The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.

If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be.
If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be. There is skiing in winter, but we were there in summer and loved it. Be prepared for the language barrier: English is not much understood, probably better if you speak German. Luckily staff at the cableways and important tourist sites do speak English.

Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky...
Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky peaks and glacial lakes, breathtaking alpine-style landscapes, however also the most touristy region. After a windstorm of 2004 hesitantly transitioning from spruce plantation (that the locals are used to for a century) to the real mixed resilient forest. A perceptible tug-o-war between developers (skiing facilities, sterile grey hotels) and those wishing to preserve the original wilderness for less-heavy sort of tourism.
Nice wooden chalets, although often with socialist era habits and attitudes of the staff. Quite lacking in cozy individual huts. Slightly underwhelming transport (too infrequent) and missing more historical vehicles (trams, trains, ...). All a bit utilitarian and sterile, without added charm. Particularly a lack of non-template cafes with some charm is astonishing.
Sometimes absurdly high prices for the accommodation and food, inadequate to the generally lacking I-can-help-you-with-that-attitude among locals, sour faces and snapping. I appreciate that many facilities have started making their own food (not just microwaving pre-made industrial meals, the nemesis of Slovak tourism), even if the choice is often too much meat/flour/potatoes (i.e. Slovak taste) which may be difficult for many western visitors. It got better, with quite some way to improve - if there was a will for it.
I recommend all the nature hikes, particularly to the higher altitudes, peaks, tarns. Tasting different chalet teas. Visiting Podbanske spa, or Hotel Atrium spa. The Poprad & Besenova spas are overcrowded with local and Polish families with children. Slovakia unfortunately does not have proper sauna/spa culture in blood, these are often just mechanical imitations of western facilities.

Really nice mountains with great access by train, everything is in relatively short distance. Really nice small villages such as Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica. Easy hikes with kids on Strbske Pleso, Popradske pleso and Hrebienok and other beautiful places such as Zelene pleso, Skalnate pleso etc.
Anna very friendly and helped us with deciding the best walk to the waterfalls
Position is near tram stop
4 euros for all day ticket
We went to poradskie pleso and the long water falls great walks
We had the two bed apartment
Very clean , comfortable and lots of space
Having the apartment meant we could do our own breakfast etc
Stary is 20min walk or 3 mins on tram
Apartment is set in parkland , very scenic
All in all great place to stay
Highly recommended
Lovely staff, very well equiped and modern rooms in apartment style. Small kitchen, balcony and fireplace are massive bonus. Me and my partner slept on sofa bed and it was very comfy. Breakfast was really good and some slovak classics like Krupica (semolina porridge with chocolate powder) really made my day. We had a lovely short stay at this hotel and would definitely come back! :)
The hotel is ideal for an affordable hiking holiday. It is located near a train station and bus stop within walking distance of the main hub of Stary Smokovec. You can start off any walks with the extensive breakfast offered. Moreover, (manager? Owner?) Mr. Janko is very nice and was extremely helpful in resolving any issues I encountered.
The apartment is in the heart of Tatranska Lomnica, super close to the ski lifts and to the restaurants, but in a quiet part of the town. The apartment is cozy, spacious and well equipped. Only the two of us stayed there but the medium sized room can accommodate a family. The host was very nice and flexible and it was easy to reach her.
Very willing personnel. When you need something, they always react fast. I forgot there a T-shirt and they sent to me home for free:-) Apart from that accommodation is clean, nice, well-located just a few min to trails and Vysoke Tatry center with many restaurants. Recommend to stay!!
- staff was trying to be helpful and friendly although not having very good communication skills or knowing the language
- saunas are definitely worth a visit
- the food is generally delicious and you have many options for breakfast
Location, location, location. Staff were friendly. My room had a great lake view and the balcony was something I did not expect. Although the hotel was basic, the location and view more than compensated.
Everything! 🥰 Very incredible with all facilities hotel and the most attractive and comfortable location. We liked totally everything, despite a few little things (but they don't change our opnion)

Breakfast and dinner were excellent, we would like to thank chef Mr. Peter Vanko who prepares delicious menu. Hotel has very good location, nice wellness, modern facilities and lots of parking space.
The location is nice, even though it was not in the center of Smokovec. The hotel offers good meals, wellness and other services, the staff is nice and helpful.
Great location, close to the train line and with beautiful views of the mountains. The apartment was well equipped and spacious. I’d love to come there again!
