My favorite was hiking around with my dog, we mostly went to Strednica. The restaurants are good (my favorite was Zdiaranka and Stone Art Gallery café to enjoy the view and have good coffee or a glass of wine), there are several shops to buy food as well. I visited the local museum. I recommend going to Tree Top Walk in Bachledova Dolina, very interesting place.

Zdiar is a beautiful town, perfect for skiing, hiking and relaxing! It has everything you need, the people are very friendly and helpful although it would be a good idea to learn some basic Slovak just to get you by. Waking up in the high tatras mountains in a sight to behold! Numerous restaurants line the main street and there is an amazing pizza restaurant that sells great drinks too, looks like a museum inside wall to wall with Slovakia history gathered by the owner it is called Pizzeria Rustika. I would highly recommend a visit.

The destination offers interesting possibilities, it is right in the High Tatras, so you can go anywhere. Especially in Ždiar, however, the great attraction is the cable car above Bachledova dolina and the Walk in the Treetops and an all-day experience. Also, the location is beautiful just for ordinary light hiking - walking around the site without the need for a long hike.

Ždiar is mostly known for skiing in winter.
Ždiar is mostly known for skiing in winter. I was there in summer so the best attraction is Walking path high in the trees (chodník korunami stromov) - very nice and romantic walk in nature.
Other than that there is nothing much, but you have other cities nearby like Tatranská Lomnica where you have plenty of good restaurants and small attractions.
Close you have Belian cave which is a popular tourist place.

Lovely village built for the ski and hiking seasons.
Lovely village built for the ski and hiking seasons. Pretty small but close to the main places worth a visit. We were at the Lomnicky stit, the Morskie Oko and Bachledka. We would loved to stay longer!!
Everything! This place feels like home yet is very well runned. They have everything you need in order to have a perfect stay. And the spa facilities are beyond great. Special thank you to the masseuse who organised an essential oil ceremony with music right inside of their amazing finish sauna. It was just wow!
Also we loved our nanny Dasha and the kids club and we’re able to decompress since the kids were occupied all the time.
Extra bonus - an amazing hiking area and the ski lift that takes you to tons of activities up the mountain
The location is breath-taking, very beautiful part of Tatras. The owner enabled us to check-in early and upgraded our room when they found we´re travelling with a small child, so that we could have separate bathroom. We have ordered breakfast and were impressed by the creativity and amount of food we received - our child is a picky eater, but always ended up full of yummies. There is also closed garden with playground where we could leave the little one playing and drink coffee in the meanwhile.
I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel with my family! The kitchen exceeded our expectations with its delectable culinary offerings. Additionally, the wellness facilities were a true highlight of our trip. The combination of the exceptional kitchen and the relaxing wellness amenities made our stay truly memorable. Service of the hotel staff was also above expectations especially in restaurant. We can't wait to return!
Very calm, surounded by nature place with a mountain view, lots of green space (especially for dog), we used to drink morning coffee and enjoy mountain view. Hiking paths goes just near the house. Authentic family house with a very honest, friendly host. It feels like home...I would like to come back here...
Like at home. Maxi respect to the owner and His Team for the design, for the clean rooms, pretty garden. We felt like at home. The restaurants and a super little shop are 2-4 minutes walk with kids, forest, farm with cheese, many options to explore Tatra are near by car. I hope we'll return. Ty!
Staff were very nice and helpful. I left some stuff a few days before my check-in so I would not carry them around while trekking and there was no problem with that.
The room was clean and comfortable, showers and toilets seemed very new and shiny. The hotel restaurant was very good.
The place has everything one can need, Ždiar and its surroundings are beautiful and the host was truly amazing. On the last day of our stay not only did he let us leave our luggages after the check-out but also took great care about us when we got caught in the rain later on.
Breakfast was really good, the location is ideal very close to to the ski resort ,close to the village where all restaurants are at. Host was very friendly. Rooms are clean and cozy with new bathrooms and a big shower. Price for the accommodation was exceptional !
Definitely, we liked attitude from owners- they where ready to extend our stay for a day and even to invite for a glass of TatraTea after long hiking day in mountains! Thank you for that! 😊
Breakfasts were FANTASTIC- every day something special!
The pension is close to the town entrance and has a lovely view of the High Tatras. The place was cozy, the rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was amazing (self-service). There was also a shared kitchenette with some utensils.
