Veria is a wonderful little town, full of history, great old historic district and beautiful authentic villages around it. It is a center of aromanian/vlach culture and well worth the trip.
Food is great and prices are reasonable.
Vergina tombs within cca 12 km - wonderful archeological site and new museum showing the splendour if ancient macedonian civilization, the world of Alexander the Great and his father PhilipII.

About everywhere in the city, many Byzantine churches, The Byzantine museum. The vue to the plaine from the Elias square, Café Elias had a nice filter coffee, the older buildings in tht neighbiurhood.
I had lunch in several restaurants in town : Beluga on Elias square, 14 and Ston Pappou, Ellesis,2 were classy ones, a little bit more expensive but there are some others like the Roma pizza restaurant, on Mitropoleos street15, see photo in my revue, on the main street from the Clock Tower square, nearby the hotel Kokino Spiti in the old Juïsh quarter, also the nice restaurant opposite Stasou Mygdala on the corner of Mitropoleos and Elefterias street, that one is a real treat for small dishes, mesedes called.
Veria is very easy to get arround.
I do not know what I would avoid on my next visit to Veria.

What a charming (and ancient) town Veria is.
What a charming (and ancient) town Veria is. Alexander the Great's father's tomb is very nearby (Vergina). Great restaurants (generous servings and cheap too, by modern day Greek standards). It was only by chance that I visited, but in future I will make an effort to stay here every time I pass-by...

Veria had a variety of things to see, including the Byzantine museum. History and culture. Lovely river and walkways. Great food. Close to the incredible Vergina tombs, a must-see. We stayed in the Jewish quarter, close to the river. Highly recommended as the best area. I imagine this city is often overlooked by tourists, but its worth a night or two.
The hotel was right outside of the busy town which was great as driving in town is tricky. The rooms were big, clean and comfortable, with a little balcony. We overlooked the pool - there was very loud music playing and we didn't hear any of it in our room. The pool is huge, gorgeous and spotless and though they open it to the public, there are tables and seats reserved for hotel guests. Close to Vergina, our main reason for visiting, a 12 minute drive. Good breakfast. Great, great, great service. Catered kindly to the vegan in our group.
Exceptional apartment in the very center of the Veria. Host is very kind and helpful - he waited us on arrival to give us keys, show us property and provide necessary information. Apartment itself is very modern and well equipped. Just across apartment you can park car on public parking which looked perfectly safe. Just below apartment there is coffee bar and very close is bakery and creperie. Since apartment is in very center of Veria, there are very good restaurants nearby. Also worth checking is old town which is in walking distance.
I chose this place mostly based on price and being close to Vergina for the royal tombs and museum. Veria also has its own things, such as the historic city center with Byzantine churches, a place regarding Apostle Paul, and other things. The hotel was a boutique type, made from reconditioned old buildings in the old city center area overlooking a nice river. The balcony and window brought in the sound of rushing river water, which was nice. Truly a huge departure from the typical hotel.
It's an agritourism type of object and is located in the countryside, so the surrounding was very quiet during our stay (which we really liked). There is a parking place in front of the hotel.
The owners were very friendly and eager to help. The best of all was the breakfast, during which we got a broad variety of food, most of which had been produced locally on the farm.
Stayed in this hotel for 10 days, everything was great.
The room had a fireplace, a balcony and a view of the pool and mountains!
The rooms are large, quite clean and beautiful.
But overall I would love to go back to this particular hotel in Veria.
I would say thank you very much for the friendliness and responsiveness of the staff.
Excellent location, in the center of Veria with bakery, cafes, restaurants, cinema, super markets, grocery stores all at a short walking distance.
Spacious, minimalist, decorated with good taste.
Clean 2 bedroom apartment, lounge, TV, with a well equipped kitchen, washing and drying machine, shower and other facilities.
The hotel is right off the main road easy to go everywhere.
The stuff were absolutely amazing and helpful, from Akis, and Makis on the front desk, to the cleaning ladies and last but not least, the always welcomed and pleasant lady on the breakfast buffet. Thanks
The location is unbeatable. You are literally in the city. The rooms are spot on clean and we loved the temperature of it. Since I was born in this city originally i can understand the history behind this hotel. It was a pleasant two night stay.
We liked absolutely everything - and then some more. The hotel is a true boutique one, Michael was an incredible host , dreamy location and uniqueness in every detail. The only thing we regret was that the stay was too short!!
Great location and view of the valley. Nice pool and pool bar. Friendly and accommodating staff. Although there is no formal restaurant at the hotel, they cooked me dinner when I didn't feel like driving to town.
Lots of atmosphere right in the heart of the old Jewish quarter- very close to modern restaurant and shopping area. Make sure to follow hotel’s driving directions as some of the access can be tricky!
We stopped for one night on the way from Thessaloniki to Zagoria. Was excellent for our needs. we had an excellent breakfast - exceptional with home made products. The staff were very nice.
It was an a la carte breakfast, very good. Hotel is located in the center of the city. Beautiful decoration, nice and cosy.No noise at all. Owner is very helpfull and friendly.
Lovely hotel surrounded by beautiful scenery, very quiet but just 5 minutes drive to the town.Very good selection for breakfast. We would definitely stay there again.
