Pleasant seaside situation, somewhat run down town centre, plenty of restaurants, very hilly, parking is a nightmare and at the moment there is reconstruction going on in the middle of town. It has a charm of a sort and some nice walks if fit. There is a reasonably good bus service to take you to other local towns - Dawlish, Teignmouth, etc - and there are quite a few beaches although as we visited in April and had a planned reason to stay we didn't visit any. Visitors need to choose their hotel carefully - we saw some examples of what might politely be called faded buildings.

Selection of museums to check out at a small cost. There is a lot to see if you have time. The Agatha Christie Mile. Torquay happens to be the birth place of this Legend . Unfortunately our stay was short as this would be definitely on our agenda to do.

Torquay is a typical seaside resort & has something for all ages and it's easy to get around by car, bus or on foot. Bygones museum at St. Marychurch is well worth a visit & Cockington Village has to be seen, especially on a warm sunny day.

Torquay is very run down with a lot of homeless people.
Torquay is very run down with a lot of homeless people. Bad roads, poor surfaces and many potholese. Very expensive parking. Parking at 6.30pm to 7,15pm cost £5. Excessive for the town centre when all the shops are closed and only parking for 45 minutes. I live in a very expensive area of SW London where parking is a fraction of that price.

We know Torquay well as we have family there, but we are fond of it anyway. The beaches are fantastic, there are several good restaurants and the bars around the Harbour are good for an evening out. If you have young children then I can’t recommend the Model Village enough!

A bit hilly in parts so could be a problem for people with mobility issues
Food on expensive side but something for most budgets
Amazing place to enjoy summer holidays in Torquay, location is fabulous- 5min walk to the beach, 10 min walk to the centre with promenade and harbour. The room was comfortable, equipped with toiletries, enough towels, portable conditioner. Nice shower room. great variety of meals for breakfast for adults and kids, British breakfast, vegan food, waffles with berry sauce etc. Excellent hospitality, few parking places to the rare. next to the hotel best chippy in the town, plus Chinese, homemade cookies shop, grill etc.
Cute little b&b, stayed for 1 night as were meeting a friend for drinks nearby. Good location, 10 minutes walk into town (longer on way back as up hill!) Comfortable bed, spacious room, friendly owner. Breakfast was nice - choice of cooked breakfast/ other items from a menu, then a selection of tea coffee etc also. Parking permit given to be able to park out the front of the hotel for the duration of our stay.
Would recommend for anyone wanting a cute little room in Torquay.
I needed a last minute hotel room for a night out in Torquay. This hotel was over £100 per night cheaper than the next cheapest option. It is definitely "no frills", but was clean and the bed was very comfy, and it didn't matter that I came back to the room in the wee early hours. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing hotel but it certainly did the job and I'm grateful to have found somewhere so reasonable.
My favourite hotel during my 6 week trip across Europe and Asia! Huge room, really lovely, overlooking the seafront. I was put in the suite at no extra cost. Delightful breakfast cooked fresh, with loads of options to choose from. Very clean, with coffee/snacks and towels replenished daily. Lovely, warm and friendly staff- I loved it here and will definitely make it my go-to hotel when visiting family in Torquay!
terrible - i was moved to this hotel but did not stay there as it did not meet my requirements - I contacted the hotel before my stay and told them it was not suitable. They confirmed a refund of my payment would be made however they are now telling me they will not issue a refund - you can't speak to anybody on a local basis - and they fob you off - absolutely do not care about their customers
Bed was very comfy
Room was clean
Pool was therapeutic lovley architecture
Variety of pools was excellent
Gym was accomodating
Porter was very supportive and helpful
The food was very good
Home made sponge treacle pudding was the best I've ever had..
Chefs were accommodating and humorous
Over all had my first great experience with this hotel
Top Marks
Wil be returning
The hotel is about a 10-minute walk to Torquay's main shopping streets. Free on-site parking or, if that's full, in the street outside. Friendly, welcoming proprietors. Large, clean and comfortable room with ample supply of tea/coffee. Fast Wi-Fi in the room - 28Mbps up/down. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Would definitely stay there again.
We have been transferred to partner hotel - Grand Hotel, so this is review for it.
The standard room we had was very spacious with big bathroom. The décor is fine, although little shabby. The breakfast was buffet style and was good. Little extra is indoor pool and small gym, so if you have time you can spend it there. Overall happy with our visit.
Lovely hotel in a fantastic central location just a short stroll to the sea front and despite many shops and restaurants being right on the doorstep it was still a lovely quiet location.
The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful and the breakfast we had both days was delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I was visiting Torquay.
Location is good just a few minutes walk to Torquay harbour. This is our 2nd visit. Last time we stayed in the Victoria hotel. The breakfast was good. Evening meals were ok. The facilities are great, pools are good, good selection of bars, kids games area etc. Brixham and babbacombe were my favourite places we visited (photos are attaced)
Ashley Court is by far one of the best Hotels in Torquay by miles! It's location is fabulous 👌,the staff outstanding, clean & comfortable everything you need under one roof & it's even got a pool and a game's room.

The location was ideal, with shops and restaurants and pubs within short walking distance. Parking at property was good.
Very clean and comfortable property.
Bus service into Torquay nearby. Very quiet at night,
Breakfast was excellent. Individually freshly cooked. The owners were friendly and accommodating of our every need. Made to feel welcome from first stepping in the hotel to checking out
The style of hotel was lovely
The location was great so close to the shops and restaurants, everything was in walking distance
The view of the sea from my room was BEAUTIFUL
Great value hotel. Great, friendly staff. Though the hotel is on old rambling hotel, the rooms are clean and modern and comfortable. But most of all, it's the price.
Hotel is in a great location right on the beach front in the centre of Torquay which is fantastic! The bed was super comfy and our room was relatively spacious.
