The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.

If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be.
If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be. There is skiing in winter, but we were there in summer and loved it. Be prepared for the language barrier: English is not much understood, probably better if you speak German. Luckily staff at the cableways and important tourist sites do speak English.

Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky...
Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky peaks and glacial lakes, breathtaking alpine-style landscapes, however also the most touristy region. After a windstorm of 2004 hesitantly transitioning from spruce plantation (that the locals are used to for a century) to the real mixed resilient forest. A perceptible tug-o-war between developers (skiing facilities, sterile grey hotels) and those wishing to preserve the original wilderness for less-heavy sort of tourism.
Nice wooden chalets, although often with socialist era habits and attitudes of the staff. Quite lacking in cozy individual huts. Slightly underwhelming transport (too infrequent) and missing more historical vehicles (trams, trains, ...). All a bit utilitarian and sterile, without added charm. Particularly a lack of non-template cafes with some charm is astonishing.
Sometimes absurdly high prices for the accommodation and food, inadequate to the generally lacking I-can-help-you-with-that-attitude among locals, sour faces and snapping. I appreciate that many facilities have started making their own food (not just microwaving pre-made industrial meals, the nemesis of Slovak tourism), even if the choice is often too much meat/flour/potatoes (i.e. Slovak taste) which may be difficult for many western visitors. It got better, with quite some way to improve - if there was a will for it.
I recommend all the nature hikes, particularly to the higher altitudes, peaks, tarns. Tasting different chalet teas. Visiting Podbanske spa, or Hotel Atrium spa. The Poprad & Besenova spas are overcrowded with local and Polish families with children. Slovakia unfortunately does not have proper sauna/spa culture in blood, these are often just mechanical imitations of western facilities.

Really nice mountains with great access by train, everything...
Really nice mountains with great access by train, everything is in relatively short distance. Really nice small villages such as Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica. Easy hikes with kids on Strbske Pleso, Popradske pleso and Hrebienok and other beautiful places such as Zelene pleso, Skalnate pleso etc.
The property has a mediterranean ambiente, big enough to sleep 7 persons, is one is willing to be accomodated in the lounge.
The kitchen is very well equipped (for 6 persons, though) and is spaceous, the three bedrooms are all great.
In this apartment you are on your own, you will buy your breakfast in the nearby towns, e.g. Strbske Pleso or Stary Smokovec.
You can drive or take the tram, it has a stop a few minutes away.
This was our second summer to stay in this very property, and there is no reason why we would change.
Beautiful little hotel. Great view from the window towards the mountains. Shared balcony too. Had kitchen facilities (microwave, kettle, gas stove, and all crockery and pans needed) which was a pleasant surprise (though the local supermarkets don't really have much to actually make a meal). The room was comfortable and the shower was very powerful. The person working there was friendly and welcoming. Great value for money all round
Good comfortable beds (mattress is rather hard). Well equipped kitchen (for a studio type room). Room service is limited (replenish toiletries and remove garbage daily), but it's ok. Location is a bit on a side of the village - no problem if you want a quiet stay. Dedicated car parking place.
Shortcut footpath to Stary Smokovec available bypassing Grand Hotel side.
Excellent value for the money.
Lovely staff, very well equiped and modern rooms in apartment style. Small kitchen, balcony and fireplace are massive bonus. Me and my partner slept on sofa bed and it was very comfy. Breakfast was really good and some slovak classics like Krupica (semolina porridge with chocolate powder) really made my day. We had a lovely short stay at this hotel and would definitely come back! :)
The best location ,near herinbok.
The room was excellent, great facilities, big bathroom, realy clean, great cushions and mattress,
The staff was so so nice, helpful, took care for every requst we had, they advised us on day trips, with so much kindness.
The brekfast was perfect! Take it.
They have coffe and tea free all day.
Realy the best hotel in slovakia.
It is our 3rd time we stayed in this hotel - we loved the apartment in the main building - we had a room overlooking the mountains and it was great to sit on the balcony during the evenings. Love the sound of the river stream passing below. The apartment is spacious and offered great comfort during our stay.
This is a really special hotel in an amazing location. There are lots of good walks that can be done from the hotel, and the walk by the waterfall is particularly stunning. Breakfast and dinner were consistently really good, and the hour in the wellness centre was very much appreciated after a day of hiking.
A classy, glamourous, beautiful hotel within walking distance to Tatranska Lomnica and walking trails. The breakfast and dinner buffets were outstanding. Staff was friendly, professional and eager to please. I especially enjoyed the heated outdoor pool after a long day on the trails.
Everything was nice, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel! it has a super location in the surrounding of the forest, very quiet and peaceful place, the pleasant home atmosphere and comfort. The room was nice, the breakfast was very good. The host is very gentle and attentive
Convenient parking spot with ample room and spacious spots.
Great location near the funicular and many great restaurants.
Extremely friendly and accommodating staff. Even though not everyone is fluent in English, they try their best.
Great location, impressive shape of the hotel. Very nice lobby area and excellent SPA area. Rooms are okay, a little aged, but overall no complains. The bed and pillows have been very comfortable. Also positive, free parking.
The interior of the hotel and our room were very cozy and comfy. We loved the spacious bathroom and shower. The receptionists were supernice :) The breakfast was tasty and quite rich. If only we could have stayed longer :)
Well equipped apartment with very spacious bedrooms and highly comfortable beds, bathroom separate from the toilet, highly attentive host Martin who was in frequent communication with me before and during our stay
This is a nice hotel, and the location is very good. Close to the train station and not too long of a walk to the cable cars. The employees were friendly, and the room looks very nice.
