The Riding Fool, located in an old building, has retained its quaintness and sense of historical charm. The facilities, including the shared kitchen and the bathrooms were immaculate. Our room was extremely comfortable. If we find ourselves in Cumberland again we will definitely stay here!

We were pleasantly surprised with the good dining available in the town. Martine´s Bistro, Avenue, Bistro, Toscano´s Mediterranean Grill were all good. The first two are excellent. Be sure to reserve. MIlano Coffee is also a good spot.
We came in Comox for the walking and geocaching, and were not disappointed.

Comox is a second home so I'm there quite often.
Comox is a second home so I'm there quite often. Sites: Filberg Lodge is a must to visit, their oceanfront cafe serves great food when open and walking the marina boardwalk to spy on boats and kingfishers is a pleasant pastime. The Comox and Comox base little museums. It's a pretty, walkable, bikeable village/town and the ocean/mountain views are lovely. The main shopping street has quality if not quantity of stores. Food? Church St bakery, the Black Fin pub, Sushi Kobo takeout are my favs but there is also a great gelato place, and a few I haven't tried - Toscano's, Martine's. Wander around, get a bike. If self-catering, I like Quality foods. The biggest problem is the limited transit system if you want to avoid cars so pick up transit maps at the town hall if you want to go to next-door Courtenay where there are some fine boutiques to explore and eating to be be done (Atlas Cafe, Butcher's Block for meat/takeout, Hot Chocolates (which is sooo much more than chocolates I'll leave it to you to find out...), Vassili's bakery but explore - there are others. If you're on a very strict budget, need clothing - Value Village has everything you need; for funky reasonably priced casual/cruise - Art Knapps garden store (you read that right - garden store). Swim/wet wear - Everything Wet is the best for high quality swimsuits (two and counting). Great variety, great owner, look for the sales. Worth every cent and I'm a tough fit, short, overweight, short-waisted and pear-shaped to boot. My latest Australian design Azura one-piece swimsuit makes 60+ me feel like a model. Things to do: Sid Williams live theatre, great Courtenay museum, Puntledge river and Seal Bay walks, So much more - the music scene, skiing, fishing, sailing, canoeing, biking, riding, sampling (40 Knots winery - the Meritage!!!!). Go, surprise yourself exploring this lovely area and all it has to offer.

Great little town with unbelievable restaurants and beautiful scenery. There are new brew pubs: land & sea, new tradition brewing and church street tap house to hang out in plus a cute boutique coffee shop called Milano. Filberg park is a must stop along with the wineries in the area, 40 knots for example. The hiking and beaches are really great.

The city itself is clean and well maintained.
The city itself is clean and well maintained. There were some nice places to eat and walk around but very little nightlife. I'd definitely recommend it for retirees but maybe not younger travellers. I highly recommend the black fin for dinner and komox grind for coffees and killer smoothies.
Super clean-the cleanest place we have stayed with years of traveling. The room has everything one needs plus extras like chocolate and sparkling juice. The breakfast is very delicious with fresh home made food served beautifully like a fine restaurant and menu changes too.😆 it is very quite so a good night sleep is guaranteed. The hosts are very helpful if anything needed. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Comox Valley. Thank you, Mena and Ken.
The breakfasts were delicious and varied, The room was very clean. Bed was excellent. The property is on a quiet lane with lots of trees and flowers. The deck was large and well designed overlooking the lovely garden. Kye the little dog was a delight. Mena and David were gracious hosts. Nearby.Kye Bay, a couple of minutes walk was beautiful and warm enough for us to swim. Excellent restaurants in Comox and a great day catching salmon. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Great hosts!!! The breakfasts were over-the-top delicious, healthy and very well presented ... just like a gourmet restaurant!! The accommodations were delightful, very clean, very comfortable. Lovely deck with comfy couches, perfect for relaxing with a good book. A two minute walk to the beach was an added bonus. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely spot to stay in the Comox area.
Good location in central Comox, this is your basic stopover place with nothing approaching fancy but all the basics are covered. The kinda place that doesn’t leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Seemed very clean, which is so important these days. Small kitchen with fridge, microwave and hot plate with a mixture of second hand dishes, cutlery pots and pans. A solid step up from a hostel - you get what you pay for.
Location is excellent - with several accesses to nice and long sandy beach (during tide outs) and close to Comox and Courtenay downtowns. The place is green, relaxing and clean, with nice atmosphere and summertime vibes in the air. The hostess and host are very kind, warm and positive people. The breakfasts were delicious and very tasty (food presentation is another story... everything was so beautiful... like a piece of art).
The property and room was dated but comfortable. The staff we only interacted with at check-in, friendly. We booked a two bedroom suite, full kitchen with dishes etc and spacious rooms. Definitely adequate for our needs. We didn't eat at the free breakfast or use the outdoor pool. Overall reasonably good value for money compared to other hotels in the area I would stay again and recommend.
Front desk staff were very nice. Breakfast was buffet: cold cereals, muffins, boiled eggs, toast, yogurt, juices and coffee or tea. It was a clean area and orderly in obtaining the food with accommodating hours. Location is very good to Comox and airport. Free car parking was adequate with quite good outdoor lighting.
I have stayed at The Port Augusta Inn many times: it is my regular go-to hotel when I need to stay in the Courtenay-Comox area. The facilities are good, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the beds comfortable, the bathrooms more than adequate. Just the job for an overnight stay. With Booking.com, the price is right.
You can't beat the location of this place. It's a 5 min drive from Comox airport and you're right on the water! Beautiful view and so quiet, aside from hearing the waves all day :)
The snacks, breakfast and beverages included in your stay are abundant and varied.
The owners were very flexible and accommodating.
The location was very good for us. We loved walking on the beach everyday. We went to the Comox area for family matters and our hosts were very accommodating, and helpful. The choices for breakfast were very sufficient and they had was what we wanted.
this is an older hotel with a few knocks but the rooms are very spacious. a fridge and a microwave. the bed was very comfy. And it is the best value for dollar on Vancouver Island . Not fancy but great! we would go back anytime.
Very clean room, everything was easily accessible and though the breakfast was basic continental it was nice we were able to either eat in the dining room or take our food on a tray to our hotel room.
we had a quick in and out. Plane was late landing. There were no taxis for 1/2 hour
but once we were at the hotel we were well treated
Wehn we came back 2 days later we rev=ceived a good price
Post Augusta is my favourite place to stay in Comox. it still has a bit of that “family run” feel which is nice. the rooms are affordable, comfortable and have the amenities we need.
Due to our late arrival time (~10:30pm) at Comox Airport, our friendly host Vince kindly offered to pick us up at the airport and show us into to our apartment.
