Mariposa is a nice country town with good range of shops, services and food options for its size (including a supermarket), even in our early spring visiting time. This is due to its proximity to Yosemite NP about 70km away (our reason for visiting). If using the YARTs bus service to access the park its a great base.

Mariposa is about as close you can get to Yosemite without staying in the park, but it's still an hour drive from the valley. This is fine if you're visiting the park for 1 or 2 days, but after 2 days, you'll definitely have had enough of the driving. The town itself is very cute and has tons of nice places to eat. There is also a very large supermarket.

The Day and Night Staff were very kind and helpful, everything was clean and functional, and you CANNOT beat the natural beauty a short distance away. Yosemite is a national treasure for good reason. :)

Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see.
Mariposa is a small town, nothing much to see. We stayed there to visit Yosemite. But Mariposa has no mobile coverage, Had we known that beforehand, we'd have stayed in Yosemite village, inside the park, which has good mobile coverage.

Great little town, very hot in the summer.
Great little town, very hot in the summer. Near the Yosemite Park entrance that is closest to Yosemite Valley. It is historic with several nice shops and restaurants. Check out The Grove House for a great selection of Micro Brews and great food. Excellent mixed drinks and live music as well! Stay here if you don't want to spend over $400.00 a night!

1850 Restaurant was outstanding for lunch.
1850 Restaurant was outstanding for lunch. My wife and I shared a meal of beef tips that was delicious.
I sampled the beer flight (brewed on site). Great selection and quality.
Shalby provided excellent, prompt, and friendly service.
My wife and I highly recommend 1850 Restaurant in Mariposa.
Yosemite Gifts is a beautiful shop with a wonderful owner-Shannon.
Shannon is helpful, friendly, and professional.
We bought a few souvenirs.
Yosemite Gifts is a pleasant shop to stroll around and make your purchases.
Beautiful setting on top of a hill. Hummingbirds, wild turkeys and deer were part of the fauna. The hosts were welcoming and very accommodating. They provided good directions to Yosemite and suggestions to places to eat in town. Full breakfast was served in an elegant table setting. Egg dishes, sausages, breads, juices, fresh fruits and coffee. Wonderful to start the day with energy to hike. The room and bed were very clean and comfortable. Not far from Mariposa town center. Highly recommend.
This house is amazing. I was blown away and wished I could have stayed longer. Beautiful views, big terrace, all rooms are comfortable and well furnished. Downstairs playground area is awesome for bigger groups. Host is very responsive. We arrived an hour or so earlier and they helped us with the keys. It is also quite close to Yosemite valley by car but also there are dinning options nearby as well as big grocery store. and there is enough space to park few cars. I can only recommend!!
Mary is an incredible host and inn-keeper. My wife and I made a last minute getaway for a mini-honeymoon and Mary was kind enough to place us in a honeymoon suite with a ton of charm and character. Friday night was a little loud outside of the hotel, but we had no difficulty drowning out the sound with the well-functioning AC. Otherwise, there is a very cute deck for your morning coffee/fruit/pastry and you couldn't be better situated in downtown Mariposa.
Location was close to Yosemite. I liked that it was close to the restaurants/bars/breweries of downtown Mariposa. The front desk person was very friendly and super helpful and accommodating. Despite being busy due to many people arriving around the same time as me and my wife, she made sure to make us feel like we were tended to and for us to feel comfortable enough to reach out if there's anything we needed.
Room is big enough. Interior is good for this type of hotels. Was clean in general. Stuff is nice. I had two rooms and they accommodated us near one by one. Breakfast not huge, but you can find eggs, small meat like burgers, bread, yogurt, some sweets, waffles and drinks. Not a huge price for busy weekend. Would stay again.
Super lovely host Christine who had very helpful recommendations and information material for us! Good starting point for Yosemite National Park. Breakfast included (also for taking to the park). Shopping facilities nearby. Family owned small business. We felt very welcome.
Literally everything, this was the coziest and most equipped cottage I’ve ever been to. Leave the windows or doors slightly open and you could enjoy falling asleep and waking up to light therapeutic stream sounds from a small creek nearby.
This place is gorgeous. It’s not the nearest stay to Yosemite but its quality more than made up for it - a few days in the house would make good enough a vacation with your family/partner, with or without the national park.
Wonderful position not far from Yosemite Park. Comfortable hotel, room generous, clean and tidy. Good pool, nice breakfast and easy parking. Very close to the town with lots of choices of restaurants and bars.
great location near to Yosemite park. lovely little town with a real buzz and some good places to eat. friendly welcome from the staff and good size room. excellent power shower with hot water.
yes it was near to Mariposa and just adjacent to a gas station. property is large with a restaurant in the same area with lots of parking . complimentary breakfast was really good.
