Edessa is a remarkable place with lots to see in the city and around. We visited the waterfalls & Varosi within Edessa, but also Pozar, Kaimaktsalan ski center, Nymfaio, Vegoritida, Bitola and Pella archeological site & museum.

Edessa, also known as the "City of Waters and of the 5...
Edessa, also known as the "City of Waters and of the 5 Senses", until 1923 Vodena, is a city in northern Greece and the capital of the Pella regional unit, in the Central Macedonia region of Greece. It was also the capital of the defunct province of the same name.
Edessa holds a special place in the history of the Greek world as, according to some ancient sources, it was here that Caranus established the first capital of ancient Macedon. Later, under the Byzantine Empire, Edessa benefited from its strategic location, controlling the Via Egnatia as it enters the Pindus mountains, and became a center of medieval Greek culture, famed for its strong walls and fortifications.
In the modern period, Edessa was one of Greece's industrial centers until the middle of the 20th century, with many textile factories operating in the city and its immediate vicinity. Today however its economy mainly relies on services and tourism. Edessa hosts most of the administrative services of the Pella regional unit, as well as some departments of the Thessaloniki-based University of Macedonia.

There are beautiful views of the waterfall.
If you've ever been to a cave before, there's no point in paying to enter the one behind the waterfall. The neighborhood is charming.
After 10 pm is difficult to find open restaurant.

A nice little town to escape the heat at sea level, and as a step stone to visit the higher mountains.
The tourist information was very helpful and informative.
We have signed for a year-long citizenship, which buys a free access to the city's rent-a-bike for 1 EURO.
Take a short bike ride or walk to the waterfalls, the old city and the scenic route overlooking the valley below.
Enjoy the drinking water taps across the city and the streams flowing through it.
The tourist information's advice for local restaurants was nothing short of perfect.
During July, roadside plum and pear trees are burdened by sweet colorful fruits, take your time to enjoy a few as you travel this area.

I liked the town near the hotel, with shady places to sit and plenty of places to eat, including one restaurant that provided excellent chicken soup. Some of the historical sites could have been a little better signed, especially those reached on foot via the old paved path down the cliff near the hotel.
This restored old mansion in the old Varosi neighborhood embodies warmth, coziness, and traditional style. It rained mightily during our October stay; the Varosi Guesthouse was a welcoming place for relaxing and unwinding after a waterlogged day of sightseeing. We took advantage of the thick robes provided in our room! Common areas on both levels are beautifully furnished, inviting guests to linger and browse through literature on the region. The property is a short walk from the bus station, town center, and magnificent waterfalls.
Awesome place. Got the room with best view. Breakfast was lovely. Liked their fresh tomatoes , cheese and olives. Oh...owner did lit the fire place while we were having breakfast. That was cool. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.
Owner was super helpful. As we were leaving for Edessa she hand over a bag full of bath towels , robs ect for our journey , even though we already checked out. So there is no need to say any more. That kind gesture says it all.
THOROUGHLY recommend this hotel. Such lovely people in reception; if you love being in old but modern this is the place for you. The history in this area is amazing; the natural beauty (5 mins to the waterfalls for example and the view from the other hotel is stunning). We were lucky enough to be alone in the 'house' and had two rooms -so having access to a central communal living room was absolutely amazing (as opposed to just being in a room).
The house was beautifully designed. Every little detail was thought of and was taken care of in the most perfect way. The location is right in the center and a walking distance from where you want to go in Edessa.
The owners were extremely nice and inviting, they showed us where to go and had great English. They also left a box of treats that we're great. If I could rate more than 10, I would.
Hotel is located in the middle of everything. It’s a few minutes away from the main shopping/restaurant area and less than 10 minutes from the glorious waterfall. The room I had was really large, as was the bathroom/shower. I also enjoyed sitting on my balcony in the evening and taking in the city’s energy. Staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions.
This is priceless, especially in this epidemiological situation. Our room was extremely clean, spacious and with nice decor. We met a lot of people who did a fantastic job. Special thanks to receptionist who takes care of everything, small details, atmosphere and for the amazing functioning of this hotel! Very nice and organized hotel to be recommended.
Everything was great. The room was clean with new furniture and it had great view to the monument of Alexander the Great. The staff was polite and tried to help us with whatever was needed. The hotel is located in the very center of the city. It is impossible to find parking nearby. But everything else was great. We would come to this hotel again.
Everything. The best accommodation we had in Greece.
We arrived in storm and wind and when we opened the door the fire was already burning and Raki was waiting for us. We took a shower in the super clean bathroom and slept like king and queen in the very very comfortable bed.
We can recommend everyone to stay here and not in another place!
Everything was perfect!
The staff was very friendly, polite and willing to help.
They gave us a map and guides and recommendations about restaurants and the hot spots of the city.
The hotel is located on a traditional area of city.
The room was very clean and tidy.
Sweet homeowner! Picture perfect house, better than images. Beautiful balcony, super peacefull and quiet. Recommend everyone to stay at this beautiful spacious house just outside Edessa. Short walk or ride to the waterfalls. Thank you! :)
Edessa was wonderful and the Varosi Guest House was so pretty and accommodating. The room and the living area outside the room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and kind. The value was terrific.
The apartment is very large. There are 5 rooms - two bedrooms, two living rooms and a separate large kitchen. It is located right in the center of Edessa and a 10-minute walk from the waterfalls. I recommend!
You feel as if you are a guest in old Greek house - with stone walls, fireplace, handmade curtains, etc. Varosi is an interesting old part of the town. Famous waterfalls are in 5 minutes' walk from the hotel
We got the feeling we stay in a nice family apartment, well organized. Not like in a simple hotel room or guesthouse.
The kitchen was completely equipped.
Good Location, near the center and waterfalls.
The food was amazing the best by far and we’re 1.5 weeks into our trip. The staff (family) went out of their way. The views were beautiful It is 7km away from
Edessa close enough to visit.
The location was ideal. Nicely in the center and everything of Edessa is really close. It also has a great bar in front of the hotel where you could spend some evenings.
