Commercial, Cultural and Modern with an Industrial Core
Katowice is located in the Silesian Highlands and is one of Europe’s largest industrial centres with a commercial, cultural and modern expansion from its old roots.
The spirit of the city is reflected in places such as Cathedral of Christ the King, the multipurpose and flying saucer shaped Spodek arena, the modern Silesia City Centre shopping mall, the cultural Silesian Museum, and the Historical Museum of Katowice.
Silesian Culture and Recreation Park is an extensive park located between Katowice and neighbouring Chorzow, a great place to keep in mind for a day excursion. Chorzow is home to a zoo, a amusement park, a nature reserve and the Silesian Planetarium.
The city offers several dining and entertainment options, from local 'no-frills' eateries and snack bars, to chic restaurants and bars around the cosmopolitan and upmarket streets of Staromiejska and Wawelska.
Check out Booking.com for great accommodation deals in the city centre and near Pyrzowice Airport and Katowice Central Station.
Katowice is a big city but the tram system is excellent.
Katowice is a big city but the tram system is excellent. We used the trams every day and as we are over 70, it was free! The Silesian museum was really interesting , detailing the history of the area and was well worth visiting. We ate out every day and found the meals to be good value and generally high quality. The Silesian Park is just wonderful, the autumn colours were stunning. Lots of restaurants in the Park too. Also worth visiting is the outdoor Silesian Ethnographic museum, set in very attractive grounds.

Great city. Good shops.
Great city. Good shops. As in all of Poland feel totally safe walking around town during the day or at night.
Lots of great shopping malls.
Lovely food.
Great that there are few tourists to spoil it. Ha,ha. Went to Krakow after this and it was full of loud brash, Irish, English, Americans.

It is difficult to approach.
It is difficult to approach. As a foreigner who is not familiar with the city, it is not easy. The gate is very strait, 2 meters wide. A large car cannot fit and there is no alternative because it is difficult to park on the street. The view of the city sounds nice but it is very noisy because of the tram that runs all night and the window is not well insulated.
The room is very nice and clean. One night if you are passing through, it is convenient.

Found it expensive however lovely place.
Found it expensive however lovely place. Do walk around the whole city to see the back end streets etc. Krakow around 1 hour by train price ranges from 19.95 to 27 polish zloty one way average 22.95 PLZ. 2 to 5 years will be transformed and this will be good. AP on yellow bus to from airport Terminal ABC combined. 6.60 Plz each way. Bus stop 10 in Katowice station which interacts with Katowice Gallerie (shopping Centre). Restaurants slightly different set up to that of other Euro countries. Europe place to be. Certain elements of society who are influenced by drink and drugs as per any country tend to hang about train station but Police on them often. Always looking for a scrounge but tends to walk away if firm but fair. Criminals will operate but overall safe city.

It's an underated city. It has a lot to offer for a weekend: the old town is not the best one but it has some interesting coffee hipster places. The cultural neighbourhood has impressive architecture, worthy to see. Check Nikiszowiec is beautiful.

An excellent city that has all the amenities of a real, small industrial city with an appropriate amount of heritage and cultural treasures. It is located at a traffic hub and is well connected to cities such as Krakow, Wroclaw. It is excellent for spending at least two quality days in it.
Probably the best hostel I`ve ever stayed (in Poland for sure).
Pretty interior, very clean, ability to check in/out and leave luggage without even visiting reseption (the last bit was really handy, as a was coming to check-in in 5am. Room for four looked clean and fresh. Bed was comfortable, socket and lights position is very convenient. Linen was for free. Also, bed was done by service and it was a really nice surprice (I didn't have to bother other people in the room by doing my bad at 5am).
Centrally located apartments, very close to everything you will want to see or visit.
Big shopping mall, railway station, buses to the airport, cafes, main market platz everything is 5 min walk from apartments.
Spodek stadium and Silesian museum also close like 15 min walk from the place.
Room is white and clean and has everything you need. Wi-fi is fast enough what might be important for freelancers.
The only thing is sofa this no too convenient for sleeping, maybe some other rooms have beds.
An excellent apartment, clean with lots of thoughtful supplies that made my stay even more comfortable. The location was good for me as I had an event in the local area. Otherwise it's just a couple of stops on the train to central Katowice.
I'm especially grateful to Jarek for being a very kind host and collecting me from the airport despite some delays and complicated circumstances. Thank you so much.
Overall, I highly recommend!
Excellent hotel, with great sport facilities, very good gym and a great pool and jacuzzi.
Rooms are big and clean, and the room with small kitchen very convenient.
In the hotel there is a great Spa/Beauty saloon with very nice and professional therapists..
Around the hotel several big groceries and stores near by. Parking was also good.
I am sure to get back to this hotel in the future!
Travelling through from Slovakia. Stayed as one night stop over before flight home. Location excellent. Staff excellent. No available parking near. Hotel staff took car to over night car park. Returned car back to hotel early morning. Ok so this was approx €18, but no complaints about that. Excellent hotel, and value for money. Airport approx 30mins drive.
Booked a double room in order to have a mini fridge available, room was clean, very modern bathroom, large tv although there where on 5 channels available. check inn was excellent even if I had a delay and arrived very late...next to the airport bus stop, shopping center and large cinema complex...in the center and near a lot of shops and cafes.
The apt was quite big, enough for 4 people and also for a baby (there was a baby crib in the bedroom). The kitchen had all the most important staff for a home stay, the internet was more than ok but the most important, it was max 7 minutes to the train station where you can get anywhere in Poland and also to Katowice Airport
Excellent location! Best hotel I have stayed at in Poland. Staff is wonderful and the bartender makes a fantastic mojito. Breakfast is beyond great, everything is fresh and clean. Rooms are very spacious and the bed is one of the best I have ever slept in. I wish all hotels are like the Mercure.
Hotel had a real buzz and we enjoyed the swimming pool area and jacuzzi. Excellent restaurant with outstanding dinner menu and one of the best breakfast choices we have ever seen. We loved the smoothie maker. Well located hotel with easy walk to town centre and silesian museum.
Like a fancy hotel. Really beautiful and comfortable. Even as A/C which is rare! It’s pretty close to everything as well. Rooms are soundproofed I think so even though it’s right in the heart of the nightlife, you can’t hear a thing!
Stayed for one night as a stopover after flying into katowice airport before travelling to krakow. very comfortable room with a good shower. very clean. within walking distance of the train and bus stations and the katowice galleria
Rooms and shared restrooms were clean, pleasant staff and great location! We only stayed for a night but are satisfied so that we'll definitely stay at Hostel Katowice Centrum on our next trip.
First stop in Poland for my business trip, best place in the nearest town to have a good night.
Comfy room, warm and cosy.
