Mariposa is a nice country town with good range of shops, services and food options for its size (including a supermarket), even in our early spring visiting time. This is due to its proximity to Yosemite NP about 70km away (our reason for visiting). If using the YARTs bus service to access the park its a great base.

Mariposa is about as close you can get to Yosemite without staying in the park, but it's still an hour drive from the valley. This is fine if you're visiting the park for 1 or 2 days, but after 2 days, you'll definitely have had enough of the driving. The town itself is very cute and has tons of nice places to eat. There is also a very large supermarket.

The Day and Night Staff were very kind and helpful, everything was clean and functional, and you CANNOT beat the natural beauty a short distance away. Yosemite is a national treasure for good reason. :)

Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see.
Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see. We stayed there to visit Yosemite. But Mariposa has no mobile coverage, Had we known that beforehand, we'd have stayed in Yosemite village, inside the park, which has good mobile coverage.

Great little town, very hot in the summer.
Great little town, very hot in the summer. Near the Yosemite Park entrance that is closest to Yosemite Valley. It is historic with several nice shops and restaurants. Check out The Grove House for a great selection of Micro Brews and great food. Excellent mixed drinks and live music as well! Stay here if you don't want to spend over $400.00 a night!

1850 Restaurant was outstanding for lunch.
1850 Restaurant was outstanding for lunch. My wife and I shared a meal of beef tips that was delicious.
I sampled the beer flight (brewed on site). Great selection and quality.
Shalby provided excellent, prompt, and friendly service.
My wife and I highly recommend 1850 Restaurant in Mariposa.
Yosemite Gifts is a beautiful shop with a wonderful owner-Shannon.
Shannon is helpful, friendly, and professional.
We bought a few souvenirs.
Yosemite Gifts is a pleasant shop to stroll around and make your purchases.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, towels and bed linens were a good quality. The room was large and had a balcony. I appreciate that it had a 4 cup coffee maker, a fridge and a microwave. The location was excellent to walk to all the stores and restaurants in in Mariposa and was about a 1 hour drive to Yosemite National Park. (Longer if there was traffic...go early on a weekend) The hotel was VERY quiet. I couldn't hear any of my neighbors even though it was full every night. The pool area was clean. The air conditioner worked well.
Decided to stay at this hotel during a trip to Yosemite. It is about a hour away from Yosemite Valley. Enjoyed staying in Mariposa at this hotel! The hotel is a two minute walk from the "The Alley", a place to grab some craft beers at night. It is also within a 5 minute walk for some really good breakfast, such as Sugar Pine Cafe. Mariposa is a nice little wholesome town to stroll around in. There are several shops within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel was very clean, and the owners are very accommodating to any needs.
It’s pleasant. Located in the centre of Mariposa.
Breakfast included in the price, with the basics (waffles, yogurt, meat patties, bread and oats).
The room is big and basic clean. Bathroom good as well (shower could be higher tho, still can’t get over how low the shower head is)
For the price you pay in US for hotels is good, and one hour away from Yosemite Valley which is convenient.
Great hotel in Mariposa, CA! Adequate parking at the back parking lot, (it's right on Hwy 140). I was visiting Yosemite, it's a 24 mile drive to the park entrance. I planned to be up early, so entrance waits were minimum. Grabbed a quick breakfast @ hotel before heading out. Simple breakfast but satisfying, bottles of water available, (nice touch!). All good!
If you want to be spoiled every morning near Yosemite with a top breakfast and a hospitable person who tells you all the do's and don'ts about the area and Yosemite in particular, then this is the place to be. Within the shortest time you are part
of Ruth's family. Wonderful person who runs a top B&B in the middle of nature
We had an AMAZING stay. The house was even better than we thought when we booked it. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was hot! It's really close to Yosemite National Park and has lots of dinner options in the area. There was also a grocery store nearby with all the stuff you need to make some nice meals.
Cover and bathroom are old fashioned but don't look at it. People are very nice, rooms are big, quiet and well-furnished with fridge and micro-wave. On top of that breakfast is included. A bit far from the park entry but maybe the biggest town nearby.
This place is a real gem, close to town center, there is a nearby market and a gas station.
If you are traveling to Yosemite N.P. or Kings Canyon N.p. and looking for clean and comfy rooms with helpful front desk. This is the place.
Location is perfect to visit Yosemite valley and Mariposa Grove. Very quiet location with great facilities. The lodges have a lovely mountain feel and Christine, the host was lovely and very accommodating. We had a fab stay!
This place is gorgeous. It’s not the nearest stay to Yosemite but its quality more than made up for it - a few days in the house would make good enough a vacation with your family/partner, with or without the national park.
We booked the Yosemite Inn last minute because our other hotel got evacuated because of the Oak Fire (July 2022). The receptionist was very friendly and kind. The room was big and comfortable. Everything was perfect.
The location was perfect for Yosemite and Mariposa is a very cute little town.
Although you can see the hotel is maybe a little older, the cleanliness and staff and everything make up for that!
Good base for visiting Yosemite which is about 1 hr drive to the park with restaurants nearby. The room was a good size with a microwave and fridge which was handy
Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean rooms. I’ve stayed at a few other motels/hotels in Mariposa before, but BW is by far better than the local hotels/motels.
