This is the kind of place to stay if you come for scenery and happy to make your own plans. The scenery is exceptional. You can walk/hike; climb; paddle board, take a scenic train ride, visit ice cave without needing a car really. If you need a bigger shop or fuel for the car you do need to get out of the village though (and fuel was up and down a hill in the next valley so you’d better plan that well)

I stayed with my two daughters for 5 days. were super happy! great place, great house! sauna and jacuzzi did not use, as there was no desire:) everything else is super! True, it would be possible to add a little spices and oil to the houses ...

A great little village with a relatively large lake.

A great little village with a relatively large lake. A little crowded due to its popularity. Most things are near the church. We have only been to one restaurant, Pizza & Café Lumaro, where we had the most amazing pizzas for fantastic prices. The tapped Bakalař beer was also great, but with a metallic aftertaste for some reason. There is a little convenience store that also works as a pub – this is where you can do your shopping (this is an old-school shop where you ask for each item separately) and have a Kofola or beer after. The biggest problem here is getting around without a car. We came by train mainly to hike in the area. Most popular hikes in the Slovak paradise can be started from Podlesok, south of Hrabušice. Getting there from Dedinky was no easy task. The only direct bus went at around 14:00 on weekdays (useless for hikers) and perhaps one more later in the evening. The only way we could get to Podlesok was to take a bus that came at 5:31 in the morning and went to Spišská Nova Ves, where we changed to a train that took us to Vydrnik and then to another bus that went to Hrabušice. From there, we still had to walk for half an hour to get to Podlesok. This whole journey took like 2 and a half hours each day. Alternatively, you could get to Podlesok by a car in probably under 40-50 minutes. So I recommend not relying on flexible transport in the area without a car!

    Nice village, train access.

Nice village, train access. Food not great, not too many options and it is very busy during weekends. Lake is amazing and clean. I definitely recommend to hire a boat or bicycle to go round the lake it is lovely and not too expensive.

A very clean and friendly village.

A very clean and friendly village. The Pizzeria/Bar was great for hand-made Pizzas and relaxing with a local beer. The village is very close to the forest/National Park for some good walks and the local bus service is frequent. Swimming/boating on the lake is pleasant. The Ice Cave at Dobsina was interesting, also the Spis Castle and Levoca historic town.
