Bydgoszcz is a gem. It's got charm without pretension. The city's philharmonic hall presents top-notch concerts and boasts outstanding acoustics. Opera Nova also can be counted on for first-rate productions. Great variety of restaurants, good cinema, shopping centre and excellent activities for both kids and adults. The city of Bydgoszcz has a massive potential of being great, but the constant roadworks made traveling difficult.

It's a sizable city in Pomerania region.
It's a sizable city in Pomerania region. Very developed musical life. Music Academy, excellent Filharmonic Hall and Opera. Very green, clean and it is easy to get by on foot , and by short 10 min rides on buses and trams. Good connections to the Baltic Coast Gdansk and historic Torun and Poznan. Up to 2hrs by train. Lots of history to discover about region and Middle Europe history past and present.

Great public transport system.
Great public transport system. The bus from the airport only cost 3 zloty 75 grozny, which is less than 80p, the cheapest direct airport to city link I've ever come across. The architecture is interesting and varied. The Tourist Information Centre in the main square is wonderful, well equipped with maps and guides to the city. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The app on my phone with my boarding pass stopped working and the staff very kindly allowed me to print off the boarding pass, even giving me a Polly Pocket to protect it. The flights to and from London Luton Airport were both only £15!

Bydgoszcz is not somewhere to go for a big holiday but there are things to do for a few days and it's not as bad as people in Poland say at all!! Actually it's pretty. Public transport is great. Go around old town, to Myslencinek and to the canal

Since we drove and there was no parking permitted at the venue, I found a Park&Ride option on Grudziądzka 15 street. You pay about 37 zł for 24 hour parking and your parking ticket is valid for all the city public transport for up to 4 people. There is some street parking available within a few minutes, free during weekends.AnnaPoland
