Bansko is at the edge of the Pirin mountain range which is beautiful. There is access to winter sports in the winter, and mountain biking/hiking/mountaineering in the summer. There are hikes and trails for all levels and I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in outdoors to go there.

Bansko is a good alternative for skiing when you cannot afford to go in the Alps .
Very good options for accommodation and for eating out in local restaurants.
You need to know that the ques for gondola in the morning can get pretty long and well exceed one hour wait.

Bansko is so walkable!
Bansko is so walkable! You can rent gear ahead of time and pick it up and drop it off at the shop near the gondola. The Old Town is quaint, food is marvelous. Taxis to to the nearby villages for horseback riding and baths.

Bansko is a city that captures the heart with its stunning...
Bansko is a city that captures the heart with its stunning beauty, effortlessly blending picturesque landscapes with the quaint charm of its streets. However, visitors should be wary of the numerous tourist traps that dot the city, often overshadowing its genuine offerings. Despite this, with a bit of diligence and local insight, one can uncover hidden gems like the small family-run 'mexana' we were fortunate to find. Serving homemade food with warmth and authenticity, it stood out as a beacon of traditional hospitality amidst a sea of commercialized eateries.
On the flip side, the popularity of Bansko's ski slopes comes with its own set of challenges, notably the excessive queues for the gondola lift, which can significantly dampen the skiing experience. Opting for a bus ride to the slopes proved to be a wise decision, bypassing the long wait and leading us directly to the well-maintained pistes. While Bansko offers much in terms of scenic beauty and skiing opportunities, visitors must navigate its less appealing aspects to fully enjoy what this charming city has to offer.

We didn`t know Bansko was so popular with the British 19/ 30 groups so when we arrived (09.00 o`clock in the eving we were shocked by noise and amount of drunken people in the streets and bars. I is like Benidorm in Spain. Bansko is to big for her wintersport facilities so the skilifts were totally overrrun and the lower pistes were way to busy. Up 3 hours waiting time on some days on the gondola. Prices for ski passes, equipment rental etc are really ok . Altough the pistes are nice they were way to busy. Food in restaurants and drinks are way overpriced.
Location, the double bedroom apartment was very comfortable, great view to the mountains, very helpful and attentive staff! Plenty of necessary amenities around the hotel, like a food and drink shop, ski rental, restaurant, and a short proximity to the ski lift! Pet friendly hotel, which was important since we took our small dog with us for Christmas. The breakfast is plentiful with food for different tastes. Beds, pillows, linen TOP, making your sleep extremely pleasant.
Visiting Pirin River was like coming to visit friends. The staff can't do enough for you, always friendly and happy to go over and above to help you. We booked lessons with Kalo and we would highly recommend you use the instructors in the hotel, he was very patient and kind. The breakfast was amazing, the room very clean and the spa and swimming pool ideal after a long day skiing. Katarina and Yaro, thank you for everything, we can't wait to visit again next year!
Apartment is well equipped. We were happy to have 2 separate bathrooms and a toilet, perfect for when the family comes back from hiking and wants to fresh up. Breakfast was included and dinner reasonably priced. It was all delivered to the room, the restaurant was closed because of Covid regulations. Ski lift is close, a 5 minute drive down the road. Daily shuttle busses to the lift. Hiking paths start right next to the hotel.
The hotel is close to gondola, ski rental shops, restaurants (5-10 minutes walk).
- The apartment was very big, with one separate bedroom and one living room with kitchen.
- The room was clean.
- Plenty of space in the room.
- Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for eating in the room.
- Pool and saunas are free of charge.
- Breakfast very good, plenty of types of food to choose from and different every day.
This apartment is located within a hotel. Its location is the best for skiing ( proximity to the gondola). The apartment was very comfortable and the television was beyond our expectations. We could access Eurosport ( Australia Tennis Open) and Netflix.. in prior visits to other places in Bansko, we had very little TV in English. The Morris Bar at the front of the hotel is a very welcoming place, at any time of the day.
Our stay at Mura Hotel in Bansko was amazing! The Jacuzzi and Ski in and out room added an extra layer of luxury to our experience. The value for money exceeded our expectations, making it a perfect choice for a ski group from Kosova 🇽🇰. The staff's hospitality and the overall ambiance made our stay truly memorable. Highly recommend for an unforgettable ski time⛷️🚠.
Exceptionally clean, super friendly and helpful staff. We have been several years in a raw in this hotel for the winter holidays and it’s getting even better. We love the kids club and use it all the time.
Shuttle to the gondola and even to the ski slops in the morning. Great pool and spa procedures.
Rooms are spacious snd comfortable, amazing cleaning service.
The hotel Casa Karina was close to the lifts and has a great swimming pool and offers excellent massages in the spa. With many properties in Bansko, it can be difficult to choose, but you can't go wrong here considering the rates and proximity to the mountain. Friendly staff who did their best during this awkward Covid ski season.
Staff is fantastic! Probably the best I've met in Bulgaria. Everyone is extremely kind and doing there best for you to feel well!
SPA Area is also very nice, pools are clean and you have very nice breakfast available in the morning. We are going to Lucky on a regular base, therefore it's one of our favorite hotels in Bulgaria.
We visit Bansko every year. The man at the reception was the most kind and helpfull man we have met in Bulgaria after so many years! The room was clean and warm, the hotel was the best choice for this amount of euros per night. Highly recommend because we NEVER like hotels in Bansko and this one was the best choice.
The breakfast was very nice. Big selection of food and beverages. The spa was beautiful with pool, three types of sauna and a hamam. However, it was a bit crowded at the evening hours. The hotel is near the ski area and 18 min walking from the old town center. Great value for money. I highly recommend it.
Best part of the hotel is how close it is to the Gondola. You can walk in your ski boots (4 minutes)
Room is normal, pretty big but really old furniture. nice that it has a bathtub. Nice view from the window. It had a balcony also.
This time nothing at the hotel! Hypocritically polite staff when you pay the bill but totally absent when you need their help or a problem occurs. I guess they are simply understaffed but still pretend to be a 4 star resort.
Staff is very helpful, the apartment is spacious and clean and it has electric heating. Breakfast and dinner are tasty. Outside the hotel they have a room where you could keep the ski equipment. Good spa facilities.
Good breakfast, big and clean rooms, nice and helpful staff, ski-shuttle was a very nice deal, for the gondola and for the mountain also, a nice experience overall. cozy lounge, good services at the hotel bar.
large room, lovely reception staff and ski hire services
Breakfast was nice, hot and cold, pastries etc
Clean room, and the hotel offers special extras for a birthday (cake, flowers, champagne)
The room was very nice, the bathroom was clean and working perfectly (first hotel in Bulgaria we found with a good bathroom!). Nice view and little balcony. The use of the spa was great as well.
The property was clean and very good-looking. The rooms were spacious. The food was the best we’ve ever had in a Bulgarian hotel. The SPA facilities were clean. The staff was nice and friendly.
It was a great stay. Clean and well equipped hotel with proper spa and ski room. The staff was exquisite - especially Maya and Rumen.
They successfully helped us to enjoy a great stay.
