It does have an odor sometimes because of the industrial businesses. (Pulp mill). The homeless issue is quite bad as Prince George is a central hub in the province.
There are many restaurants to choose from and (what I consider) a lot of shopping options.

The PG Sandman Signature was horrific.
The PG Sandman Signature was horrific. A hockey team’s bus was left running all night right outside 4 floors of rooms. Noise complaint not addressed. Hot water took 15 minutes to heat to even a luke warm temp. Only 1 elevator in working order. Face cloth in bathroom was blood stained. Toilet seat would not remain up. No breakfast offered or available. Limited parking. Language barrier with staff.

Prince George does not feel like a city to us.
Prince George does not feel like a city to us. Instead it feels like 4/5 separate communities that happen to overlap a bit. This is largely due to the downtown area which has the potential to be quite fabulous feeling abandoned and shabby (with the exception of a few nice places to eat and a lovely coffee shop called Rituals).
The various communities are pretty much like their own mini towns with a mall of some kind in the centre and so have no need to venture out of their area, and there is not enough in downtown currently to make it a destination. Though there are a few must sees like Connaught Park.

The bed was perfect. Most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on, heck even better than my one at home. The room overall was perfect with a large bathroom and full size walk in shower. Nice day sofa as well that the wife could curl up on and chill out. The cleaning staff were friendly with a good morning or good afternoon every time we passed. Front staff were also great and informative making you fell welcome. Also checking in was a breeze. The hotel close to the craft brewery and some good restaurants as well which was perfect.
I can't afford to stay in expensive motels so I look for those that are most affordable. I chose this one because it appeared to have a place where I could park our cargo trailer without it being in the way. That said, we thought very highly of the motel and the employee who was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. On future trips where we'll need to stay in Prince George, I will check to see if Fraser Inn is available before I look any further.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Best Western Plus Prince George. The front counter staff (Alexandria and team) were very friendly and helpful, and the room decor was very modern with hardwood floors and a large shower stall. The beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast had a lot of variety. The location away from the downtown area was actually an upside, as there was very little unwanted noise.
I have tried 3 motels in Prince George, this one was the best. It can be seen that it was renovated recently. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean with all the amenities needed for stay in the motel. I've stayed 2 nights on different occasions. Both times flawless.
We were just stopping in Prince George as the middle point between a trip and booked for best price option. Once we checked in (easily) we were pleasantly surprised by the rooms, comfortable, modern, clean, etc all fantastic. I’d easily stay there for a longer trip.
I loved that the hotel was pet friendly. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. Loved the location, and the area for parking and for walking the dog. Staff were welcoming and attentive to our needs. Overall very satisfying stay for the entire family
The room was nice and although the breakfast is not as good as it was when there was an restaurant, it was acceptable.
This is my preferred place to stay in Prince George and the new owners have made some changes that make things better.
The PG Sandman Signature is an exceptional hotel. I was blown away by the amenities, staff and location. Out of the 28 nights I spent in hotels on my recent trip through Canada and Alaska, this hotel was far and away the best.
This hotel was very clean and had a kitchenette. it had a coffee maker and the coffee was decent. it is not a luxury hotel but we weren’t looking for that. price was right, clean quiet room for 12 hours, safe area… perfect.
Super nice hosts and very nice rooms. Joyce cooked an exceptional breakfast, Ted gave us valuable suggestions what to visit on our trip from Prince George to Smithers. Thanks!
The rooms were spacious for the two of us. Very clean and well maintained throughout hotel. Breakfast was fantastic, and overall, it was well worth the price.
The rooms were well appointed, very clean, and comfortable. We found the breakfast to be very good for a hotel breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful.
