Scranton was a great place to visit.
Scranton was a great place to visit. Our stay was going well until the evening before our last day my 8 year old nephew was called a racist word by some young white men standing in the hallway of our hotel. He turned the corner of the hallway ahead of us headed to our room and when he turned the corner someone from the group looked at him and said "It's only a ni××××". They may have assumed he was alone. My nephew has never experienced anything like that before and it was upsetting.

We are only on a road-trip overnighter this time but on a previous trip to Scranton I came primarily for the railroad and coal history in the area. Beyond my limited interests, I can't say it's much of a tourist destination (other than for fans of "The Office " TV show). However, it could be considered as a steppingstone to the Poconos mountains area.

Lived there prior. We were in town for a family funeral. Scranton is a good place to be from. Not entirely sure, if all would see it in the same light as we do. However, from a historical perspective, the reflections of the railroad and mining industry still present possibly offers some interesting insight and information.

Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions.
Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions. Very cool city with lots of interesting and historic architecture. Interesting Steam locomotive museum in town.
The Glider Diner has an excellent breakfast for a bargain and Coopers seafood is an awesome spot for supper with tons of memorabilia and an extreme selection of beer available.
The streets in town are poorly labeled and riddled with potholes but otherwise navigation was pretty straightforward.
This is a wonderful hotel. Steeped in history, a friendly welcome and conveniently located for exploring Scranton. We arrived by bus and it was a 10 minute walk from the station. Easy to access, warm and generous facilities. The hotel bar is GREAT! With comfortable and spacious rooms, excellent breakfast and dinner options and the best hospitality I have ever experienced in a hotel bar, I can't recommend staying here enough.
The hotel is in a lovely spot, up in the hills. It was really clean and cared for, the lobby just shone. It was very welcoming, and close to restaurants and shops in Scranton. Our rooms were spacious and clean. We stayed in several hotels over our ten-day trip and we all thought this one was the nicest. They even gave us a little free bag of snacks and bottled water when we arrived.
A full breakfast both days including waffles which delighted my granddaughters. Breakfast on Saturday was excellent. Sunday all good except sausage. We were all treated with warmth and kindness including my therapy dog. Because the staff were all so helpful and kind, room and rest of facility was very clean and well lit we will stay at this Hampton Inn again without hesitation.
We stayed one night on our way north. The hotel is easy to locate next to I81. The room is a nice size with desk and couch. It had a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom has 2 sinks, one on the outside of the bathroom and the other in the bathroom. Could be usefull but we didn't use the outside one. The shower had good pressure. The bed was very comfortable.
Check in was quick and efficient. we were even showed how to hold the key card to unlock the room door. the lobby and breakfast area was clean and welcoming. the grounds were clean and there is a walking path. plenty of parking. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was decent - eggs, bacon, bread choices, coffee, juice, yogurt, cereal. A safe place.
Our room (221) was clean, quiet and comfortable. The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable. Tyler at the front desk was extremely polite and helpful and an asset to Hilton. The indoor salt water pool was clean and the hot tub was a plus. It’s a “10 plus” stay for sure.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Slept like we were on a cloud. The breakfast was pretty good...not like some hotels that have a nominal breakfast just to say there was some food. Pool looked nice too...we felt bad we didn't have a chance to use it
It's a beautiful, grand hotel, converted from a former railway depot. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within walking distance, including a mall. Since it is next to Scranton University, the area is very vibrant.
I love the property and the amenities. This is a beautiful place. This was our second stay but I wish I didn't let them know that because second room was not as nice as the first.I love this hotel though.
Nice location in Scranton. Located in downtown city near all must sees. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel, it was very nice. We also enjoyed the great amount of bathing products in the bathroom.
The whole property inside is beautiful, the staff is always friendly, the rooms spotless, as well as all the common areas, and of course I love the pool.
