Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.
The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.
If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.
Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

The history and the sights are unbelievable.
The history and the sights are unbelievable. But I have traveled to over 40 countries and Cairo was definitely the most stressful place I have ever been. You have to be alert always with the different scams that are all around. Also the driving and walking is extremely dangerous. I never felt danger from the people, but great danger from getting hit by cars, trucks, motorcycles , tuk tuks.

it is one of the most fascinating cities on earth.
I have always felt safe. Love the shopping, cafés, restaurants and the great bakeries.
Don't be discouraged by the madness, dive in and become part of it.

Cairo is a busy, crowded, dirty/trashy city.
Cairo is a busy, crowded, dirty/trashy city. There are many very rude, aggressive, dangerous, oblivious drivers. The basic rules of driving are not recognized, there is little/none driver courtesy. There is no yielding to pedestrians, be very careful if you have to enter the street and always look both ways regardless of the designated direction for traffic. The street tempo of Cairo is hectic at the very least. The air is terribly polluted and generally unhealthy to breath. There are many nice, friendly and considerate Egyptian people, but they are often over shadowed by the mindless drivers. There are some modern shopping malls, however they mostly have the same stores. Many of the stores offering imported products are leaving or have already left Egypt. Depending on your agenda Cairo has several distinct areas, if you can afford a $250-$500 a night hotel you would be comfortable in any of these areas, it is safe in all but a few places. You should consider what you want to do in Cairo and arrange your hotel accordingly, the less you travel Cairo by auto the better you will like it. My favorite area in Cairo is Katamaya/West Golf, in this exclusive compound you can walk the streets day or night, go golfing on a championship course, have fine dining and completely forget you are even in Cairo.

Cairo is an amazing city of activity, culture and nightlife.
Cairo is an amazing city of activity, culture and nightlife.
The people are warm, welcoming and always ready to help.
People say hi just to say hi, and they help without a secondary agenda. (sometimes they expect payment but not obliged to unless specified by your guide/hotels)
The city is bustling with activity and you always feel safe.
I think what travellers need to remember is that it is still a 3rd world country and many things are not like what you might be used to. Eg, cleanliness of bathrooms/places in general, everyone speaking good English (though it was pretty impressive), public transport availability and accessibility.
Things to take note:
1. Use UBER, even at the airport. The pick up station is at the carpark and you will see this instruction when you log onto the app and request for a pickup.
2. Carry some amount of cash > as I said this city is still developing so some places don't take cards and the machines might not always work (We were at the Marriott Garden and it didn't work)
3. It's very dusty (you're in a desert!) so wise to take wet wipes to help clean places and also yourself.
4. Bring a bottle of water > it is the desert as i said and also you might need it to clean your hands/face.
5. Whilst it is still a tourist place, for women i would suggest to dress not too provocatively. Respect the area you're in.
Overall the location was great right next to the airport and it was clean but what really made me leave with a sour note is that some of the staff after helping carry the bags to standing waiting for a tip. And when you give them Egyptian pounds the face that they give you as if they were expecting Dollars and not even saying thank you. Just standing there looking at the tip and looking at you. Its not befitting of a 5 star hotel to have this kind of culture. Because of this i’m not going back there again. Absolute disgrace.
The hotel was very clean and the staff were so helpful! The owner helped us in every way possible, from help with booking a bus to another part of Egypt to arranging an Egyptian breakfast for us in the hotel and we also spoke about Egyptian customs. You can arrange for the hotel’s driver to pick you up from the airport for cheap. The cleaning lady wouldn’t even let us wash the dishes in the common area after we ate.
The hotel has a kitchen and also washing machine, and it’s close to the airport. Would definitely recommend!
My time at the hotel was really good. The service was excellent, and Marwan, a guy who works there, was super helpful. He made me feel safe in a new country and gave me good advice about avoiding tricky situations in Egypt. Whenever I needed something, he was quick to help. They cleaned my room every day, paying attention to small details. The water there was the best I’ve had in Egypt. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Thanks for a fantastic experience!
The location is perfect for everything. You will see the pyramid view at breakfast and sunset. 1 minute walk to the pyramid ticket office and entrance. Also there are mini market, shops everything around.
Also the staffs here are very nice, you can do exchange in the reception.
The hotel is a little old style, and the cleaning condition still needs to be improved but as my week in Egypt, I can say this hotel is definitely ranking the best in my list.
The room had everything needed for a solo traveler coming for few days. The location is great because everything is nearby. The staff was the best part of the hotel. Super nice, friendly, respectful and very, very helpful. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a genuinely good staff. Every single one of them. Do not ever change them. The wifi was working perfectly which is very rare for Egypt. I would recomment it to anyone, no mistake.
Excellent property and very convenient to activities and fantastic Piramids view. Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Specially the young guys-Mohamed, Ahmed & Islam (Some other people, I don’t remember the name) Property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm. The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Egypt
This hotel is run by the most respectful and helpful staff I have ever met Mohamed and others went above and beyond and wanted to make us feel comfortable. The rooftop is an attraction for viewing the pyramids. They serve delicious fresh juices. I recommend all the fresh juices. Best of all is grilled food. Mohamed offers the most beautiful excursions inside Egypt. Upon arrival it is possible
The first time I visited Egypt and I was very lucky (this hotel is clean and the service is amazing and the people who work there are always trying to help. I did tourist tours in Giza and Alexandria and they were amazing at a very good price. Many thanks to Mr. Khudari who arranged everything for us and who is one of the best people we know In Egypt, many people thanked him for everything
Location (shopping practically inside the hotel, variety of restaurants in the hotel and close to the airport). For a one-day stay, on the way back from a tour of Egypt, it is a good option. The lobby decoration is very beautiful and the staff service is very good. The hotel areas were clean and the pool was very beautiful. My room was large and had a good balcony with a view of the pool.
Great hotel with amazing view to Ancient Egyptian civilization, pyramids and sphinx
Very clean rooms with basic facilities great hospitality from the staff starting from the owners to all staff.
All you need around you by walking in hotel area ( Restaurants, Supermarkets, Pharmacies , Bazaars and more)
Thanks Mamlouk staff and definitely I will back again IsA.
Absolute gem in terms of monetary value and comfort. So far it’s the best hotel in Egypt we stayed in ( it’s been more than 2 weeks of travelling across the country and a lot of hotels ranging 3-5 stars). It’s new , very well designed and staff makes its wonderful because humans are humans and we always seek for great and friendly communications during the travel.
Excellent food many types of selections Egyptian and international foods ,numerous varsity of salads ,main dishes fruits And fresh tasty juices ,in fact it is the best breakfast taken in all 5 stars hotels I did stayed in Europe and North America
A very kind and excellent smiling welcoming staff
Proximity to the airport terminal is excellent. Breakfast is great. Soundproofing of the rooms was excellent as we could hardly hear any airplanes despite being in the airport. The rooms are clean. The presence of multiple restaurants within the hotel is a plus.
clean nice rooms. hot water. AC. staff are very friendly and helpful. location is good. close to airport and close to many restaurants and shops. hotel has security. 2 elevators. nice Indian restaurant and good roof top that service Egyptian food.
The staff is very kind and helpful. I am a U.S. female solo traveler who travels frequently to Egypt. I highly recommend this hotel. This hotel is also very clean, updated, and conveniently located close to the airport and shopping.
Amazing place right next to the airport! Best hotel I stayed at during my entire trip to Egypt. The staff were very nice. Free shuttle service and tasty food. The rooms were great as well! Would definitely recommend to others!
I have stayed at dozen of hotels around the area but City view was on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Staff was very hospitable and there for every need of mine. Thank you so much Hany 👍
Room is quite new, staff is nice.
I received best towel ever (very big and thick, even better than in 5 star hotel) and there is phene in toilet (usualy no phene in budget hotel).
lovely hotel nice and quiet close to pyramids, the staff they want to do the best to make you happy breakfast was delicious egyption tradition style and value for my money
