We went to historic attractions ( Susan B Antony Home) as well as the museum of science and several local restaurants. We were there for a few days preceding the eclipse in April. There is a lot to do in Rochester and you can get there by car or Amtrak.

Rochester offers some great restaurants and sights to see even when you are just passing through the area. The Owl House was a favorite spot as was Strangebird. We also walked around the Strong Museum and the Museum of Play.

The Best Western was close and they sent a shuttle to pick us up so it was great that we didn't have to deal with getting a taxi at that late hour. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and the room and main areas were very clean. There isn't anything else around there as far as places to eat but for a clean convenient placde to stay for one night it met our expectations.
