum for free. Loved the room and the terrace. The hotel is a true Tirolean guesthouse. Breakfast was probably the best we had. We would highly recommend Sonnwend.
We had the most fantastic stay! The accommodation was fantastic. The breakfast was the absolute best and Manuela and Andreas were such wonderful hosts.
The location was really close to the bus stop for the ski lift and walking distance into the village centre.
We had never visited Alpbach before but everything was so easy to navigate .
Cannot recommend this hotel enough!
The room we booked (suite room) is huge, the hotel provides onsite parking for guest. Breakfast is great with breads, juices, cereal, salads, hard boiled egg, cheese, bacon and raw fish. Don’t forget to claim your Alpbachtal Pass (it’s free for guests staying in the hotels here) it enables you to ride the gondola FOC plus many other activities in the town.
The owners and the service staff were helpful and very friendly and efficient. The hotel has a gorgeous garden and is very comfortable. The elevator makes life easy for getting heavy suitcases to our room. Our balcony with its boxes full of geraniums was lovely.
Nice hotel, with super good local atmosphere and you really feel welcome. Super clean simple rooms with all basic stuff you need on ski tours. Highly recommended.
Nice garage for skies including boot warmers. Possible to get a beer after skies.
A great guest house, big and comfortable rooms that had a balcony with a beautiful view of the valley, centrally located to walk into Alpbach but away from any noisy bars. Good breakfasts and the staff was very kind and helpful
This little hotel had the most incredible view of all the properties we stayed at on our 25 day vacation. The personal service of Frau Elisabeth and her family was amazing. What a great value. I’d stay a month if I could.
Everything was properly organized, clean, warm and the management went beyond our expectations to make us feel great and welcomed. Plenty of entertainment by the hotel, ski room is heated and spacious.
Beautiful apartment. About 5-10minute walk up from the bus stop and shops/restaurant (is uphill so bear in mind if wearing boots and carrying ski gear). Not an issue for us.
Very clean and well kept.
What a beautiful hotel with exceptional spa facilities! There are lots of areas for adults only where you can enjoy a swim and the serenity of the mountains while reading. Absolutely amazing!
Beautiful and quiet location with uninterrupted views over the valley, modern Austrian style and very spacious. Comfortable beds. Great local schnapps for sale. Exceptionally nice hostess.
