Scranton was a great place to visit.
Scranton was a great place to visit. Our stay was going well until the evening before our last day my 8 year old nephew was called a racist word by some young white men standing in the hallway of our hotel. He turned the corner of the hallway ahead of us headed to our room and when he turned the corner someone from the group looked at him and said "It's only a ni××××". They may have assumed he was alone. My nephew has never experienced anything like that before and it was upsetting.

We are only on a road-trip overnighter this time but on a previous trip to Scranton I came primarily for the railroad and coal history in the area. Beyond my limited interests, I can't say it's much of a tourist destination (other than for fans of "The Office " TV show). However, it could be considered as a steppingstone to the Poconos mountains area.

Some fascinating historic sites: Steamtown.
Some fascinating historic sites: Steamtown. We drove around and looked at the Art-Deco buildings. Very interesting city.
We bought frozen dinners for our meal but there are many restaurants in the city.
We were very happy to stay over in Scranton.

Lived there prior. We were in town for a family funeral. Scranton is a good place to be from. Not entirely sure, if all would see it in the same light as we do. However, from a historical perspective, the reflections of the railroad and mining industry still present possibly offers some interesting insight and information.

Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions.
Visited for a tour of 'The Office' landmarks and mentions. Very cool city with lots of interesting and historic architecture. Interesting Steam locomotive museum in town.
The Glider Diner has an excellent breakfast for a bargain and Coopers seafood is an awesome spot for supper with tons of memorabilia and an extreme selection of beer available.
The streets in town are poorly labeled and riddled with potholes but otherwise navigation was pretty straightforward.
The hotel is in a lovely spot, up in the hills. It was really clean and cared for, the lobby just shone. It was very welcoming, and close to restaurants and shops in Scranton. Our rooms were spacious and clean. We stayed in several hotels over our ten-day trip and we all thought this one was the nicest. They even gave us a little free bag of snacks and bottled water when we arrived.
we got here super late ~ but the front desk come out Immediately! it’s a nice Gentlemen:) the room is super comfy I like the design too~ feel like home. the breakfast have more then I thought. the most hotel or just few or canceled…. I really enjoy stay here. I’m looking for somewhere close to my work to stay 2night per week. I think this is a good choice ~
Great location - walking distance from everything basically. Free and comfortable parking, the hotel is a piece of art inside and outside and Anthony at the reception is an amazing person who we will never forget!! (Greetings from NL Anthony). The room was super clean, everyone was helpful and we would love to return again.
I wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but for being a reasonably priced hotel it met all of my needs. The perks were; friendly staff, convenient location, microwave and fridge in the room, and free Netflix. There was for sure a musty hotel feel but it overall seemed clean.
Location is great! Pool and hot tub was a great bonus! The kids loved it! We were here two nights before and that room was very clean and large. The staff! They are helpful and friendly. Why we came back for another night! Dining/ community area clean and very inviting.
Staff were friendly. Interior was clean and neat, room was also clean and neat. Sheets were a bit sketchy since they didn't "seem" fresh, but I was too tired to be concerned about it. Normally when I stay in hotels, the sheets at least have a clean smell.
We stay at this property every time we visit Scranton and it never disappoints. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgable, location is excellent and the rooms are beautiful and clean clean clean! We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
Nice location in Scranton. Located in downtown city near all must sees. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel, it was very nice. We also enjoyed the great amount of bathing products in the bathroom.
The facilities and the restaurant were amazing. The hotel itself was very clean, but our room looked like it could have done with a little more attention. The room was very comfortable.
Magnificent lobby and dining room area. We are coming back every year because of the grandeur of the place. Comfortable rooms and beds. Good room service, good food, allowing dogs.
Very expensive night for an average room. I suspect the room rate was elevated because of the Scranton University graduation. Hotel was nice, but not worth $400+ a night!
