The place is just beautifull, mountains are greal I love it in different time of the year. Transport is great however if you are paying for cable cars it can get expensive but simillary you will pay the price in different countries. If skying it is worth booking the passes in advance as it saves a lot of money.

My 3rd time in High Tatra' and decided to stay for a month this time and loving it! Too many peeks to climb 😉. Very well marked trails with beautiful nature. Plenty of high peeks to climb although for some certified guide is required. And don't be fooled that the highest peeks are not as high as in the alps...it is very hard work and training is required to be able to climb them. Definitely a contender to Alps

Beautiful area especially in early June (15-30) when it's not overrun by tourists. Great for families and larger groups with many activities for each generation. Recommended visits: spa treatment at the Grand Hotels at Kempinski, Grand Hotel, and Hotel Lominca; hiking or taking a cable car to the 'plesa'--mountain lakes.

If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be.
If you are into challenging hiking this is the place to be. There is skiing in winter, but we were there in summer and loved it. Be prepared for the language barrier: English is not much understood, probably better if you speak German. Luckily staff at the cableways and important tourist sites do speak English.

Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky...
Most stunning mountain range of the country, with rocky peaks and glacial lakes, breathtaking alpine-style landscapes, however also the most touristy region. After a windstorm of 2004 hesitantly transitioning from spruce plantation (that the locals are used to for a century) to the real mixed resilient forest. A perceptible tug-o-war between developers (skiing facilities, sterile grey hotels) and those wishing to preserve the original wilderness for less-heavy sort of tourism.
Nice wooden chalets, although often with socialist era habits and attitudes of the staff. Quite lacking in cozy individual huts. Slightly underwhelming transport (too infrequent) and missing more historical vehicles (trams, trains, ...). All a bit utilitarian and sterile, without added charm. Particularly a lack of non-template cafes with some charm is astonishing.
Sometimes absurdly high prices for the accommodation and food, inadequate to the generally lacking I-can-help-you-with-that-attitude among locals, sour faces and snapping. I appreciate that many facilities have started making their own food (not just microwaving pre-made industrial meals, the nemesis of Slovak tourism), even if the choice is often too much meat/flour/potatoes (i.e. Slovak taste) which may be difficult for many western visitors. It got better, with quite some way to improve - if there was a will for it.
I recommend all the nature hikes, particularly to the higher altitudes, peaks, tarns. Tasting different chalet teas. Visiting Podbanske spa, or Hotel Atrium spa. The Poprad & Besenova spas are overcrowded with local and Polish families with children. Slovakia unfortunately does not have proper sauna/spa culture in blood, these are often just mechanical imitations of western facilities.

Really nice mountains with great access by train, everything is in relatively short distance. Really nice small villages such as Stary Smokovec, Tatranska Lomnica. Easy hikes with kids on Strbske Pleso, Popradske pleso and Hrebienok and other beautiful places such as Zelene pleso, Skalnate pleso etc.
A very cosy very warm apartment. Fully equipped kitchen, lots of various little handy things like candles and cold accumulator. Apartment is not small, there is enough space. Parking space is just out of the door. Very warm. A very pleasant host. Lots of handy hooks to hang all your clothes. A large radiator to dry all your ski gear. A radiator near the entrance to dry the boots. The bathroom is small but it's fine, the shower does not spill water.
Amazing location next to small lake
Plenty of eating options - buffet (reception floor), grilled or BBQ food (floor below, next to bowling and pool tables, good for kids) and Kaliba restaurant (300m away for good traditional food and beer).
Wellness areas (no time to make this with walking)
Private parking - bit busy but ok
Balcony view amazing
Hotel keeps its own beehives (sustainable honey and happy bees)
Close to town centre
this is the most beautiful place we have been so far. the hotel is located on a beautiful peaceful lake there are many trails going from the hotel. there is a wonderful terrace and dining room. the room are very comfortable and the staff is very helpful. we had a great great stay. wonderful location a facility! very recommended! take the shuttle on the way there it’s 10 euro per person. and walk on the way back.
We really loved our stay at Hotel Hills. The wellness area (especially the outdoor hot tub) was magnificent, especially after a long hike in the mountains. Both dinner and breakfast were great. The room was new and clean, the bed was super comfortable. I have nothing bad to say - one of my favourite hotels ever. Will hopefully be visiting again!
Very nice hotel, esp. the location. Great food & service. Small wellness, nothing special, but nice after long hike. Convenient pick-up service (we left our car at the bottom parking lot), and hotel will bring you up and down on demand. As a package overall - definitely worth visiting, the location is unforgettable.
Pretty nice, warm place with clean room/bathroom in room (towels included). Free for all dining room with tea, coffee, juice, flakes and even milk. Fast wifi included. About 100m from nearest train station and about 1km from main train/bus station.
Reception friendly and eager to let you know about the hotel.
Location on walking distance of center village no need to use car for going hiking, train gets you easy to all nice places. Apartment was well equipped, clean and spacious for 2. Wellness and sauna good but if you book to early (1700) then it is 60C.
Everything was just perfect. The hotel location, the room, the breakfast, the wellness area with swimming pool, jacuzzi, and lot of sauna. The wellness area is huge, clean and exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to get back🙂
Building has fantastic location in Štrbské Pleso. Easy location. Plenty of parking. One bedroom with bed for 2, two single beds in main room, two couches that could even sleep some more. Clean and all basic amenities provided.
The room is very confortable and the owner was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast is good and at a fair price. The localisation of the hotel is perfect for hikking.
I’d definitely recommend :)
The hotel has a wonderful location with an exceptional restaurant experience. The sommelier as well as the staff are wonderful. We highly recommend dining at the hotel, especially for breakfast.
Contains everything you really need: a comfortable bed, a decent bathroom, a well equipped kitchen. Sufficient storage space for your stuff. Not far from the train station. Convenient price.
The location is nice, even though it was not in the center of Smokovec. The hotel offers good meals, wellness and other services, the staff is nice and helpful.
