There was a holiday going while I visited Miskolc sothe shops etc were mostly closed. A nice enough toinen to voisit though it seemed a bit quiet one. It was a bit difficult to find the center of the tien when I started from the train station In bus station the system was confusibg. We were puzzled with the city: it has a long history, but its landscape is dominated by the industry. There is a medieval castle, but it was closed at the time of our visit due to …. reconstruction! I really don’t want to see it after it is done, a very peculiar approach to historical monuments. On the other hand, we enjoyed a visit at Avas tower offering a nice view of the city plus a good coffee and drink bar. We skipped the local museum and went to Bukki National Park, which was a wonderful experience.SławomirPoland - 10Scored 10

Surprisingly great city, pleasant city center and surroundings, starting point for trips to the Beech Mountains, beautiful waterfalls and caves in Lillafüred, an excellent cave spa in Miskolc-Tapolca. Within driving distance of Tokaj, Eger and more.

I stopped in this quiet town a night rather than arrive in Budapest late evening. (travelling from Slovakia by train). Miskolc is nice town with the castle, big market place and cave spa. There are for sure many others niceplaces, but we did not have enough time to get there. We plan to come back and dicover more interesting places.

There are lots of gypsies on the way to see and the road is very bad. People there are very poor.. if you want to go to the thermal bad, it is better to book a wellness hotel with all inclusive than to stay somewhere else..

Conveniently located quite close to the tram line (which takes you anywhere you need to go in Miskolc:-) and one has a variety of supermarkets right next door. The apartment has an equipped kitchen where one can make breakfast or dinner without any issues whatsoever. Super kind and helpful hosts too, the check-in/check-out process was flawless. I would most certainly recommend this apartment, we felt great being there!

We really appreciated the charmy flair of Miskolc on Friday and Saturday which was surrounded by hungarian music and the traditional food (tasty). You have a huge supermarkt just in front of the building and if you choose to go to the famous Cave Bath of Miskolctapolca (passing the Univ. of Miskolc) you just need to pick the bus 20 (2 min. walk to the bus stop). We had a great stay and hope to be back again!
